Hello, Dear Ones! It was time to get my mantel all Falled up so I went to town.
Before I get started I wanted to tell you that we got a new fireplace insert. Before we just had gas logs, pretty but no heat. So we found this kind that does have faux gas logs but it also puts out lots of heat! It has a remote control and we're still learning how to use it and trying not to burn ourselves up with the heat. So, my long story to tell you I no longer need my leaded glass fire screen. I think this is a much neater and cleaner look to the den. Although I loved my glass fire screen. So I put up a wreath, one of two, that a made a zillion years ago. It needed a little more Fallen color so I poked in a few orangey leaves. On either side of the mirror you can see I hung up two creamy yellow plates.
Just a touch of Fallen decor on the hearth. I have a funny story about that olden chalk cardinal. Last year when my little grandson, Campie, would come over he would go over to the bird and kiss it on the beak. He didn't make a big deal of it ~ he would just walk over and tenderly kiss it! Don't you just love that?
Hope Fall is looking good and feeling good at your house! Happy Fall, y'all!
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
You Light Up My Life
So many nights I'd sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song
So many dreams I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark but now you've come along
So many dreams I kept deep inside me
Alone in the dark but now you've come along
And you light up my life
You give me hope to carry on
You light up my days and fill my nights with song
You give me hope to carry on
You light up my days and fill my nights with song
Rollin' at sea, adrift on the water
Could it be finally I'm turnin' for home?
Finally a chance to say "Hey, I love you"
Never again to be all alone
Could it be finally I'm turnin' for home?
Finally a chance to say "Hey, I love you"
Never again to be all alone
And you light up my life
You give me hope to carry on
You light up my days and fill my nights with song
You give me hope to carry on
You light up my days and fill my nights with song
'Cause you, you light up my life
You give me hope to carry on
You light up my days and fill my nights with song
You give me hope to carry on
You light up my days and fill my nights with song
It can't be wrong
When it feels so right
'Cause you.....you light up my life
When it feels so right
'Cause you.....you light up my life
~ sung by Debby Boone
Sheila...it's just beautiful! Love, love your pumpkin collection! Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, Your mantel is very pretty! That is the sweetest story about Campie and the bird. I love your new fireplace insert; what a great idea. Have you adjusted to the NY temps? I think I would freeze any where but GA!! The song you chose to end your post today was #1 forEVER when I first attended jr. college here in the town we now live in! Sweet memories. God bless your day. xo

ReplyDeleteAnd I've "fallen" in love with your mantle and wreath!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your fallen mantle. It is so colorful and fall like. Fall is my favorite season of the year because of all the beautiful colors. I just adore your wreath. What a sweet story about your grandson kissing the cardinal. Kids are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pumpkins! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteVery nice mantel arrangement, Shelia. Your wreath looks pretty on the mirror. And the grandson story is adorable. Happy autumn days to you! ♥
ReplyDeleteSheila you make everything so pretty! Oh gosh how i LOVED that old debby boone song! She has such a pretty voice and was so pretty and seemed so nice. I just love all the good old songs and how music used to be....
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me im pretty sure i read (all those YEARS AGo!!lol) tgat tgat song was written as a worship God song--- not a love song--- and it was a huge hit and surprised them all!
ReplyDeleteOh the song! I remember very well how popular it was back in the day. A very Fallen mantel and so sweet of your grandson giving kisses to the bird:).
ReplyDeleteLovely Fallen home you have, Kathleen in Az
Your mantel looks great Shelia, and I just know you're going to love those new heat-producing gas logs! :) Thanks for sharing and have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Your mantle looks beautiful, Shelia! You will love your gas insert. We have one on our main floor that will roast you right out and heat the whole first floor.
ReplyDeleteLove the kiss story. Aren't little boys just so sweet sometimes? xo Diana
The mantel and hearth are so beautiful, Shelia. You have just the perfect decorating touch here for fall.
ReplyDeleteI think you will like the heat, we have it at our place in the mountains and its great because I can keep the gas bill down!
Fall looks pretty on your mantel. Sweet story about the cardinal. Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty mantel Shelia! I'm always struck with how this fireplace reminds me of your previous home. We have a gas fireplace too and it really heats up the room. Having the fan that blows the heat out makes a huge difference. Dan reduced the size of the flame because it kind of cooks us out! Have a warm happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, Love your pretty fall mantel. The little lights make it so cozy at night.
ReplyDeleteLove the story of your grandson and the sweet cardinal. He is such a sweetheart and shows a gentle heart. Cardinals always remind me of my grandmother for some reason. When I see them come near I always feel like she is saying hello and all is good.
Your home is beautiful for the season my friend. Enjoy the weekend. Hugs xo
Hi Sheila! First, I love that song - great memories of high school slow dances. Your Fall mantel is so pretty. Jane
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty. Love the tidbit about Campie kissing the bird. So cute! It is NOT cooling off -- we had a little tease for a few days, but we are in an "exceptional" drought, and it was 87 today when I met Jenna for lunch. Enough already! We can't water outside, and they are imposing surcharges if you go over the "recommended" amount on your water meters each month. I think I have some of those same plates, so thanks for reminding me I need to go find them!
ReplyDeleteAll of your autumn decorations are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour mantle is so stunning ♥
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, Shelia! So inviting and full of Fall goodness!
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeleteLovely Autumnal Mantel decor, dear friend!
The new addition to the fireplace will keep those toes warm and cozy this Winter!
I was thrilled to see you've already had SNOW!
Fondly,
Pat
