What I've Been Up To

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the Fall season. It's been rather warm here so we don't have the pretty leaves we've had in the past. Get ready for a long long post!
We took Kiki and headed to Akron, Ohio, to visit Mr. Precious' 83 year old cousin. These are leaves we saw on our way back in Pennsylvania.
Of course my little Willow is becoming the most wonderful little travel puppy. She has grown so much and is 7 months old now. I believe she is going to be bigger than my Chloe Dawn was.
Here is Warren (the cousin), Mr. Precious' sister (they hadn't seen each other in 50 years!), and of course you know Mr. Precious!
Cousin Warren lives in an old house filled with lovely antiques but I was a bit embarrassed to ask to take snaps but I snuck this snap of the piano. We had a lovely visit. This trip was 1,000 miles round trip and I was tired when we got home. But...we had friends coming from Texas to ride the train to Montreal, Canada to see the leaves that hadn't changed yet. So I had four days to spiff up the house, clean the toilets and cook!! Lord, have mercy! I'm not that young any more.

But I made it, toilets cleaned and all, and here we are in the dome car. We had a great time and so enjoyed hearing Mr. Precious an our little friend tell their stories from the pasts.
Since my house was clean, I thought I'd show you a little of it and friends were coming so I had to poke down a little Fall! Here is the den. Mr. Precious and I bought new chairs almost a year ago that I haven't shown you.
Well, this snap is out of place but here is the top of the mantel - milk glass with a little Fall poked in. And, yes, that is the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man you see there. He sits on the mantel now no matter what. I ordered him for Campie last Christmas but he's a collector's item and not really a toy. So when Campie comes over he has to sit on the sofa and then he can hold and play with the Stay Puft Man for a little while. That's a grandma for you! :)
Okay, back to the chairs. Here's mine and it rocks. Love to rock. I live in my chair and made some little arm sleeves to match my cover on the foot stool so hopefully the arms would stay looking nice for a little longer.
Here is Mr. Precious' chair. He's a guy you know so he had to have a leather recliner. I always make him a little butterfly looking pillow like because he likes to poke it behind his neck.
More milk glass and my dogs in the builtins.

In the breakfast room I Falled up my little hutch.
 Falled up the kitchen table.
Falled up the kitchen window sill.
Falled up the buffet in the dining room.
Falled up the dining room table.

Falled up the coffee table in the living room with a great big basket I found. I didn't go all out this year as I seem to have lost my decorating mojo for a bit but with company coming...you know how it is.
Then we took a day trip to Stockbridge, Massachusetts, one of our favorite places to go to, especially in the fall. At The Red Lion Inn there are always two huge pumpkins flanking each side of the walk to the front porch. Always have to have a Polaroid moment with the pun'kins. See how much they weigh? Oh, a little sadness...the original Country Curtains shop is inside The Red Lion Inn and I just received my catalog and it says the company is going out of business! I love their stuff.
Of course it was lunch time and we had to stop in the restaurant of The Red Lion for a little nourishment...we had apple cider butternut squash soup and bread. Talk about yummy! Oh, here I am with my cheater glasses checking my email.
The highlight of this trip was that I got to see the original Hitty Doll. Do you know about her? When I started researching about miniatures a littler over a year ago I stumbled up on Hitty on the web. She is a little doll that was found in a New York City antique shop around 1920 and was about 100 years old at the time. The lady who bought her started writing little story books featuring Hitty!  She is hand carved and probably 200 years old now. She resides in the Stockbridge library in their archives and museum area. Sadly the curator wasn't there and the librarian didn't know much about her. This was my second time to try to see Hitty and when we got there the museum had been closed for two hours!! Oh no! But the lady said if I just wanted to see Hitty she would take me downstairs! Yes!! and she allowed me to take a snap with my phone! She is not 1:12 scale but is bigger so she wouldn't fit in a regular dollhouse. Probably dollhouses where bigger back then. There are lots of Hittys now that you could carve yourself. I really don't know if they are available now but I've seen so many on Pinterest.
Then...I found another dollhouse! I have got to stop this. We drove to Massachusetts for this baby and she had all of the furniture! Get this...$40, y'all! Did you hear me? $40!! I know! The outside looks great but the insides are dark and crusty looking so I will be redoing her later. One dollhouse at a time. The furniture is more of the Victorian style, which is not my style, but I'll divide it up and maybe redo some of it.
I'm working on one house at a time. This is my first one with the home made furniture I've been showing you and she's all decked out for Fall - even little pumpkin lights!
This is my $20 dollhouse that I showed you a while back. She was white and I've painted her pink. I took off the doorknob to paint the door but I don't like the yellow. I had originally painted the house an aqua color but didn't like it. So I'm thinking maybe a blue door? The blue of the roof on my little house above. I'm open to suggestions. Actually, I need all of the help I can get.

So there has been a change in the sunroom...it's become the dollhouse room. We poked my two wicker rockers down in the basement. I've got fabric to make a table cover so I can hide things underneath. I need to get two more turnies to go under those two houses. Those things make it so much easier to go from front to back.
We bought some mums for the front. Leaves are falling and the weather is getting cooler but we are still 10 degrees above normal.
So in the spirit of Halloween Bunny Foo Foo says, "Boo!"

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

Spooky

In the cool of the evenin'
When everything is gettin' kind of groovy
I call you up and ask you if you'd like to
Go with me and see a movie

First you say no
You've got some plans for the night
And then you stop, and say, all right
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you

You always keep me guessin'
I never seem to know what you are thinkin'
And if a fella looks at you
It's for sure your little eye will be a-winkin'

I get confused
'Cause I don't know where I stand
And then you smile and hold my hand
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky, heh, yeah

If you decide someday to stop
This little game that you are playin'
I'm gonna tell you all the things
My heart's been a-dyin' to be sayin'

Just like a ghost
You've been a-hauntin' my dreams
So I'll propose on Halloween
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you

Spooky, spooky
Oh, whoa, all right, I said spooky
Oh, yeah, yeah, I said spooky
Yeah, yeah
Oh spooky, spooky
I said spooky
