I've decided to spiff up my little kitchen.
I bought the sink, stove and fridge. Although they're cute as buttons, they are kinda boring. Let the spiffing begin!
I started to work on the stove. I added a wall with a back splash which I've not glossed up yet. I got brave and decided to use mat board. I tried mat board earlier but I just couldn't cut it so I used foam board instead. Well, you can cut mat board. I marked my lines to be cut, used a sharp bladed xacto knife and made about three cuts and it worked! I think I'm impatient and tried to cut through it with one swipe. Anyway I covered the mat board with a little tile looking paper for the back splash.
Every stove needs a vent hood so I made one using mat board. I painted it yellow and modge podged a little Rooster image on it! Cute!
I wanted to show you these precious little cooking utensils I bought! I hung them up with poster sticky stuff so I can take them off when I want to.
Y'all can come on over for dinner as I have a pot of beans cooking and the coffee pot is always on. The little doors of the oven open up so I'll make some corn bread too! I just love this stuff. The bottom cabinets you see are the boxes I used in the kitchen of my first little foam board house. I used mat board again for the back part and then made some shelves for the top cabinets. The thingy you see sticky out on the right is a little paper towel holder.
The yellow counter tops - mat board again. Look at the cute little scale I bought. Somehow my most dainty fingers poked twice when I ordered it and I was sent two scales! So I painted the second one red and will show it to you later. These little scales come all in pieces and have to be glued together. I did okay with this one but not so good with the painted red one. Oh, well! :) I bought the little toaster too. It came with two slices of bread and as soon as I got it I poked the slices into the toaster and dog gone it, one slice of bread got stuck! I can't even get it out. Sometimes I mess up! I'll bet you thought I never messed up, didn't you? :)
Have to put pretty stuff in open shelves you know.
Working our way around the kitchen to the corner ~ I made a corner cabinet. I used the box bottom cabinet again and added the mat board back splash. I put a little shelf up to put more thingys on.
I know the backs don't touch each other, but I made each section separately so I could move around the arrangement when I wanted to. I need to make some new canisters to match my new kitchen.
Okay, I've put everything in place so you can see how it all looks. Tang thinks that toast is for her.
There you have it, my entire mini kitchen all fixed up. Well, I'm really not finished as I plan to put a window over the sink and hang some things on the walls, maybe get a rug for under the table, cook some food, get more dishes...does it ever stop? :)
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
