Hello, Dear Ones
Well, I thought I'd bring you out of the kitchen and into the den and show you the changes I've made in my builtins.
I took away a lot of books and a lot of other stuff.
I know this is not very minimal for some of you but I do like 'stuff'!
I'm just using less of my stuff. :)
Here the first area. See? Less stuff.
Yep that's Mr. Precious camera and it's hooked up to that extension cord that I cannot seem to hide.
I'm just sure when he's away he spies on me with his Ipad since it is pointed right at my chair where I sit and blog!
The middle section is really void of lots of my stuff.
Do you like my green backs? I painted the backs of my builtins the sweet color of green a couple of years ago and just love it. It kinda reminds me of ah, um, Jadeite! :)
Here's the last side...really simplified for me.
I hope you've enjoyed seeing the changes in my builtins.
My mantel clock seems to stay up there on the top middle shelf instead of the mantel.
My olden pair of tiny little lamps and that tray seem to stay here also.
I guess Mr. Precious' camera is going to stay there too so he can spy on me when he's away!
I need to talk to him.

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Every Breath You Take
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you
O can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Since you've gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you
O can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you
Since you've gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

LOL about the camera, Shelia! They make you wonder sometimes, don't they? : ) I love the green back to your built in shelves. It's such a nice pop of color and your accessories look great against it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Oh it looks so pretty Shelia, you have created such lovely and interesting vignettes. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLovely vignettes Shelia! Love your song at the end...lol! Hugs, Penny
ReplyDeleteOh- It looks nice, Shelia! I love the fresh green of the backs and you have beautiful "stuff". I need to declutter my own shelves a bit, too. Enjoy your night- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Love the green backdrop.
ReplyDeleteLovely Pickle..I really like the pop of green..as I also have to have color in my life..I would go mad in an all white/cream color house..Love ya dear friend..Hugs from my mountain to yours Gloria
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Shelia. The green backs look very serene and lovely with the pop of color. ♥
ReplyDeleteShelia, it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteVery nice....love the tray in the center, its beautiful......Oh, men, they're always up to something!!!
ReplyDeleteI really expected to see your cow snuck in there on a shelf!! LOL!!! Everything, including the green painted backs of the cabinet is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI envy you with the built ins. I love them and how you decorated them. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour new arrangement looks great. I need to rework my living room shelves. I tweaked a few things, but a new look would be fun. '-)
ReplyDeleteI love the green backs of these, yes! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLovely Shelia, I love the little lamps and the green backs are so fresh looking. x
ReplyDeleteI think less is more sometimes and it is refreshing to have a new look. Fabulous as always!
ReplyDeleteIt is always nice to shake things up. You already know I love the green since I did that to some of my shelves, too. About that camera -- I am sure Mr. P just wants to make sure you are safe and sound when he is not around. Hey -- that rhymes! You could make up a song with it!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, Love your shelves. It looks so fresh and pretty. The green really makes your treasures just pop. Gorgeous. I am doing less these days too. I love the collectibles, just not so much at once.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Hugs,
p.s. thanks for the sweet comment. Yes, I have played since I was 5 years old. School orchestra, church, nursing home and now just for home enjoyment. Yes, we need to do a duet!! LOL XO
Oh Dear Sheila, can you please come to my house and change and freshen it up. I really can use it:) Happy Monday my dear! You do a great job of styling your vignettes.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, I'm coming to you from That DIY Party. I love the pop of pretty green on your built-in and you have such pretty trinkets in your vignettes, especially those pretty square plates that you have on picture stands. Glad I found you and I must follow!
ReplyDeleteMarie @ The Interior Frugalista
Shelia I LOVE the pretty green color you painted the backs with...it makes all your pretty accessories pop!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the green you chose for the background! Years ago I did the same thing to my bookcases, only it was the dark hunter green, all the rage of the 1990's. I drilled a little hole in the back of one of the shelves for a lamp cord to snake through. All these plug -ins these days!
ReplyDeleteAnd as a co-lover of "stuff," I understand the trauma you've gone through to scale back your shelves. But it looks fabulous!
Shelia the built ins look fabulous. I too love my 'stuff' and so this looks pretty minimal to me! Oh that Mr Precious, he just wants to make sure you are safe while he is away! :)
ReplyDeletehugs, Linda
Love you display Sheila! You have a great knack for displaying your gorgeous pieces!
