Still Making Tildas

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I'm still on a Tilda kick and wanted to show you another doll I've made.
If you follow me on Facebook you've seen her but I still wanted to share her with you.
Meet Sandy and she has a story. I have a little friend who is going to be 90 years old on her birthday. I misspoke on FB and said she was 85. Anyway, she had called me and we were having a nice conversation and she asked me what I had been up to? Well, Tildas of course! So I went on and on telling her what a Tilda doll was. She just asked me so many questions about these dolls and I was happy to tell her.
When we hung up our phones it hit me! Make her a Tilda doll for her birthday! And so I did.
I named the doll Sandy after my friend. When she received her doll, she called me and was so grateful and told me how she was going to display her and she was looking for a little chair for her to sit in. I just can't tell you how much joy it gave me to make her so happy. People, don't miss those moments to make someone smile.
Anyway, look at Tilda Sandy. I think she turned out pretty cute, don't you? I used a fine Sharpie for her eyes and it seems to always bleed a little. I should have used a seed bead or maybe paint. Oh, well! I was proud of how her little hair turned out. I just never really know what I'm going to do with the hair until I get into it.
I put little purple bows at the end of her sleeves. Oh, Sandy, my friend, is a red head so that's why I chose purples for the dolls clothes. I didn't have any appropriate yarn to make red hair. She told me how she loved purple and it was the color of her birthstone!
I placed little ribbon roses at the bottoms of her little leggings.
Then shoes! I've never made shoes like this before and I think they turned out so so cute! Perfectly matched little shoes with more ribbon roses to top them off.
Well, there you have Sandy! I so happy to know she is in a good and loving home. Don't forget to be kind to your friends. It's amazing how little it takes to put a smile on someone's face.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Try A Little Kindness

If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and say you're goin' the wrong way
You've got to try a little kindness yes show a little kindness
Yes shine your light for everyone to see
And if you'll try a little kindness and you'll overlook the blindness
Of the narrow minded people on the narrow minded streets

Don't walk around the down and out lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day will help someone along their way
You've got to try a little kindness...
You've got to try a little kindness...

  1. I am and have been a doll maker for many years. Have not done many in the last few years. Hope to get back to it this winter. Yard work done for the year. Forecast is for a chance of snow here in Iowa. Hope they are wrong. Crops not all out yet. I would suggest using the handle end of the paint brush to make the eye dots The way I did the rag dolls I used to make. Make sure the end is the size dot you want. Your gift doll is so special. For the one you blessed and because it make you happy. judy

  4. Oh little Tilda Sandy is so adorable. I have never seen one anywhere except on your blog. There are so many little details you included. I'm glad your friend loved her. It takes so little to make people happy.
