I usually put piping or ruffles on my pillows and then just enclose the entire pillow form. But not this time, no, no, Nannette! This time I was going to give my pillows the slip! Slip covered pillows that is and I was going to revamp some of my old pillows.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

If My Pillow Could Talk
If my pillow could talk
If my pillow could talk
If my pillow could talk
It would tell you 'bout
My sleepless nights
(My sleepless nights)
Tell you 'bout the rivers I cried
Ever since you said goodbye
(Since you said goodbye)
If we just could have talked it over
Before you ever put me down
(Oh, you put me down)
You know I love you much too much
To think about you running around
If my pillow could talk to you
(Yeah, yeah)
Know how much I miss your kiss
(Yeah, yeah)
It would tell you how much
I toss and I turn
Waiting for you, darling, to return
Yes, my pillow could tell you too
Not one word they said was true
If my pillow could talk to you
(Could talk to you)
If my pillow could talk to you
(Yeah, yeah)
Know how much I miss your kiss
(Yeah, yeah)
It would tell you how much
I toss and I turn
Waiting for you, darling, to return
Yes, my pillow could tell you too
Not one word they said was true
If my pillow could talk to you
(Could talk to you)
If my pillow could talk to you

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
If my pillow could talk to you

If my pillow could talk to you...

Shelia, your new pillow slips look fantastic. I love the colors and the fabrics. Isn't it such fun to just give them a little different fabric. Love them. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia - I really like your new slips. The large floral patterns are just yummy. You are so smart for slipping over the fringe, I have some pillows that I could/should do that with. Stay sweet! Kim
ReplyDeleteBoy, you are on a roll gal, what total transformation. Looks so comfy and just perfect for the "neglected one" to relax on...by the way... where is that little dear?
ReplyDeleteYou have so many talents... Truly gifted.
Nice job Sheila! Love the fluff! That is so nice you make your own...I have to learn how to without using stitch witch!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the pillows 'slips'! I love the flowered prints - very pretty.
ReplyDeletePamela
Sheila, I love your slips. Great fabric mixing there and you are the party girl!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia!
ReplyDeletei love the new look of your pillows. It just freshens the whole room!
Have a lovely weekend!
Hey party girl! Loving the new slips and pillows...sooooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday~
Lovin' your new pillows Sheila, what a fun project! They look great-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteHello Shelia! I love that sofa! I think any pillows would look great on that gorgeous neutral color but the ones you made are perfection!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia,
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to just use pillow slips on the pillows so you can change them up! Very clever.
Love how they all turned out.
hugs
Sissie
You have been busy, girlfriend. These are just gorgeous. It must be a good feeling to make things yourself...I so wish I could sew! Beautiful fabrics!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Sheila they look fabulous,I love the fabric and your sofa is really pretty too.I have a fondness for damask.
ReplyDeleteThe pillows look fabulous, Shelia. Love the mix of fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI love how you gave your pillows the slip! Little Carter is growing fast and just so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend,
Carolyn
Oh yeah, you sure did "give them the slip!" And very prettily, I might add! I usually, when making pillows, make the sham-like things so I can wash them. All the pet hair, you know. I wouldn't know how to do piping!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
GREAT Job !!! Those slips look awesome !!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday,
gena
Love your 'new' pillows! I need to get busy and MAKE pillows. I have the fabrics and the pillow forms but haven't be sure whether or not to try pillows on the sofa and living room chairs because Mr. Joey likes to adopt them for a nap. He crunches and pushed them to get them just right and sometimes he finds a bite or two is a tasty treat before he nods off! Thinking I'll wait till he's a bit older - or find some way to train him to leave them alone when I'm not looking!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Love your "renewed" pillows...Have a wonder5ful weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the beautiful floral fabrics you used! I have 2 pillow shams out of that same red floral fabric that I bought at a yard sale so I could use the fabric for something. Such a great print! Changing out pillows is so fun and really makes a big change.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing what a little color will do to brighten up a space! I still love that red background print= so cheery.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your pillows-I have several that need a slip job!

ReplyDeleteI love those pillows! I've just been looking at some in Pottery Barn since I have no sewing talent. What I really want to comment on is that FB photo with you and your husband with General Lee. And, would those ancestors be the Carters of Carter's Grove Plantation? I am a Virginia Belle--born and bred--transplanted to the midwest but my heart stays in the south!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Your new pillows look great. I love slipcover pillows too...makes them easy to clean :-)

Hi Shelia, Your "new" pillows look wonderful on the sofa! The color is so happy for these bleak winter days! And I scrolled back and saw little Carte--she is really a living doll, isn't she? Have a wonderful day. Linda
ReplyDeleteOh Shelia, your pillows look beautiful, gosh I wish i was this handy. By the way, i also love your sofa.

