I've Been Tagged - Five Embarrassing Songs I Like!

I have been tagged by Dawn at and Beverly at and Dot at to play the game "Five Embarrassing Songs I Like". I'm not so sure this tag works for me, because like Dawn, I'm really not embarrassed by these, they're just sillies that I like. And Beverly says if you know her well, not much embarrases her either. Aren't we the most wonderful unembarrassed folks you know? Picket says, as she is a full grown woman nothing should embarrass her, right? I agree, girl! So being the notesongstress that I am, I really had to think hard for some songs that could be embarrassing to someone else if you were caught singing them. Okay, I think I've found the five songs:

1. Guitarzan by Ray Stevens - Really almost any song by Ray Stevens is funny. This one just paints a picture in my head of the silly jungle people each trying to steal the show!

2. Fish Heads from the crazy Dr. Demento. Now if you've read one of my earlier posts about my gurgling fish jugs you'll see my note song was this crazy song! My son as a teenager introduced me to the silly silly songs of Dr. Demento. This was one of those. There was even a little video of the animated fish head doing all the fun things listed in the song.

3. Do the Freddy sung by Freddie and the Dreamers. I guess I'm really dating myself here. But this was a silly little song and it had it's own crazy little dance sung by a crazy guy! Here are some of the embarrassing words: Hunch your shoulder, bulge your eyes, jump around and don't ask why - do the Freddy!

4. Spill The Wine sung by the Animals. Kinda wacky, makes no sense, but I like it! I really don't know what the song is about. Great flute work going on though. Maybe he was smoking some stuff! If you know, tell me!! Inquiring minds want to know these useless things! ;)

5. Hair sung by the Cowsills. Another silly little song, but it was great! I just have to sing a little bit for you:

She asks me why I'm just a hairy guy

I'm hairy noon and night My hair that's a fright

I'm hairy high and low

Don't ask me why 'cause he don't know

Don't know It's not for lack of bread

Like the Grateful Dead - Darling

Gimme head with hair Long beautiful hair

Shining, gleaming, Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair

Shoulder length or longer

Here baby, there mama

Everywhere daddy daddy Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair

Flow it, show it Long as God can grow it My hair

I'm so sorry, being the notesongtess that I am - I couldn't help myself!! ;)

Now here are the tag rules:
1. Post the link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others that you like and tell why.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post.

Now, wasn't that fun? Here are my taggettes:

  1. Who can be embarrassed by a song! (well, maybe there are one or two out there!) Your list is a great one. I've got to say that Ray Stevens just makes me laugh :) Fun list!

    take care,

  2. Thanks Shelia, I'll play along. I'll put my thinking cap on and try to think of some good ones. BTW, I love the Animals too. We have earned the right to not be embarrassed don't you think!

  3. lol, I'll do this Sheila! I will let you know when I post it :)

still not a bathroom mirror sweetie ;)

  4. Oh Shelia, you have me taking my reflection in a gazzing ball.Heee.Kathy

  5. I love the fish heads song! I swear no one had ever heard of it, then one day, a friend at work started singing it and there we sat with our silly voices singing it out loud. Our coworkers thought we were nuts.

Also love the Guitarzan song. I remember the Hair song song by the Cowsills from when my friend Karla would sneak her big sisters vinyl albums, and we spent hours listening to Hair!

  6. I LOVE this!! I will do it! But hey, is any song really embarrassing or it it is WAY *I* sing it that is?? : )

Now I will hafta think hard but I know I up to the challenge!!!

Who does not love Ray Stevens?? i LOVE his stuff!

Oh my gosh but i know every word to each of these songs!

  7. Well, sweetie....I have heard the first one by R. Stevens...but the others? I guess I missed out on these 'cause I've never even heard their NAMES !!
    Fun post!

  8. Your songs put a smile on my face! fun stuff isn't it?

  9. Oh I have always loved "Hair" and had forgotten all about it. Thanks for the memories. My children introduced me to "They Might Be Giants" and their wonderful silly songs such as "Lou Canary in the Alley by the Lightswitch" or maybe it it is Blue Canary, either way it is silly but catchy. Hmmm thinking I might need to go download a couple just for giggles.

I'm so pleased you would come to see me and so please leave me a comment and I'll do my very best to respond back to you. Be a sweetie...Shelia :)
