Another One!

Hello, Dear Ones! First of all my heart goes out to all who have been affected by hurricane Irma and hurricane Harvey. It just breaks my heart seeing all of this tragedy happening.

Well, I have to tell you...I found another dollhouse! Mr. Precious and I were off on a drive and came upon a yard sale. We hopped out of the car and started looking. And there my most gorgeous peepers spied this DOLLHOUSE! Lord, have mercy! I looked down at the price tag and it said $125. I thought, oh well. I peeped again and it didn't say $125 but $25!!! Woo Hoo!! It's old and beat up a bit, filled with yucky wallpaper and maybe a few dead bugs but hey - I can clean! Mr. Precious goes up to the man at the sale with his cutest smile and says, "Since I'm such a nice fellow, would you sell this dollhouse to me for $20?" Sure will, says the man and he even carries the dollhouse to our car! Thank you, Jesus! Another dollhouse!

Here she is! She isn't as detailed as the one I bought earlier but she is still so very cute.
Look at the little windows and I believe they actually have thin panes of glass! There are little holes in the window boxes so you can poke flowers in there! Clever!
 Upstairs windows.
There are even a couple of windows on each side of the house! There's a cute chimney too but no fireplace inside but that's okay I'll add one. I think I'll paint her yellow!

And a red door just for me! There's a cute little knocker and doorknob. I know nothing about it. I asked the man if there was a story that went with the house and he said just that he picked it up off the side of the road. What? That is certainly a dollhouse sin, don't you think?
Here is the insides. Now I was so excited that I yanked all of the wallpaper off the walls before I started taking snaps. There are some little lights hanging down but they aren't hooked up to anything - just for looks.
There is an attic. At one time there was a roof top that closed over this as the little hinges are still up on top. Anyway, I can make a couple of rooms up here!
 Here is the second floor.
Then the first floor. See where the front door is open? Well that wall is in the way of making a nice big wonderful room. Do you think I could remove it or at least try to saw it out and leave 'pillars' on each side? That little middle area is just too small for a living room. Anyway...
No, no, Nannette, that is not snow on the stairs - that's leftover white felt that had been glued on the stairs as the carpet runner. I'll try to get this off so I can paint them. Maybe use a hairdryer? I've heard that can soften up glue.
Well, poop! I bragged too soon about the ease of yanking off the wallpaper. This wallpaper is stuck. I'm telling you - stuck! I wet it a little and thought I could get it off that way but it didn't work. You can see where I just messed it up. Any suggestions? See that little opening? Well, the bathroom is behind that wall. There was a square tub, like something from the 1970s in there, plastic and all. Well I got out my hand saw and took away both sides to open it up. Now if I can get Mr. Precious to help me saw the main wall off so I can have a big bedroom.

Am I crazy or what? Until I started making little miniatures I never saw dollhouses or anything. Certainly wasn't looking for any - until now. I guess I'm on a roll again! Oh, this house is a 1/12 inch scale and all of my dollhouse things I've bought an made will work in there! Yay!

Oh, I almost forgot! I've created another Instagram account just for my crafts and miniatures. If you're interested I would love for you to follow me there. If you want to check me out just click HERE.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Lean On Me

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain, we all have sorrow.
But if we are wise,
We know that there's always tomorrow.

Lean on me when you're not strong
I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on.

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won't let show.

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.

Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need somebody to lean on

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.

If there is a load
You have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me.

Call me if you need a friend
Call me, call me, uh-huh
Call me when you need a friend
Call me if you ever need a friend
Call me, call me
Call me, call me
Call me, call me
Call me, call me
Call me if you need a friend
Call me, call me
Call me, call me
Call me, call me
Call me, call me
Call me

  2. What a cute dollhouse This has worked for removing wallpaper in my 1895 house: mix equal parts vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle or bucket, and apply the mixture to the wallpaper liberally. Allow it to soak in for fifteen minutes. Then, use a scraper to remove the wallpaper.

  9. That's a cute house Sheila and for a really good price!! Even better that it is inch scale. I think the suggestion of vinegar and water might work on the wallpaper or one of the commercial wallpaper strippers might help as well as they dissolve the glue. Kinda of depends on what was used to put it on. I have used scrapbook paper for wallpaper and put it on with double face tape before, even used the cardstock for a solid painted look. Looks like for sure you have succumbed to the miniature bug.....it can really get a hold of you. I have been doing miniatures since the 70's. Enjoy my friend.

I'm so excited for you---some people dont' "get it"---the dollhouses and the dolls etc...but I do! A temporary escape from today's headlines, bad news, and tragedies is why I enjoy it.
