Hello, Dear Ones. I thought I would change up these olden wall units in the den. I was so nice and covered up the TV screen for you! I forgot to turn it off before I snapped! :) Also, I've covered up where the cords are under the table where the TV sits...all for you! :) That's another project down the road.

We only have two flat walls in here. One wall is only about five feet long and is where I have my little drop leave table, lamp and constantly changing vignettes. Then there is the fireplace wall with the built ins on each side of it. The back wall is open and a step down into the sun porch. There are three door openings on these two walls. So to make my long story short, this is the only place for the TV and these cabinets. Whew!

Here's the first cabinet - books and birds! The backs of my cabinets have some foam board that I covered with fabric a while back and the fabric lightened it up a bit inside.

Here's the top. I keep the greens up there to hide Mr. Precious' little Boise speakers. See it hiding on the left hand side? And, since we live so close to the beach, I always have this glass thingy with two little star fish up here.

Moving right along - neatly stacked books and little thrift shop birds from long ago.

One of a pair of little thrift shop birdies.

The next shelf has more little birdies, books and a sweet little bowl filled with some of my faux Hydrangeas! I love my fauxs and my fauxs love me!

Isn't this a sweet little pair? Love my little birdies! Can you love little ceramic birdies? Why you bet your chicken feathers you can! :) Still thinking about my yard birds! :)

Here's the other cabinet to the right of the TV.

More greens on the top trying their best to hide the little speaker. This one doesn't seem to be doing such a good job at it! :) Greens on tops of cabinets are kinda like the hair on our tiny heads, don't you think? :)

Books, a bird tray and more little birdies! They're cute too I think!

Here's an olden clock that was given to me by my daughter many years ago. Here you can see a few Confederate books. Mr. Precious loves this stuff! :)
Well, hope you've enjoyed seeing the few changes I've made in my cabinets.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song~
Happy Together
Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it's only right
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together
If I should call you up, invest a dime
And you say you belong to me and ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be, so very fine
So happy together
I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life
Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together
I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby the skies'll be blue
For all my life
Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together
Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba
Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba
Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together
So happy together
How is the weather
So happy together
We're happy together
So happy together
Happy together
So happy together

ReplyDeleteI like the material you used for the back of the bookcases. Looks similar to mine...books, birds, etc. but our speakers are too big to cover up!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty. Love your books and birdies. The fabric in your books shelves is such a nice touch.I have that clock on my mantle!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, I love all your little birdies, I think they would get along well with my little birdies! I like the idea of fabric covered boards in the book case, I have to try something like that. I saw that cute little crocheted chicken over at BJ's, too cute! xo

ReplyDeleteShelia,

Hi
ReplyDeleteGreat way to camouflage the speakers. That's the hard part - hiding today's technologies to make things more homey. You shelves look warm and inviting. I think I have those same fake hydrangeas - I like to tuck them into a basket on the front door in the fall.
Leann
Hello Shelia! I love the idea of the leaves covering the speakers. A woman's creative touch disguising a man's gadget. I see familiar books too such as Rick Warren's purpose driven life, one of my favorites. And the featured song post is btw my favorite too! Have a great day!
ReplyDeletePerfect cabinets to change around and I love the new look. All those cute birdies make me smile.
ReplyDeleteLook wonderful....andn books are my weakness...

ReplyDeleteAnd perhaps so more greenery?
This post was loaded with idea's.
I bought an entertainment center a few years ago. My husband was extremely ill and our TV set quit on us so I sent someone to buy us a TV..they came home with one that was WAY smaller than I asked for and now I am trying to fill in the space around it...
Wish I had done the decoration trick you did for you TV. NICE!
Really nice, Shelia.
Everything looks great in your two units. I love your little birdies and that clock!
ReplyDeleteYour house always looks so good!
Love your updates.. birdies are always welcome around here!!! I know what you mean about lack of walls.. I have a wall of windows in my living room and one wall with fire place and one wall where the sofa will fit.. it's all looking great at your house! xo marlis

ReplyDeleteI love your post today but I have to say that I am particularly impressed by your photo-shopping skills in deleting the TV image. You are so clever!
Best wishes for a lovely weekend,
Natasha.
I understand your constraints. I think you did a great job with what you were given. I have 4 door sized windows and a fireplace to work with, but I love the room.
ReplyDeleteShelia, Your shelves look so pretty. I got a chuckle out of your remark that the plants on top are like hair on our heads. laurie
ReplyDeleteI love how you decorated your wall units. I just adore those little ceramic birdies ..have a great weekend Sheila!
ReplyDeleteYOU DID AN OUTSTANDING job re-doing that wall unit.
ReplyDeleteI also adore birds sitting around.
I need to re-arrange things a bit, I tend to keep things the same to long.
Hugs,
jamie
Hey, Shelia! I am getting caught-up on your blog after my break. Your tea towels are so cute, and I think the ruffles on them are adorable! I also love the little crocheted chick pot holders. I have some red Le Creuset pots they would look cute with ;P
ReplyDeleteI wish I could find cute little birdie figurines at our local thrift store. I rarely find anything nice like that at ours....
Your bookcase looks great!
