Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Hello, Dear Ones. Well, today is sort of a different post for me. It's all about the hair! I decided two years ago to grow my tiny little short hair out long. You know how that is...the time your hair is awkward, can't do anything with it. But I kinda liked it as it was getting below my ears and was really excited when I could pull it back and then wear it up. You see my inspiration was to grow it long and wear it up in a bun like my beautiful friend Mona who blogs at Wsprsweetly of Cottages. She's so pretty and I loved how she wore her hair up. Okie dokie. I just tried to make my little bun and updo look elegant but I just couldn't do it! I thought I looked messy and my hair just never looked really neat to me. So what did I do? Grabbed my hair cuttin' scissors and razor and went to town. Now I've always cut my own hair but other than trimming I hadn't cut short hair in two years!! I took the first cut and I was scared! Then I kept clipping and looked like Natalie Wood in the movie 'Daisy Clover', but not as cute as her.
I almost called my daughter's hairdresser to ask her to finish it up, but no, no, Nannette! I'm a stubborn one and kept on chopping!
My hair ended up looking like it had looked the last 20 years. Well, minus the two of growing it out. I see so many of you and my friends who can wear their long hair down and it looks so pretty. Not me, honey! No way! I have the straightest hair you've ever seen. It's thick but baby fine. So when it gets any length to it, it just goes flat to my tiny little head. I had even put a perm in it to give it a little more body but still had to wear it up because it didn't look good on me down. Oh, by the way, I really don't have eight fingers, you're just seeing me and a little extra in the beveled part of the mirror! :)
Now don't you laugh! I didn't have a snap of me with my hair down so I drew some on to show you the length it had gotten. Are you laughing? I heard you!! ;) Well, this picture above really looks better than my own hair did.  So you can see why I had to cut it! I COULDN'T STAND IT ANY MORE!!!
I wanted to look beautiful like Mona. Couldn't do it. I wanted to have a back view of my hair like my friend Janie at Blondie's Journal (I've always loved her hair too). Oh, and I can't forget my most recently famous friend Diana at Nana Diana Takes a Break. Look at her gorgeous hair and she wears it down! Shoot! I just looked like a drowned rat! I had no choice but to get chopped! I heard that giggle!
So here I am again...freshly chopped. I left it longer in the back than usual because the hair at my neckline swirls around and will stick up. But I'm trying to keep it down. Don't know if I can train that part or not. I'm using the curling iron for awhile. It's a very funny thing to me. As straight as my hair is, I can curl it with the curling iron and it curls and stays in when it's short. I'm strange, I tell ya! I've also decided not to color my hair for a while and see what I get. I am almost white at the right side of my bangs. There's some shiny hairs in the back. So we'll see! One thing about it, wearing it so short, I chop on it about every two weeks so the color will be gone pretty quickly.
Here I am on another day with my blow dried hair. I'm trying to train it with my round brush. I don't want to rip out the curling iron every time I fix it! Can you tell any difference? Which way do you like it best? Blow dried or curled?

Now I'm not really vain but I do like to look neat and I do feel better about myself. Mr. Precious likes my hair much more and so does my daughter. I'll have to watch myself though because I feel really empowered with my scissors and razor in my hand! I have been known to get carried away and cut my hair way too short! So if I do, it'll grow!

Okie dokie! Just wanted to share my tiny not self with you all because I love you! Like I said..hair today, gone tomorrow!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

She asks me why, why I'm just a hairy guy.
I'm hairy noon and nighty night night, my hair is a fright.
I'm hairy high and low, but don't ask me why, cause he don't know.
It's not for lack of bread, like the Grateful Dead.

Give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair.
Shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen.
Give me down to there hair, shoulder length or longer hair
Here baby, there, momma, ev'rywhere, daddy, daddy.

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, hair. Flow it, show it, long as I can grow it, my hair.

I'd let it fly in the breeze and get caught in the trees, give a home to the fleas in my hair.
A home for the fleas, a hive for the buzzin' bees,
A nest for birds, there ain't no words for the beauty, the splendor, the wonder of my:

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it, long as I can grow it, my hair

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy, snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty,
Oily, greasy, fleecy, shining, streaming, gleaming, flaxen, waxen,
Knotted, polka dotted, twisted, beaded, braided,
Powdered, flowered and confettied, bangled, tangled, spangled and spahettied.

Oh say, can you see my eyes?
If you can, then my hair's too short.

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, hair. Flow it, show it,
Long as God can grow it, my hair

They'll be ga-ga at the go-go when they see me in my toga,
My toga meade of blond, brilliantined, biblical hair.
My hair like Jesus wore it, Halleluja I adore it, Halleluja Mary loved her son, why don't my mother love me?

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, hair
Folw it, show it
Long as God can grow it, my hair

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, hair
Folw it, show it
Long as God can grow it, my hair
~ sung by The Cowsills
