The dishes I'm using belonged to my little Mother. I wanted to celebrate the season in her memory because when I was about 13 years old, my Daddy took me to pick out dishes for Mother. He literally let me pick out the pattern and this is what I choose. We would only eat off these dishes at special times and this Thanksgiving will be so special being here with our little family!
I was really happy with the way my centerpiece turned out. I wanted to put together something I could remove easily so I grabbed a silver tray and went to town.
I just poked as many pine cones under my cloche that I could and then started adding things til I got it the way I wanted it.
I sprinkled some leaves and sparkly topped acorns on the table. Also a few little bird tea light holders but the little birds decided to hold little pumpkins and gourds.I realized I haven't shown you the dining room yet! We need a rug for under the table and I have some lovely drapes to hang up but alas they are still folded up in the bottom of my closet! But the wallpaper got removed in here and the walls were painted Biscuit by Sherwin Williams and the wainscoting got a fresh coat of white paint. I've added the snap of the way the dining room looked before the redo...
It wasn't really horrible, just not my style. Now we still have that bejeweled disco ball chandy and that was going to be top priority to get changed out. Didn't happen, but it will eventually.
I moved my six legged table in here with my Dead Dog Lamp to make room in the living room for the Christmas tree! Yea!
Again, why change something if it works for you. I loved my wall of china in my old house and I repeated it here too. I was actually able to hang more plates on the wall since it's a larger space than I had before and...I just may add some more because I can! :) You're seeing some Christmas kissing crystals hanging on the knobs of the server ~ one for me and one for my daughter.
My simple little fallen vignette ~ my favorite Rooster and some pun'kins!
I want to thank all of you, my sweet followers, old ones and new ones for taking the time to visit me each week. I pray you all have a blessed Thanksgiving with friends and family. Don't we all have so much to be thankful for? I'll be seeing you after Thanksgiving as I need to start getting my act together to cook!

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Wonderful Merciful Savior
Wonderful, merciful Savior
Precious Redeemer and Friend
Who would have thought that a Lamb
Could rescue the souls of men
Oh you rescue the souls of men
Counselor, Comforter, Keeper
Spirit we long to embrace
You offer hope when our hearts have
Hopelessly lost the way
Oh, we've hopelessly lost the way
You are the One that we praise
You are the One we adore
You give the healing and grace
Our hearts always hunger for
Oh, our hearts always hunger for
Almighty, infinite Father
Faithfully loving Your own
Here in our weakness You find us
Falling before Your throne
Oh, we're falling before Your throne
Wonderful, merciful Savior
Precious Redeemer and Friend
Who would have thought that a Lamb
Could rescue the souls of men
Oh you rescue the souls of men
Counselor, Comforter, Keeper
Spirit we long to embrace
You offer hope when our hearts have
Hopelessly lost the way
Oh, we hopelessly lost the way
You are the One that we praise
You are the One we adore
You give the healing and grace
Our hearts always hunger for
Oh, our hearts always hunger for
Almighty, infinite Father
Faithfully loving Your own
Here in our weakness You find us
Falling before Your throne
Oh, we're falling before Your throne
~ sung by Selah

ReplyDeleteHello, Shelia,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been here in ages! I had no idea you left the warmth of TX to move here to NY! Welcome, and good health and happiness in your new home! Will you stay all winter or escape to the South like so many Northerners? Hope you have a wonderful Tgiving , your table is lovely! There's nothing like being close to your gkids. Our son has 5, and they are 90 min away. Even that is too far. We see them a lot during the summer out here in Southampton, but once school starts, only once a month. They grow up so quickly, so enjoy them!
So nice to hear from you and I couldn't get to your blog! So I hope you'll come back and see I've commented to you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
