Getting Back to Normal

Normal? What is normal? Well, 2009 in our house has started off with a bang! Isn't that how you're supposed to end the year? Well, we decided we would reverse it and bang it is! Even went to bed at 7:00 pm on New Year's Eve. You know we're such party peeps! lol

You know Christmas decorations have to come off the tree and be put away in their special little places. So that's what I've been doing between nursing and running all over the house.
How come each year when you start to put away your Christmasy things, they seem to multiply? Well, I guess I did buy a few extra things or two.
How come all the pretty glass ornaments didn't come with special boxes so they won't get broken? Oh my goodness, I'm tired! I've almost gotten everything put away.

I am still so grateful for all you, my sweeties, thinking of us with my Mother all busted up! She's doing pretty well and we do have home health care nurses coming this week and helping her and some occupational therapy folks to help her learn more how to use her left hand (she's right handed and she broke her right arm). Thank you again for your prayers.

Now, to the funny stuff. You know I told you my Mother was talking crazy while taking the nasty ole Vicodin? She was asking me why I had changed my hair color to snow white? Well, one of my precious sweeties just couldn't help herself and she sent me a picture of my most gorgeous self and she made my hair white or is it platinum?
Ta dah!!! Look at me! All Snow White Headed! Am I gorgeous or what? ;) I'm printing this out to show my Mother - she'll laugh. Hopefully I can get back to blogging. I've missed you all so much and I am slowing getting around to see all of you! Love love hug hug!!

You are a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night

Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room
I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume
Your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be
Your gentle hand reached out to comfort me
Then came the dawn And you were gone
You were gone, gone, gone
I had too much to dream last night

Too much to dream
I'm not ready to face the light
I had too much to dream
Last night
Last night
The room was empty as I staggered from my bed
I could not bear the image racing through my head
You were so real that I could feel your eagerness
And when you raised your lips for me to kiss
Came the dawn
And you were gone
You were gone, gone, gone
Oh, too much to dream
Oh, too much to dream
Too much to dream last night
~sung by the Electric Prunes

  1. LOL!! You look smokin' with white hair! I'll be putting my stuff away tomorrow! It aint much!

Glad to hear things settled down with your mum and she is getting care at home.

  2. You look great as a blonde! Do they really have more fun?

Hope your mom continues to do well.

    I gave you an award!

  3. Shelia, you look gawjus with white hair. White hair has a special place in my heart and on my head! Of course, I prefer the platinum description!

It's good to hear things are moving toward normal, for you.

  4. Actually you do look gorgeous as a platinum blonde!! Glad you are still smiling and things are looking up and you are getting some nursing help. Take Care.

  5. The white hair looks fab-ulous on you! You have such a wonderful way of looking at everything!

  6. Wow in that picture you look gorgeous no matter what your hair color!!! Glad your mom is doing better. We are getting back to normal today cause after two weeks off Lexi is going back to school, after school practices and dance.

  7. You look like you have my what I call...'GLOW-IN-THE-DARK-SILVER' hair, (which no one will EVER see)!! You're glowing!!!!

    Have a blessed week, sweetie...

  8. I love your hair color, you are beautiful with it. Glad your on your way to being normal again.:)

  9. Hi Blondie,
I'm so glad your mom is doing better. I feel your pain.
Last year my mom had back surgery and I had to help her do everything from bathing to dressing. Her at 82 was no easy task. I just kept remembering how time does go full circle. They did for us and now we do for them.
I still have my decorations up for a few more days. Not looking forward to the task.
    Happy New Year.

  10. Morning Shelia~

Just love your new locks~ I'm with Raxx~ you are smoking HOT! :) I'm glad your Mother is doing better. I will keep her in my prayers.

I was glad to get my house back together, too ~ I also had to find new boxes for new items purchased. :)

    Hugs~ J

  11. Cute hair!! Gives you a taste of what it could be some day. :)

  12. Good morning Goldilocks! It looks good on you! I'm so glad to hear that things are in a better place for Miss Lucille and for you. I can't imagine how frustrating it is for her to have to use her left hand when she's a righty. My mom had to do the same and actually got pretty proficient with her left hand by the time her right arm had healed. Just take it one day at a time and hang on to your sense of humor for dear life!

