I've set the table with some dishes I found last year at a thrift shop. They're rather olden. I love the sweet little pattern with the garlands of flowers between the dark red (more like burgundy) bands. The pattern is Brittany by Homer Lauglhin.

I poked in some vintage valentines among the plates and other pretties. More Valentine love.
I just love Valentine love, don't you?

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day,

Sheila:
ReplyDeleteGreat table. I love that pattern Britany. I have a few peices I've picked up here and there and just love the depth of color with the roses. Although not a terribly fine china, it is so full of color and life.
You also got me thinking as I have those Spode fruit plates as well and never would have thought of putting them with red, but they look spectacular. I actually have them stashed with my fall dishes as I tend to think of them as fall colors. I think I need to pull them out and play with them.
Thanks for all of the inspiration.

Hi Shelia,
ReplyDeleteYour tablescape is so sweet!! Everything is very evocative of Valentine's Day. I really like your Homer Laughlin dishes. My Mom has a set of Homer Laughlin dishes complete with serving pieces and everything that she got with Green Stamps years ago. I have always loved it. Your silver-plate pieces are beautiful and I adore the cross-stitched napkins! I posted my first tablescape at Susan's TT yesterday, and if you have a minute, please stop by to see it. I appreciate all views and comments, as I am new to blogging. By the way, I love the name of your blog. We are all musical at our house, so I can really appreciate your choice of names. My husband, my son, and myself play piano, and my son is in his University concert and pep band -- he plays French Horn and Mellophone.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Denise
Such a lovely table Shelia! I love those dishes...very elegant. How are you these days. I've not been on my regular rounds...
ReplyDeleteHave a very Happy Valentine's Day!
Sheila~
ReplyDeleteThis was a beautiful post! I love the Homer Laughlin dishes! I have one little bowl & plate that I found in the same pattern, but my heart went *pitter patter* when I saw your place settings! Thank you for sharing; you are an inspiration!
Blessings,
Cindy
Trying to catch up on what you have been up to. I absolutely love these thrift find dishes. They are olden but beautiful. Makes them all the more precious. Just wonder what dear little lady had these? Bet, she didn't show up @ blogging parties. :) You have set a beautiful table with them. Sweetness to you on this sweet day!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the beautiful Homer Laughlin, china. I love any of the HL china. So great that you got them thrifting. The red tablecloth with the lace is so festive. I am so glad it survived the scrunch. I did notice you have another scrunch going on the the lovely hutch. Don't scrunch to hard. Love the valentine look of the hutch. You be the sweetie, Hugs, Ginger
