Today I wanted to show you this darling little dress made from a small paisley print.
This little dress is both modest and chic with 3/4 length sleeves so your Barbie will look stunning in this. Doesn't my little model have the prettiest of hair?
To be that thin, have that beautiful hair and look that good in my clothes! Well, I can dream! :)
There is a neck facing which I didn't use. I just turned the neck down and topstitched it. Also, The sleeves are cut right with the front of the dress so as you're sewing up the side seams you sew up the underarm seam as well.
I added a little lace around the square neck and at the hem. You'll see two sets of stitching on the hem. One was for the hem and the other for the lace. Now Barbie has two new dresses and I think she looks very nice. If you'd like to make this little red dress:
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
She's A Lady
Well she's all you'd ever want,
She's the kind they'd like to flaunt and take to dinner.
Well she always knows her place.
She's got style, she's got grace, She's a winner.
She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady.
Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine.
Well she's never in the way
Always something nice to say, Oh what a blessing.
I can leave her on her own
Knowing she's okay alone, and there's no messing.
She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady, and the lady is mine.
Well she never asks for very much and I don't refuse her.
Always treat her with respect, I never would abuse her.
What she's got is hard to find, and I don't want to lose her
Help me build a mountain from my little pile of clay. Hey, hey, hey.
Well she knows what I'm about,
She can take what I dish out, and that's not easy,
Well she knows me through and through,
She knows just what to do, and how to please me.
She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She's a lady.
Talkin' about that little lady and the lady is mine.
Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady
Listen to me baby, She's a Lady
Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady
And the Lady is mine
Yeah yeah yeah She's a Lady
Talkin about this little lady
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa and the lady is mine
Yeah yeah She's a Lady
And the Lady is mine.

Sheila :-)
Cute dresses Sheila, I love the gathered waist and lace trim around the neck on the second one:@)
ReplyDeleteYou seriously missed your calling. xo
ReplyDeleteThe Barbie clothes you've made bring back memories of all the Barbie clothes my mother made for me and my sister. I've still got my Barbies and all the clothing, but I'll wait until our granddaughters are a little older before I let them play with the dolls. If I decide to make more clothing, I know where to come looking for patterns! You certainly have patience to stitch those miniature clothes, Shelia, and you do quality work, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm making American Girl dollclothes. Laynee got one for her birthday in June and she needed clothes. So, when she comes over, I let her watch me cut out and sew. She thinks she's partially responsible for dolly's new clothes. Fun, fun, fun.

To bad they don't make them in my size. I love the red one.
ReplyDeleteMy daughters and I absolutely love Barbie Mondays! After discovering your blog last week, the girls spent time cutting straws, soaking Barbie hair in fabric softener and cutting orphan socks for clothes... Thank you for the ideas and the fun!
ReplyDeleteSheila dear, you are an awesome seamstress. Love the pretty outfits. What fun you are making them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are getting settled in. Happy September. xo