ReplyDeleteI love the green. I can never have green because my hubby hates it! Can the camera go on the bottom shelf and tip it up....that way you could tuck the wires on the side of the cabinet....just a thought!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, I like the idea of minimalism I just cannot do it. Your green backed bookcases are lovely. I joked to my hubs that I am likely the cause of our disaster as I had just dusted our enormous bookcase for the first time in Lord knows when and the next day Boom. xo, olive
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun to change your things around from time to time and have a different view of them isn't it! xx
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I noticed was the green background on the shelves. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThose are the prettiest bookcases I've seen in ages. You have inspired me. I'm going to put some of my books away!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Connie!
DeleteI would love for you to arrange my shelves for me. You really have a knack. This looks wonderful and I do adore the green backs. I have a friend who is thinking of painting her hutch backs a diff. color. I'll share your post with her.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie!!! Mildred
A perfection vignette and I love the soothing green color.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week.
Very pretty Shelia!! Love the tray with the lamps! I'm just like you, minimal to me is clutter to others!! I think you have it just right!! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeleteLovely builtin cabinetry, dear friend!!!
I am so~o~o smitten with your green bunny tea set!
All the greens look quite nicely against the "Jadite" green background!!!
Each vignette is stunning!!!
I have a thing about "cords" too, dear one,
but found I can edit them out with my software picture program on Windows 7. Yeah!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Your new arrangement of the shelves looks very nice, Shelia and I really like the green backdrop. Everything stands out nicely against it. I hope you have a wonderful week. Hugs, Pamela
ReplyDeleteThe camera cracks me up :) Love your arrangement of 'stuff'! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteLooks very nice. LOL spying on you.
ReplyDeleteLol on the camera. The built-ins look great. I like all your personal touches and I don't think it's too much at all. The green background looks wonderful and everything shows off so nicely because of it. I like the clock there- it's a perfect spot for it!
ReplyDeleteOh I love your built-ins. To have that space would be wonderful. There's never any room for anything in my house -- so small. I love the color green you painted the back. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, Shelia! All your posts have been and I've not been able to comment till I got my computer back. For whatever reason, I couldn't open the comment profile box on those without a drop down menu. But I was here and so lovely to see! I sure wish I had built-ins. These are great and I love the green back and all your spring pretties!
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeleteI love your shelves...and that green is so beautiful. Makes me want to run right out and get some green paint..Seriously, green is my favorite color anyway...Beautiful arrangement...
Love, Mona
Your shelves look amazing. I need to clean mine out a bit but...where would I put all the stuff?? :)
ReplyDeleteI sure am NO MINIMALIST....:)
XOXO bj
That is a beautiful shade of green, Shelia! I think your bookshelves look very lovely. Just remember, "One woman's stuff is another woman's treasures." I think that's how it goes.....lol!
ReplyDeleteFunny that you removed books to add other things, and I just recently removed other things to add more books -- good thing we aren't all alike!
I love the song you picked for this post. I would be so creeped out with that camera pointed at me. It would be gone in a heartbeat!! Your shelves look wonderful. The bunny teapot is gorgeous with the lighter green color behind it. I have the same little teapot - I love displaying it at Easter.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE your built-ins and that you took that extra step to do the gorgeous green backs! Inspires me to rearrange a few things in my living room. :) ~Danielle
ReplyDeleteShelia, what a fabulous new look! You sure do have some beauties on your shelves that I'd love to have! I love the greenbacks and you've staged your treasures in such a beautiful way. Absolutely charming vignettes!
ReplyDeleteNancy~
It all looks wonderful and you could not have picked a prettier color to paint the back of your cabinets. A pretty fern, Ivy or some such thing would hide your cord perfectly and soften the line of your shelves as well. OR...leave as is. Cords are just a fact of life! :):) It all looks lovely.
ReplyDeletePretty! I love that shade of vibrant green.
ReplyDeleteOh Sheila, it looks beautiful! So cheerful! Beautiful job! I love your home! xox
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Maryjane
What a perfect shade of green for the background of your book shelves. The painted tray in the center is so pretty. I have been looking for one of those. Everything is so pretty, floral, and colorful. I also love the pretty birds and tea set. You have a great eye for pulling things together in a beautiful way. Kathy
ReplyDeleteI'm late - catching up a bit! I LOVE that color on the back of your shelves. Your new arrangement is perfect. Absolutely perfect!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
You've styled your built-in beautifully, Shelia! I love the tole tray flanked by the pair of lamps. And your choice of lyrics is perfect for this post. :)
