Granny's Moved In!

Happy New Year, Dear Ones! My wish is you are all starting off this new year with a bang. I'll apologize right up front for not getting back to you who have commented - I've been lazy and I'm sticking to it, but I will get to you. We are still covered up with snow and have had below zero temps for two weeks but it has warmed up a little bit today.  Okie dokie.
I showed you this doll house last fall that I brought from Craigslist for $40. We had to drive to Massachusetts to get it but just made an adventure of the day! It looks good on the outside but look at the inside...
This is the snap from Craigslist - it was filled with furniture! Yay me! Did I tell you I only paid $40 for it? As you can see, it's old and the insides are dark and dingy but it was filled with furniture! It will get a makeover in time.
Furniture! Just look. Three beds, living room furniture, kitchen furniture, old timey bathroom stuff. There are also some mirrors, pictures in frames and little doo dads! Well, granny has arrived now. She didn't want to wait until her house is renovated, construction has to stop in the winter. You know, snow and all. So Lola has been very gracious to move her things out and let granny set up house in the dollhouse shelves. It's going slowly but I wanted to show you what granny has done to date.
She likes to live pretty cozy so she wanted her formal dining (these pieces are also Lola's) to be with the living room. Lola left her fireplace so granny could enjoy the fire and a few pictures (these aren't granny's style). Granny hung one of her paintings over the sofa.
Here is the sitting room. The two red velvety chairs also have a little loveseat but it just didn't look right in here so granny used her fancy sofa. There is also a pretty light blue tufted chair there in the corner by the fireplace.
Granny was complaining about the little country looking lamps that Lola loaned her but heck, she didn't have any of her own. She needs to take a trip to the furniture store.
Here is the little formal dining area...Lola's rug, table and chairs, buffet and accessories. That Lola is a very giving little gal.
Now to the kitchen - granny's favorite place! Again, Lola let granny use the rug under the table and the canisters.
Here is the working part of the kitchen. Granny doesn't like upper cabinets and didn't want the sink under the window. She just wanted the painting hung up over the sink.
Look at this little stove! Is it not just the cutest little thing you've ever seen? It is a retired Hallmark Christmas ornament that is all decked out for Christmas and granny will leave it just like this all year long. You know how granny's love to bake cookies! I looked online and there was also a little refrigerator too but alas - they don't make these any more. How happy I was that this little stove was in the kitchen!
Here is granny's sink. You can tell she has had this a very long time. It has been used a bunch. Granny fell in love with Lola's little green pitcher and guess what? Lola gave it to her. Gotta love that little gal.
Granny is olden and stuck in her ways. She wants nothing to do with one of those high falutin' refrigerators! just let her keep her old ice box. Okie dokie. But it's heck trying to find a block of ice to keep her perishables cool. See those jugs? Yep, she loves to keep her cream in there and she swears it doesn't go bad.

Granny brought her baker's rack since she doesn't like upper cabinets. She didn't know that I have a baker's rack just like this! Anyway, she borrowed Lola's canisters since she doesn't have any. I crocheted those baskets for her and she keeps her potatoes and onions in them.
This is the only dining table granny had so since the kitchen is so large she thought it would be nice to keep it in here for her meals. She always has some fresh bread since me bakes her own and fresh creamy butter that she also makes.
Granny loves her succulents and wanted them to be under the kitchen window.
So granny has moved in the dollhouse shelves for now. I still haven't seen granny yet but I do love her furniture.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I Know An Old Lady

I know an old lady who swallowed a fly
I dunno know why she swallowed the fly
Perhaps she'll die

I know an old lady who swallowed a spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I dunno know why she swallowed the fly
Perhaps she'll die

I know an old lady who swallowed a bird
How absurd to swallow a bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I dunno know why she swallowed the fly
Perhaps she'll die

I know an old lady who swallowed a cat
Imagine that. She swallowed a cat.
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I dunno know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die

I know an old lady who swallowed a dog
What a hog! To swallow a dog!
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I dunno know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die

I know an old lady who swallowed a goat
Opened her throat and down went the goat!
She swallowed the goat to catch the dog
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I dunno know why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die

I know an old lady who swallowed a horse
She's dead of course
