Whiter Shade of Pale Mantle

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, it was time for me to redress my mantle in the den. So I went to town.

I pulled down all of my patriotic things and started looking around the house for something different to poke up on the mantle. I think mantle decorating is hard, do you?

I thought I was hearing bells ringing and immediately thought about my silver pieces! That's it! That's exactly what I'd do. So...

I poked up two champagne buckets - one little and one big! Then I poked down an ice bucket. All of these pieces are tarnished and I like that. I did use a couple of books to raise and give height! I'm so smart like that you know! ;)

Then I grabbed my tub of faux flowers and pulled out these white daises! Love it! You know how I love my fauxs and my fauxs love me! :) Yay! One side was done but what would I do to the other side?

Well, being as talented as I am, I grabbed one of my silver trays and poked it in the stand! Looked good to me. Then I had recently found this sweet little silver bowl at a thrift shop and poked her down with a few white roses. Then my mantle is never complete without my starfish!

Isn't this the sweetest little piece?

My faithful mantle starfish. Perfect! Give em a smile, sweetie! :)

Here's a peep from the left hand side.

And here's a peep from the right hand side.

Oh, I almost forgot. It's summertime and time to bring out some fish jugs. This one sits happily on the hearth and I do believe he's singing that old song "Whiter Shade of Pale". I love my fish jugs! :)

So this is one of the things I've been doing. Working and singing with the AC cranked down as low as I can get it and sipping on my Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper! What have you been doing? :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

A Whiter Shade of Pale

We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale

She said, 'There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well've been closed

She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,'
though in truth we were at sea
so I took her by the looking glass
and forced her to agree
saying, 'You must be the mermaid
who took Neptune for a ride.'
But she smiled at me so sadly
that my anger straightway died

If music be the food of love
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
and attacked the ocean bed
