Hello, Dear Ones and can you believe January is coming to her end? Man, what a month for me.
Anyway, I thought I would show you what's been on my January mantel since it's all going away probably today...
A little background so you won't think I'm totally bonkers! Lots of folks around here keep their Christmas lights up outside, yep, they're still there. Now our lights are all gone and put away mind you, but lots of the neighbors seem to have forgotten Christmas is over. I'm thinking it's maybe because of all of the lovely snow that stays and stays. Anyway...I felt I could have a Christmasy, sort of, display on my mantel for January. Now if you know me, you know I love little Glitter houses and after Christmas was over I just couldn't seem to put them all away. So what was I to do?
Poke the ones screaming, "I don't look so much like Christmas, do I?" up here on the mantel to enjoy their precious glitterness a little while longer.
Of course my confectionary trees had to take center stage.
The glitterness continued all across my mantel. I have loved looking up here and seeing the wintry look but it's time to change it all up.
I took three snaps and combined them just so you could see the entire mantel, sort of, all together.
But darlings, it's cold outside so we lit a fire. You're probably wondering why my little stacking doll is sitting on the hearth. Well, wonder no more...
We've been babysitting our little Campie. Can't you tell how happy Mr. Precious is? We love this little man so much! He has the sweetest personality and just loves blueberries! :) He goes to the fridge points and says."ooo! ooo!" :) So the undecorating may have to wait a bit longer I guess. Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
January
January, sick and tired
You've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go
January, don't be cold
Don't be angry to me
You make me sad
Come and see, oh January
Don't go, don't go
Life gets me higher
I can show, I can go
I can wake up the world
Little world
Gotta know you, gotta show you
Sun, like a fire
Carry on, don't be gone
Bring me out of my home
Sweet home
Gotta know me, gotta show me
You've been facing the world
You've been chasing the world
January, sick and tired
You've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go
January, don't be cold
Don't be angry to me
You make me sad
Come and see, oh January
Don't go, don't go
Time, it's a flier
Sunny days fly away
English summers are gone
So long
Gotta go up, gotta grow up
Sun, like a fire
Carry on, don't be gone
Bring me out of my home
Sweet home
Gotta know me, gotta show me
You've been facing the world
You've been chasing the world
January, sick and tired
You've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go

Don't be angry to me
You make me sad

Shelia, your grandson is precious--and so is the Mister! I adore your mantlescape--the houses and trees create a magical world. xxoo
ReplyDeleteYour mantel was decorated perfectly for the snowy January you are having!
ReplyDeleteThose little glitter houses are so cute! I don't blame you for leaving them up ;)
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is adorable!
xo
I too have left my Christmas decorations that don't look too much like Christmas out because it is winter and I wanted to see them a little longer! Love your glitter houses! I have one of them! I mostly have snowmen and deer for winter. I, for one, am glad to see January go!!
ReplyDeleteWith yet another snow storm here today, your little glitter houses would be a nice touch in our house today! I do have a few and think I will keep them out longer next year just like you did.
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is a real cutie!
Take care
Jeannette
Your glitter houses are so cute! We are in for a lot more snow tomorrow night! I can't wait for spring. Your
ReplyDeletegrandson is so adorable. Have a nice weekend.
Kathy
I like your January mantel. I've been putting away my winter, frosty, sparkly things the past week too even though we've had nothing but snow storms and it's very wintry outside. I was getting too tired of it all. My grandson asked about my stacking dolls the other day too. They live 3000 miles away and we were Skyping and he wanted to see mine. He said he'd like to play with them the next time he comes to visit. Oh how I wish they were coming sooner than later!! Enjoy your time with Camp. He's a sweetie. Hugs. Pam
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute grand that Camp! I think your glittery mantel was a perfect pick me up for January. Love the pop of red! Christmas has been gone for awhile in our house...inside and out, except for a lit snowman outside. I think he should probably retire soon ! Enjoy your time with your buddy! Jane
ReplyDeleteI've thought of you so often recently. You've had quite a transition time to go from Texas to snowy New York; but you appear to be adjusting. Having those grandkids close by help, I'm sure. Probably it has been much harder to adjust to losing your devoted dog. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers. Sally
ReplyDeleteI think keeping your wintery/Christmas decorations up makes perfect sense there. How are you adapting to the cold and snow?
ReplyDeleteCamp is just precious. Those two grandbabies sure look alike. :)
Sweet grandson, and cute glitter village.
ReplyDeletehey sweet Pickle...love seeing all your little pretties...especially the little buildings with the bottle brush trees..I know how happy you must be to be so close to your precious grandbabies....oh my goodness Pickle..I am so sorry to hear about your little furbaby...I remember seeing her in your blog posts she was like a little celebrity in blogland...love seeing all the love you are bringing to your new home...hope you have a fantastic weekend precious friend..love you sooo...Picket
ReplyDeleteDarling shot of your guys! Little Campie is adorable. I know he loves staying at your house.
