Playing on the Baker's Rack

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, we are back in the breakfast room and I wanted to show you my baker's rack today.
There is my little hutch I showed you last and now on to the baker's rack. There is a lot of natural light in here and I love that but unfortunately the nice windows took up all the wall space! So I have just poked my pieces in front of the windows. That works, doesn't it? It has been so so hot here recently that I've been closing the blinds to try and keep it cooler. I'm so delicate and don't do well in high heat! :)
I really can't get a straight on shot since my little table and chairs are right in front of the baker's rack so this will have to do. Everything is really still a work in progress. I have fabric to make new little curtains and little runners for the shelves on the baker's rack, just haven't had the time and haven't been motivated yet to do it. In time.

First let me show you this sweet little seasonal sign I've made. The ladies of my church had a crafting day and this is what we made! It's a porch sign but my little bitty porch, really just a stoop, gets wet when it rains and I didn't want my little sign to ruin so I just poked her up here on the wall and I like her just fine here.

Notice there is no O for the word Home and instead you poke on a seasonal wooden piece for each season! Cute, huh? So for summer we have these little flip flops! The seasonal wooden pieces are poked on the blue board with a little square of Velcro. You'll see her again - promise.
Okie Doke! Here we are at the baker's rack with lots of sunshine streaming through. I love this trio of Roosters that I bought when we were in Rome many years ago. They do crow a pretty song but I can't understand them since they crow in Italian! :)
More Roosterness is happening on the next shelf. See that little silly hen pot holder on my little yellow pot? I crocheted that many years ago. I don't know if you can tell, but that is a milk glass juicer sitting there with the little orange slices (faux), love that too!
Moving right along, I've poked down a Jadeite cake stand with a yardbird couple under the dome, another pretty couple and them some Pioneer Woman's kitchen towels folded in the little ceramic bread tray.
At the very bottom I have some cook books in these baskets. When we moved from New York I really tried to get rid of as much stuff as I could and cook books went flying out the door! You don't really need cook books much any more since we have the internet and Pinterest and bloggers sharing their favorite recipes but some of my cook books were very special in one way or the other so they reside here in these baskets.
Hope you've enjoyed seeing my baker's rack. This is really a toy to poke things all over and I do enjoy it so much. I was not able to use her in New York but she works in Texas. After all she was bought in Texas and she is a Texan! Woo Hoo!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

"I'll Be There"

You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back
Where there is love, I'll be there

I'll reach out my hand to you, I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name and I'll be there

And oh - I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength, I'll keep holding on - yes I will, yes I will

Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness, well that's all I'm after
Whenever you need me, I'll be there
I'll be there to protect you, with an unselfish love I respect you
Just call my name and I'll be there

And oh - I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength, I'll keep holding on - yes I will, yes I will

If you should ever find someone new, I know he'd better be good to you
'Cos if he doesn't, I'll be there

Don 't you know, baby, yeah yeah
I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there

(Just look over your shoulders, honey - ooh)

I'll be there, I'll be there, whenever you need me, I'll be there

Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah

I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there

  1. Love the flip flops, Sheila!

  2. Shelia, Now I am anxious to see the things you will use in place of the flip-flops.:):) I really love your chickens. I think the rack works well there in the big window. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. I love your bakers rack, it's perfect. I love racks, so when I made my French country plate rack I even celebrate it, lol... I love to dress it seasonally too.
I always loved your collection of rooses and chicks dear Shelia. I want to find out about your flip-flaps replacement too, lol...
    Have a great day.

  4. Adorable...but am I surprised?? Of course not! You have such a knack for arranging the best vignettes. Love it all!

  5. Your backer's rack looks adorable. I love it. I have always loved your three cute rooster pitchers. They look perfect on the top shelf. I am so happy to have you back to blogging. I have told you before how much I enjoy seeing your beautiful style of decorating. You are so talented, you know :) Love this cute bakers rack, decorated Shelia's style. Hugs,

  6. I love your little bakers rack. I'm glad to see it again. :-)

  7. Italian Roosters!!! I love them. I had a chicken fest in July, they've been a lot of fun. I love a Baker's Rack, it's so easy to decorate them for the seasons and keep them changed up without a lot of work. I know you must be so glad to be able to use it again! xo

  8. Shelia,
I LOVE all the light within your kitchen!
Adorable and colorful collections for your bakers rack!
    Amazing display!

  9. I like the way you decorated the rack and the home sign is awesome.

  10. Love that new Home sign. What a great idea to replace the O. Very well decorated baker's rack. I'm like you got rid of some of my cookbooks but some I just needed to keep.
Not sure I could handle the Texas you actually get use to it?
Have a great weekend and take care

  11. The sign is adorable, Sheila! I can't wait to see what else shows up in that "o" spot as the seasons change...and the rack is lovely. You can't have too many roosters and you have the perfect place to display them all! Enjoy the weekend!

  12. Your baker's rack is right where it belongs! Wherever you want it. The view out the window is your choice and you did good! That sign is darling. What fun!

P.S. - Don't faint, my friend. I posted on my blog a couple of days ago. And another today! I'm on a roll!!

I'm so pleased you would come to see me and so please leave me a comment and I'll do my very best to respond back to you. Be a sweetie...Shelia :)
