Hello, Dear Ones. Here's another prepost for you! Think of me while I'm away because I'm thinking of you! :)
Hello Dear Ones, today I thought I would show you more of my Redwork. I found these patterns in a book from the library in the late 1980s, traced them onto some pillow cases and went to town with my little needle and red thread. I use these on our bed during the summer months. Think they look rather nice with my
matelasse cover.

shhh...I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
When at night I go to sleep
Fourteen angels watch do keep;
Two my head are guarding,
Two my feet are guiding;
Two are on my right hand,
Two are on my left hand,
Two who warmly cover
Two who o'er me hover,
Two to whom 'tis given
To guide my steps to heaven.
Sleeping softly, then it seems
Heaven enters in my dreams;
Angels hover round me,
Whisp'ring they have found me;
Two are sweetly singing,
Two are garlands bringing,
Strewing me with roses
As my soul reposes.
God will not forsake me
When dawn at last will wake me.

Sheila-Rumor has it that you are sitting in the lap of luxury right now! I am glad you are still thinking of your poor friends :) I love your needlework on these! Have fun in the "new chapter"!

ReplyDeleteHow nice of you to think of us in Blogland while you're off traveling. I hope you're having fun!
I love the red work. I had never seen that post. Although you're away, they would be spectacular for Christmas. You are quite talented my dear. You hardly ever see great needlework these days.
I used to do some, but these days there isn't time. I had a great Aunt that purchased plain white curtain and designed a pattern to coordinate with her wall paper. She then embroidered each of her kitchen curtains. It was amazing. I wish I had a photograph of them.
Thanks for sharing. You've brought back some amazing memories for me.
Happy New Year!

Hi Sheila
ReplyDeleteYour redwork is gorgeous. Your bedroom looks wonderful. I can totally understand Chloe Dawn wanting to snuggle in that lovely big bed.
Hope you are enjoying your break.
Happy New Year.

Sheila!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! You are such a talented one!
I adore both of these pillows and their lovely expressions. Do you give lessons to the inept aka other Sheladies who have two left thumbs??? ;-)
I hope you are having fun, my dear friend, and that wherever you are, you are taking lots and lots of pictures to share with us. I miss you!
I'm on a break, too, and am just trying to get reorganized. I've never been more disorganized at Christmas. It caught me off guard this year, and let me tell you, I'm still swimming upstream. LOL!
Love to you and have fun!
XO,
Sheila :-)

ReplyDeleteHappy almost New Year dear Shelia, I hope you are off having lots of fun. I think this post has given me an idea for my New Year's resolution...to finally do some redwork and other needlework that I keep putting off.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, Bridge
Your redwork pillows are beautiful. I have a wall quilt with redwork teapots (Debbie Mumm design) that I need to get out of my UFO pile and work on again.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
It takes a lot of patience to do that, Shelia, but it's all worth it. The embroidery is beautiful and the pillows look really nice on your bed. Happy New Year!...Christine

ReplyDeleteDear Shelia,
ReplyDeleteI LUV your redwork!
The first time I saw redwork was when I was visiting a Mennonite Museum in Goessel, Kansas. I thought it was so very pretty.
Vibrant to anything I had seen before.
You take care and may you have a very blessed new year!!!
