We kept the grandchildren while my daughter and son-in-law when to The City for three days.
We enjoyed them so much and had loads of fun, but I'm telling you ~ I am totally pooped!
Excuse the picture quality as I snapped with my phone.
There were lots of puzzling...
Lots of building with uncombed hair.
Lots of laughing and trying the princess crown on brother's head! :)
Lots of sliding...
Lots of crawling through whatevers.
Lots of bathing to get off the daily dirt.Lots of braiding pigtails to look like Doc McStuffins.
Lots of lining up for tap dance class.
Lots of tapping on Observation Day (yay for me!)
Lots of sitting in leather chairs at L. L. Bean.
Lots of sitting in granddaddy's lap reading "Green Eggs and Ham".
Lots of love, hugs and kisses and now it's time for grandparents to get lots of naps and lots of rest!
Wouldn't trade this for the world!
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
The Old Gray Mare
The old gray mare,
She ain't what she used to be
Ain't what she used to be,
Ain't what she used to be
The old gray mare,
She ain't what she used to be
Many long years ago.
Many long years ago,
Many long years ago,
The old gray mare,
She ain't what she used to be
Many long years ago.
The old gray mare,
She kicked on the whiffletree,
Kicked on the whiffletree,
Kicked on the whiffletree
The old gray mare,
She kicked on the whiffletree
Many long years ago.
Many long years ago,
Many long years ago,
The old gray mare,
She kicked on the whiffletree
Many long years ago.

Shelia, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had Tiger for 2+ days when Rosemary was born and it wore me out. Lots of napping goes on here after a Grand leaves! But like you, I wouldn't trade it for anything!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Wow, I can so relate to that, Sheila! It's wonderful and exhausting all at the same time, and we love it!!! Darling pics of the grands! Thanks for sharing the special fun time with us.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how we did all those things when our kids were small and didn't feel half as tired as we do now! Glad that you had so much fun with the little ones...now it's time for your nap, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Awe....looks like it was tons of fun!
ReplyDeleteOh Sheila you are the FARTHEST thing from the old gray mare.......you are youthful and lively and friendly and so so pretty and your zest for living shows loud and clear! I bet your grandkids absolutely adore you! Isnt being a grandparent the greatest!?? We love it!!
ReplyDeleteOh Sheila, your grandkids are so precious. It must have been a fun and exhausting time with them for three days. I don't have any grandkids yet, but keep hoping. The picture of the girls in the bathtub brought back sweet memories of a picture that I took once of my girls. Glad everything is settled now, and I can see why you wouldn't trade this for the world.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
love, ~Sheri
Oh Shelia, your grandchildren are adorable! Aren't they the best ever? There's nothing like grandchildren and keeping them all to ourselves! And there's nothing like the need for rest when they leave!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend and nap all you can!
Nancy

Beautiful grands--and a beautiful grandmother!
ReplyDeleteGrandkids are such a joy but they are also very tiring. It looks like they wore you both out with all the activities. Little blessings. :)
ReplyDeleteBoy, do I know what you mean. I'm picking up my three grands at daycare and keep them until Tiff gets home. Just loading them in and out of the car is a very tiring job. But, love that special time with them and it keeps me busy. The exciting grin on their face when I walk into daycare just makes my day. The Lord sure knew what He was doing when He invented grandchildren. Lots of love!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Isn't being a grandparent the very best thing in our world!! These darling Angels that brighten our spirits and wear out our backs! So glad you all enjoyed your blessings so much!
ReplyDeleteWarm Hugs,
Jemma
I understand, Shelia! God knew what he was doing when he gives children to the younger crowd! I love having my grands, but am usually worn out at the end of the day! Have a great weekend! ♥
ReplyDeleteGrands are awesome and full of energy! You'll enjoy looking at the blogging pics after a few years seeing how much they have changed. Great fun.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
d
Oh, I just love being a granma but mine are older now. I still get to go to netball and soccer games though but don't have to run around any more...phew.
ReplyDeleteDiana
I'm sure I'd feel the same way if I had to watch little ones for a few days but on the other hand how fun! It's such a short window when they're innocent and fun like this :-) Carter is too cute in her little tap outfit! Boy I would've loved learning that as a kid! Love the picture of Camp and Grandpa!
ReplyDeleteHaha -- laughing out loud before I got through the first paragraph! Oh come on, Grandma Shelia -- I can't imagine anything pooping you out. Well... OK. Two small children! What wonderful pictures, and remember --it's why you moved up north!
ReplyDeleteLove, Cass
Yes, we are not spring chickens anymore and it does wear you out keeping them. Good thing we can send them home. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, Oh what wonderful fun you had with your little darlings. They are getting so big. Love all your pics and especially the one where your sweetheart is reading a story to Camp. Too precious. Love pretty Carter in her tap dance outfit. These are the best days and go by too quickly. So glad you're in NY to enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteLoved the Note Song. I'll be singing this all day now!! LOL
Hugs and Blessings for a rest up weekend.

Forgot to say~~~ I'm lovin your pretty blog header!! XO
ReplyDeleteThey're really adorable but I can see they are at the age when keeping up with them is an energetic and tiring task. Still, what a treasure they are and how lucky you are!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll bet you wouldn't have traded that exhausting time for anything, Shelia! LOL! : ) There is nothing like grandchildren to help you feel your age.
ReplyDeleteI know you had a ball! They are such cute kids! Just be thankful you can still keep up with them!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I enjoy seeing your grands!! What fun you are having!!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand. As much fun as I have spending time with her, I'm usually not far behind when bed time comes around....lol
ReplyDeleteJeannette
I hear ya, Jen! I'm hoping I'll get more used to their energy!
DeleteThanks for popping in.

ReplyDeleteoh how wonderful that you had such special time with your grands. They look like they were having a terrific time with you. They sure can wear us grandparents out, can't they? Rest up and enjoy the weekend.
Mary
Oh, I hear you! I know exactly what you mean. I love my grandkids but I almost need a vacation on a tropical isle when they come to stay for a few days. Did we used to have that much energy? How did we do it when we were young moms? But I always look forward for them to come back again. Loved your photos - what a time you all had!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
What a marvelously grand time you had with the grand's. I love seeing them come & I love seeing them go. lol. I am a truly a old great grand gray mare.
ReplyDeleteThis post is so sweet, Shelia! Those grands are just adorable!!! It's great to see that "Green Eggs and Ham" never goes out of style from one generation to the next. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Denise at Forest Manor