  13. To live a life as a right handed person and then at this age to have to learn to use the left--what torture. I'm glad that she's getting some professional help. She's fortunate to have a devoted daughter and son-in-law. Thanks for sharing.

  14. white hair looks good on you! :-) we have a saying over here...

everything looks good on the pretty! (doesn't sound all that good in english) ;-)

I have tried all sorts of colors too.. I am dark blond myself (although my picture shows orange.. but that is manipulated)

  15. Good Morning Sweetness.... For some reason I have a few minutes of internet right now so I wanted to get on and comment on as many as I could... I am thrilled to hear your mother is doing better and I will continue to pray for her speedy recovery... Also aren't you just the little Diva with your white hair... Just gorgeous... Good to hear things are getting back to normal for you all...It is kind of blah without all the decorations for me... LOVE THEM! Have a splendid day and give mama a great big kiss & hug from me... Love ya

  16. OH Pickle you look smokin hot with white hair..that Jean harlow look..So glad to hear you Mama is doing better girl..and I had the same problem with my Christmas stuff it kinda grew on me this year..we just got our all put away on Saturday and now the house seems so big..hope you have a great day dear friend...hugs and smiles Gloria

  17. Oh silly! You could totally go blond! Love it!

  18. I am sure it will be an arduous journey to complete recovery with many unknown, at this time, pitfalls ahead. Hopefully any setbacks encountered will only cause a brief slowdown in progression to a return of good health and self sufficiency.

  19. I think you may be one of those women who look good in any hair color. Glad things are settling down and almost back to normal.

  20. Shelia, I do hope your dear mother will be ok. Love the white hair! Guess that's what you'll look like in 40 or so years! :O) I'm leaving you an award over at my blog - take your time (I have!) It's taken me at least 2 weeks to get it posted. Hope your holidays were happy!

  21. Definitely, you look gorgeous!
I have to try this color too.

Good to know your dear mom is almost well.

God bless you and your family!

  22. Shelia... what a hoot! But you know what? I actually LIKE you in white hair, but I love your regular hair color as well. I just like you with HAIR! LOL! :-)
Or even without. You's just likable!

If you read this, I know someone who wants to be a DIVA. How does one go about it? She's had me take a picture of her, and how do I get that to you??? If you get a chance, please let me know.

  23. Saaaay, you look pretty cute with white hair!! But I think I still like you better as a redhead! I'm so very thankful to hear that your mother continues to improve.

  24. Ha Cha a Hottie! NOW you should try a Farrah Fawcett type hairdo to go with your platinum locks!

I know what you mean about putting away' just seems to get bigger and bigger. I told myself NO MORE BUYING CHRISTMAS stuff...I have plenty. But then when I go to the store and see 50-80% off and everything's so cute..I buy anyway.

Glad to hear your momma's doing better! I'm back at work today and wish I was at home in my pj's blogging.

  25. As long as I can lift my arm I will be a blond! Hehehe. I use to think the age of 60 should go white, now as I come closer it seems I was BADLY mistaken and 80 looks good white! heheh..Kathy

  26. Just found your blog. Man, it's cutecutecute! Love all your eye-candy photos. I'm impressed that you're the pianist for your church. I love to sing hymns and that's what my blog is devoted to -- hymns and life. LOL

    All the best,

  27. I agree about the decorations multiplying. You know that happens even when you don't buy any new ones LOL!!

I think you look great with your white hair :) You are glowing!

I'm glad your mother is on the mend. My thoughts continue to be with you both.

    take care,

  28. I think your hair would look fabulous that color... Doris Day platinum. :)

SO sorry to hear about your mom's accident.

  29. Glad your Mum is doing better, I feel the same way about the decorations they sure do multiply and are the holidays rolling around extra fast or what !!! I should just keep em up all year !