ReplyDeletePulling out the hearts around here, Shelia. Stay warm on the last day of January.
Time does fly. I like the little houses you have made, they are so pretty. I bet the little one would like to get his hands on them, he is a cutie. Hope you have a better year then you had in January. It was a tough one.
ReplyDeleteShelia, I love how you've left your cute little houses up for January. They are quite beautiful as is your little grandson.
ReplyDeleteI must comment on your beautiful leaded glass screen--It's lovely! ♥
A glittery snow village is just perfect for January! Oh Campie is a doll!!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Shelia,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Winter in the Northeast!! I leave my lights on outside, take down Christmas related things, add a few snowmen and other Winter things and I am decorated for the long Winter ahead!! I light up the house every night and brighten up the long Winter nights!!
We are expected to get another 8-12 inches of snow on Sunday!!
Hugs,
Deb
Those houses are gorgeous, Shelia! I don't blame you for keeping them out awhile longer. Did you make those? I think they make for a lovely mantel decoration and would like to do some one year for my mantel.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it is going to be February already! I'm happy because we are that much closer to Spring.
What a cutie pie your grandson is!
He is adorable. Don't you just love babysitting the grands. I love your glittery houses on the mantle. So pretty. I left some of my snowmen up for a bit after Christmas. I started painting a couple of those houses and haven't finished them yet. I need to so they will be ready.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the snow.
They both look so happy Shelia!! Your winter mantel looks so pretty I love those houses!
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't feel nearly so odd now. I still have several of my trees up -- mostly they look like winter trees, glittery and sparkly and lovely. Not much in the Santa line. But they make those long winter nights more than a bit brighter. I promise to have it all down by Lent. Maybe Valentine's Day. But yes, I love them. I'm still seeing street lights in my neighborhood and others, too, though mine are off. But they do cheer me indeed.
ReplyDeleteYour January mantle is lovely, I love your glitter houses...whatever time of year you have them up.
ReplyDeleteDiana
Oh, I meant to say, wee Camp is growing so much and both those men look absolutely delighted with each other.
ReplyDeleteDiana
Your mantle is fine and looks so good. I think grandpa love that little guy. Isn't it wonderful to be so close to your grands. You get to see them all the time - lucky you.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and enjoy the grands - they sure are beautiful children.
Mary
Love your mantle with the sparkle of the glitter houses.........there are no rules for decorating your own space!!! Many of my neighbors have their lights up still, I unplugged mine just last week. They are encased in snow and ice so it will be awhile before they come down!!
ReplyDeleteI think its because winter is long and can be so bleak up here, so the lights add some cheer. As for my home, all the greenery, pine cones and snowmen are still out, and I love seeing that color.......enjoy.....xoxoxo
Oh Shelia...those are the cutest little glitter houses I have ever seen! Just darling! I so admire your decor! It's always fun to visit and see such a lovely home! Your grandbaby is one cutie patootie!! Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, your little guy is precious and looks like Grandpa is so proud!! Love your winter mantel. Your glittered houses and trees are just so pretty and so nice to have enjoyed this for the month on January. Here we are in Feb now and how fast the time is moving on. I imagine you have pretty plans for your next mantel display and I look forward to seeing it Enjoy this day the Lord has made!!
ReplyDeleteHugs and Blessings
xo
Love your glittery houses too Sheila ! I just took mine off the mantel a week and a half ago :) Love those trees ! Such a cute little grandson !
ReplyDeleteI love your glitter houses! They look so pretty on the mantel. And yes...in NY, if you don't grab that window of opportunity to take the Christmas lights down outside (for instance those few fleeting hours when the mercury rises to 30 degrees) I find people will keep them up until May! lol
ReplyDeleteStay warm & enjoy that little cutie pie!
It's not bonkers to me! I used to keep my Christmas decor till end of January too! It would be hard to take away those houses. :-(
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty mantel and it is lovely to see it before you change it up. Mr Precious looks so happy indeed!! I am sure that you are both so pleased to be starting the new year in your new home so close to your wonderful family. xx
ReplyDeleteYour mantel is beautiful! I would have to keep them up also. Your grandson is so adorable. Blueberries are so good for him. You are starting him off right!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great! Like you, I still left out my little Christmas/winter trees on the mantel but of course put away the real Christmas type things....this weekend I added my valentine hearts and mugs and valentine type stuff. The winter trees and snowmen and hearts blend together pretty well, I think.
ReplyDeleteYou know...sometimes you just got to leave a little Christmas...or should we say "winter" ;) Enjoy the time with your grandson...what a sweetie....my daughter LOVED blueberries as well (and Lima Beans!) Those were her food staples for weeks lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by today :)
Karla & Karrie
Love your winter mantel with those beautiful glittery houses!....and that Campie is adorable...yes the decorations can wait...you are making precious memories!!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, surely everyone can see the resemblance between Campie and Mr Precious?! just like with you and Carter Shelia! It's quite amazing.
