Oh, it's time to get your dishes out and play! It's
Tablescape Tuesday and this most wonderful dishy event is hosted by our most fabulous
Tablescape Diva Susan at
http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ . Go see Susan and you will marvel at how pretty a dinner table can be!

Today I have a little different spin on my
tablescape. You see this little
tablescape is just for me - all by my self! A little round table in my living room is set for one - Moi!

I placed a crocheted doily over my little round table and brought out a place setting from my Blue Willow dishes. I love my Blue Willow dishes. Can you love Blue Willow dishes? What do you think! ;)

Okay, first you can see all the layers of the plates and bowls starting with the little bowl on top that I like to call a berry bowl and ending with the dinner plate. I think I'm going to have lots of courses to eat all by myself.

I truly love this old pattern. If you ever see an old western on TV and they're eating, just look at the dishes. Most of the time they are using Blue Willow dishes. Yep,
padner,
eatin' them beans and taters and a biscuit or two outta them Blue
Willer dishes. Oh, excuse me, I got carried
away talking like a cowboy. Well, I guess that would be a cowgirl, but I don't think the girls would have talked like that. I know I wouldn't. See how easily I get sidetracked!?

Back to the table for one...

These are some pretty old oil and vinegar jars. I'm missing one of the stoppers.

Now the little salt and peppers...

I'm using this little child's play dish as a bread plate. Isn't it the cutest little thing? I found this in an antique shop many years ago and I'm sure it was from some little play dishes. Well, I love to play, so I had to have it! ;)

Blue stemmed glass ready for my iced peach tea! You know how I love my peach tea!

I've saved this little lovely till last. This is a little footed nut cup from a set that I have. You're wondering why this would be on my table for one? Well...just fill it with warm water and squeeze a little lemon juice in there and...

you have yourself a sweet little finger bowl. Just place your little fingers ever so gently into the water and you will wash away any nasty stinky smells from your little dainty fingers after your meal. How refreshing!

Well, Dear Dishy Ones, there you have it...my table for one set with Blue Willow dishes and three little candlesticks. Um, my flickering flames look like they could be dangerous so I had better blow out the candles. If I start a fire I won't be by myself much longer!
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
All By Myself
I'll leave you with a little Note Song~
When I was young
I never needed anyone
And makin' love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody's home
All by myself
Don't wanna be, all by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live, all by myself anymore
Hard to be sure
Sometimes I feel so insecure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure
All by myself
Don't wanna be, all by myself anymore
All by myself
Don't wanna live, all by myself anymore
~sung by Eric Carman
Oh how I wish I had kept all my blue willow here in the U.k...but I went through a I need to update and throw out the chintz phrase a couple of years ago....I blame Ikeas advert.
ReplyDeleteOh I loved tht Eric Carmen song - thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteNow your table for one is very impressive. I love the blue willow - I think it is timeless. the childs plate is adorable. I saw a similar set recently and so wanted to buy it but would look a bit stupid doing so at my age with no little ones around anymore.
OK, well this cowgirl better hop on her hourse and ride off into the sunset - have a great day Shelia! Love to you Mom!
Howdy neighbor~ :)

Of course, I love your Blue Willow - I have them, also. I cherish my solitude, so a dinner all by myself sounds fun. However, I probably wouldn't set the table - just eat over the sink would be my style alone. Take care of yourself, Sally
ReplyDeleteI love your blue willow too! Thanks for the pictures. I have a complete child's set of blue willow dishes. They were given to me by my grandma and I think of her when I see them. I have them displayed on a shelf in my kitchen.

ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, Aren't you funny with your cowboy talk? LOL! Beautiful tablescape! :)
ReplyDeleteHope your mom is doing better! ~hugs, Rhonda :)
I love your place setting and what fun to do such a nice thing for your self but you sent me off to reminisce about one of my favorite movies- Open Range - where Kevin Costner as Charley breaks Annette Bening as Sue's china. So what does Charley do before the big gun fight where he is facing certain death. He goes to the mercantile and buys her more china. And if that isn't love then I don't know what is. Oh my romantic heart.