Shelia...your pillows look great! I need a new sewing machine so badly. Mine is one my sister bought when I was around 8 years old...it's ancient! I want to grow up to be just like you and make my own pillows! :)
ReplyDeleteXO
Susan
They are so cute as a bugs ear :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat job !
Kammy
Sheila, these are great. I love it when you can recycle, oops, slip pillows.
ReplyDeleteLove that you used fabric you already had. You are surely a sweetie. Hugs, Ginger
Love your pillow slips Shelia...you're right, they are the greatest for being able to change it up quickly. You did a great job on the colors and look great with or without extra trim..sometimes basic is best! Have a lovely day
ReplyDeleteExcellent way to perk up a room. Love them. Love that you had the fabric on hand, too. Love that the fabric is out and about instead of being stored away. I'm inspired. "Pillows" are now on the to do list here, too!
ReplyDeleteSince I am working both the PS and Met Monday lists, not sure where I came from so Happy Pink Saturday (from my project over on linensandlaurel) and "Good Job" for Met Monday! :-)
Sheila,
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by!
Your pillows are beautiful...I also use the red floral fabric in my den and I never tire of it.
Isn't it a wonderful feeling to fluff your nest!
Wishing us both a closer walk with our Saviour...
Betty @ Country Charm
You're such a smart girl with very talented tiny fingers. You know I always love your pillows - and I have one of my very own. It makes me smile and think of you every day.
ReplyDeleteAnd, ooh lookie. I see shades of pink.♥
Shelia, I forgot to ask you earlier (and I would like to know)... do you use zippers in your slips? What is an easy way for a novice (and I'm talking I can sew with a needle and thread and not by machine) sewer to make pillow slips that look decent? I have done this before, but my pillows always look ratty on one side where I try to baste (is that what it's called?) the place where I close it. Would velcro be a good bet? I need to do this to a few pillows, and I am not wanting to pay to have it done. Thanks for any advice you can render!
ReplyDeleteLove you...
XO,
Sheila :-)
That's lovely, Shelia. I keep thinking of tranforming my sofa as we can't afford a new one right now, but I have seen anything I like yet. I'm just a little busy with other things, but will start looking around once the weather starts to warm up.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed day, sweet friend :o)
Hugs
Hi Shelia! I love your slips...so pretty! The floral is my fav! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice!!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors!
You're always improving your already-lovely home. This is yet another good idea.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, Shelia.
My lord, girl...never saw so many parties attended at one time. You are INDEED, a party girl :)))
ReplyDeleteLove all your pretty pillows.
Shelia~I've got that same Waverly floral fabric (shown in 3rd photo).
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately...my talents don't exceed past the glue gun. But, you have inspired me to give sewing a second look, especially after seeing your slips.
Your pillows added a nice fresh new look.
Oh my heart...lil Carter has grown. Shes sooo precious! Her sweet expressions are precious, especially with her wee teeth.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Love those chintz pillows Shelia. They really brighten the room. Lovely. Happy New Year. Jane
ReplyDeleteHi Sweet Sheila, What awesome slip cased pillows you created! I love them! I'm a PILLOW nut, another one of my items I collect for my bedrooms. I've been known to have as many as 13 pillows on one bed...I won an award from my niece one year and was written up in her yearly Christmas letter. Isn't that funny? Can't wait to meet you in person at Claudie's this summer! :) Hugs, ~CC Catherine
ReplyDeleteMorning sweet Pickle...love the new pillows especially those golden ones...now you know I am a closet sewer...you need to give instructions on those slip covers (in elementary grade level of course!!! lol) Girl I never seen anyone link to so many 'parties' in all my born days! lol Mr Pickle needs to keep a tighter rein on you girl!
ReplyDeleteOh and I loved those pics of Carter...makes you just want to kiss her little cheeks off!!! have a great week sweetie...love ya girl...Picket

Hope you've had a great day...

Thanks so much for dropping by my blog! I love the pattern on your red floral pillows. My mom used to use that fabric a lot and it always reminds me of her.
ReplyDeleteI love mix and match floral pillows, so I love your little project. My favorite are the gold ones. All that color and pattern really perks up your sofa, so I know you must feel happy and cheerful here in the winter while having such fun colors to enjoy!
