I Got A Dollhouse!!

Hello, Dear Ones. Well, after I've come back from my long blog break - I've been posting like crazy and today I was so excited to put up another post because...

I GOT A DOLLHOUSE~~
If you're new to visiting me you can go to my sidebar on the right and click on "Miniatures" and see what I've been doing. Not having a dollhouse I've still manage to have a great time making, buying and playing with my minis.
Mr. Precious told me to go and buy a dollhouse from Hobby Lobby but I just didn't think I wanted to put together an entire dollhouse - piece by piece by piece. I found out you can order a dollhouse already put together and then you just paint the outside and go to town on the inside. I still just didn't want to do that. So, I looked at Craigs List quite a bit and saw dollhouse folks were selling. Lots of little plastic ones and nice wooden ones too. Those nice ones mostly came with a nice price too.

Well, as time goes one I spied this one on Craigs List!!

Oh, I was just smitten! I rather lean toward a now a days house instead of the ornate Victorian ones!
I could see it was a little worn but there's paint! I got it for $75. Some of you may think that's an awfully lot to pay but I found out the man I bought it from had made it for his daughter over 20 years ago. I asked if he had made it from a kit - no. I asked if he had used some dollhouse plans - no. He said he just had the idea in his head and built it! I even felt a little guilty buying it and asked  'are you sure your daughter doesn't want it?'. He said she didn't want it nor did his granddaughter. SOLD!
Here she sits in my sunroom. I had a little turntable that you use on your dinner table to twirl around things on and poked it under the house so I could turn it around easily. I'm so talented like that ya know! :) The house has a dark green roof and shutters. It looks sparkling white but it's actually a dirty creamy color. I just lightened up my snaps for you and now the outside looks white. It sits on a pretty large base painted green to look like grass. It's a hoot that it has a red front door! I love red front doors!
Here's a few snaps: two chimneys, cute little front door stoop, a tiny garage with doors that open and shut and an upstairs balcony with railing.
I can't get over how she looks so white! Trust me, it's a dirty creamy color. Oh, the little front steps are painted gray to look like concrete.
This is where the biggest wear and tear is - the board it sits on. This dollhouse was played with, y'all! I'll just sand it up and repaint it.
I twirled it around so you can look inside. I'm loving my turn table. The inside is a blank slate just waiting for my touch. I'm not a true miniaturelist so I don't have a problem with not laying down individual tiles or laying a wooden floor plank by plank. Heck, scrapbook paper works just fine for me! Don't shoot me!!
Uh Oh! I placed some of my little furniture in and realized the rooms are not to the standard dollhouse scale with is 1/12th. Oh no! My little things are just too big to fit!
I grabbed some of Carter's little plastic furniture from her dollhouse that stays over here and the furniture fits! Play dollhouse furniture is smaller and is 1/6 inch scale ? so I think the man made the dollhouse this size! Okie dokie! I can deal with this and I'll make my own furniture to fit. I think lamps and little accessories will work just fine.

But I had some other plans for my house...
I grabbed my paint and brushes and went to town painting the house to please me! Do you like it? You're looking at just one coat so far. Well, the roof is done with two coats of a pretty smoky gray. The outside walls are blue with accents of red. I am going to paint the dirty creamy color on the trim a crisp white! I love it!
Now when you really look at the little front door you can see how teeny tiny it is. There is a plastic film for the glass on the windows. I tried to clean them but it is what it is. The windows will look better with some little lace and curtains.
Here is the little garage and I've only put on one coat of red paint on the doors so far. I think this will become a little garden shed.
Now this is a sweet little sunroom but you can't get into it very well - only through an opening in the room beside. Now I'm not a carpenter but would like to saw out this opening on the back so I could get into that room. Hopefully they make a little hand saw with a pointy end? I'll figure out something.
Here is the upstairs balcony which is above the sunroom. I have two little 'fairy garden' metal lawn chairs and they fit fine. Maybe this isn't 1/6 scale and it's 1/48 scale? I don't know!
So what do you think? Do you like the house the dirty creamy white color or the lovely new blue? :)
Okay, y'all, my stitching is going to have to go to the back burner for a while ans I play with my dollhouse.  Are y'all on board to follow along my mini journey with me?

Be a bunch of sweettes,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Home

Hold on to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave, wave is stringing us along

Just know you're not alone
'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble—it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you're not alone
'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble—it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you're not alone
'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Come on!
