Hello, Dear Ones! Welcome to Midweek with Marion and little Babbette.
I decided these gals needed nightgowns. They were taking their clothes off and sleeping in their undies and that certainly couldn't be too comfortable.
Here are the girls in their green and white checked nightgowns. They are getting along so well and wanted matching gowns so my aim was to please them. I made Babbette's gown first and she just couldn't wait until Marion's gown was finished.
I sewed some eyelet around the bodice to look like a yoke and then added a tiny little white ribbon bow.
Marion is wearing her gown so you can see it's just like Babbette's.
Marion wanted a green ribbon bow and the neckline is a little larger on Marion's gown. Oh, Marion! Honey, go into the bathroom and comb your hair, get it out of your eyes. She takes her hair down at night and her hair is so thick it is hard to keep it out of her face.
Both girls popped into bed and Marion commenced to read Babbette a bedtime story. As you can see, Babbette is trying so hard to keep her little eyes open. She wants to hear the end of the story.
Aw, little Babbette is asleep now and see how Marion takes care of her? She has tucked her in and I hear her saying a little prayer and asking the Lord to help Babbette sleep through the night and protect her. I have such sweet girls.
Here's the pattern that I used for Babbette's gown. I used the pattern for the little red dress and just added length to it and it worked just fine. Now I cheated and used the same pattern for Marion's gown. Babbette is a little wider through the chest than Marion so I thought the pattern would work and it did. For Marion I just cut the neck out a little to make it bigger so it wouldn't fit so tight around her neck.
Thanks for popping in and make sure you go and visit my other dolly friends:
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Go To Sleep You Little Baby
Go To Sleep You Little Baby
go to sleep you little baby
go to sleep you little baby
your momma gone away and your
daddys gone to stay
didn't leave nobody but the baby
go to sleep you little baby
go to sleep you little baby
everybody's gone in the cotton and
the corn
didn't leave nobody but the baby
you're a sweet little baby
you're a sweet little baby
She's long gone with her red shoes on
Didn't need no other loving baby
don't you weep pretty baby
don't you weep pretty baby
honey on a rock and the sugar don't
stop going to bring the bottle to the baby
don't you weep pretty baby
don't you weep pretty baby
you and me and the devil makes
three
don't need no other loving baby
go to sleep you little baby
go to sleep you little baby
come lay your bones on the
alabaster stones
and be my ever loving baby

How very sweet....little matching gowns! I love that you added the lace to look like a yoke. I think I'll try that too! It looks just as good as cutting out all the little pieces to create a yoke! What pretty soft colors too. They look happy...or sleepy! Have a FUN day! I have a little fairy dress on my dollie post today! Come on over and play! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHow darling the girls look in their pretty nightgowns. Are you going to make flannel nightgowns for winter? Especially in your neck of the woods. My sister made little quilts for my daughters dollys. I love these posts. Kathleen in Az
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathleen. Yes, I need to make some flannel gowns and quilts would be cute. I don't have enough hours in the day to do all I want too! :)
DeleteAnother adorable post! You are quite the seamstress. I quilt a bit but the one time that I tried to make doll clothes was also the last. You ladies are amazing :)

These are so charming. You do such pretty work.
ReplyDeleteCatching up on my blog reading and had to stop and say I adore these little green checked outfits! I had a pink checked bedroom when I was little, then I switched it all to blue. These babies would have fit in either of the decors! So adorably sweet!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Labor Day weekend!

Love how the dolls have two matching outfits. And the color goes so well with the little doll bed. I do hope to join in with all of you again sometime soon. We have some travel plans and I will be away from my sewing room. I will let you know when I am ready to post and share along with you. Thanks for your visit.