  31. That platimum hair is hot, Sheila, haha!

Hope your mom is feeling better soon.

    Happy New Year!

  32. Hi Shelia
Oh its good to see you laughing and you should print that pic for your mother...see if she recognizes you from her thoughts when she wasn't thinking straight.

I'm so glad she's feeling better and having some nursing help for both of you.

All the best with everything this sure to take some rest time too..

I think you look great in that colour too!
    have a lovely evening Shelia

  33. I was just telling hubby the same thing about the decorations. I said I have enough! He said, but you get more each year! I don't help!! He loves the BIG things, but there is no place to store them. He saw a life size Santa that he wanted. I said where do I store him. Hubby said, I will put him in the closet, but I will make him face the wall!!!
We are over the top...!!! and what am I planning on doing tomorrow???
    Somebody - tie me down!

  34. I love you with white hair.I hope I look half that good.I'm pooped too dear. Most of us probably are, truth be told...Ann

  35. Nice to see your post today. What's in the future for your blog in 2009? Whatever, I'm looking forward to it. Sally

  36. Hello Shelia, I am happy for you that things are getting back to normal. Love the hair...well, just call that picture Snow White Shelia. Blessings,Nancy

  37. Oh Sheila, you would look pretty in any color ! Tell your mom I am left handed and she can borrow my left hand until she is better ! LOL. I'm praying for ya'll !
Thank you for your prayers Sheila.

  38. Don't get too "normal" Shelia, and don't rush w/ the Christmas decor, it'll get put away eventually. It isn't even Little Christmas until tomorrow! Do you always have 1 Christmas thing that doesn't get put away? I do!

  39. I think it looks great and it is a great photos as you look so incredibly happy and isn't that what it is all about.
    Roberta Anne

  40. You look marvelous either way!!!
Give your Mom a big get well hug from Georgia.

  41. Hi Sheila, your make a great white hair or is it platinum? Which ever it is your pretty face still shines through.

I haven't taken the first Christmas treasure down. We were in Atlanta for two days and that leaves it to do this week. Sigh. Such alot of work. Such is life.

I am glad to hear your mom has some home health and therapy. also that she sat up in a chair. She must feel helpless. I must tell you when my mother-in-law was ill one time she too said the funniest things. Medication was to blame.

I am still praying for your mom and for you to have the strength to care for your mom.

  42. Oh no Shelia! I had no idea what was going on and since I hadn't heard from you I came by to see if you were okay. I'm so sorry about your mom!! Please know that I'm praying for her to recover quickly. Y'all have been through so much and now this!

    Big giant hugs!!

  43. Dear Shelia, You look great as a blonde! I'm so glad to hear your mother is doing better. I continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.Hugs to all of you.

  44. Sheila, I'm so glad to hear your mother is improving and now you have help with her. That has to be a relief as well. Isn't it funny how the Christmas boxes increase each year.. Even with what you've gone through you still have your sense of humor.. You look great as a blonde... hugs ~lynne~

  45. I am so glad your mom is doing well. And that she's getting help with the things she needs.

You are a very sexy blonde!!

  46. Look at you! You're even gorgeous as a platinum blond! I'm so glad your mom is doing better. Hopefully the rest of 2009 will be nothing but sunshine and roses for you and the precious clan!

  47. Back to normal for not yet!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to go out and by more plast bins because some how I now have more decorations than I started with this Christmaas. :)

  48. That picture looks awesome. I want to look that awesome with white/platinum hair. So cool/hot! Anyway, I am so glad you are getting help with your mom. I hope she continues to heal and get back to her PLOF. That is rehab lingo for "prior level of function".

  49. Hmmm... that touched up picture looks like the work of our friend, Bridget. Hell girl, you'd look pretty bald!

So glad to hear your mom is on her way to mending.

Shhh... don't tell anyone, but all my decorations are still out! All except for the tree, which is at the curb.

    Justine :o )
