I Can't Leave!!

Dear Ones, I just can't leave you and blogland! I have decided I'll just post when I post and hopefully you'll still come visit me. I just care for you all so much and you all have become such a big part of my life. So...for now I'll share with you what has been going on around here.
Well...
Mr. Precious and I took Sybbie and we were in our little town's yearly parade. That's me taking a snap of my family standing on the side of the street taking a picture of us!

Of course we are loving spending time with our super hero grand children!
I just wanted to show you Carter's hair and how it's grown. Hard to believe she was bald till she was two!
My little pun'kins.

Oh, we finally got carpet for our stairs. That was going to be the first thing we were going to do when we bought this house, but somehow it took three years! :) I have to tell you, when we went to pick out the carpet I was just drawn to this pattern and said, "This is it!" So we came home and I remembered that this was the same carpet we had picked out for our stairs in our Galveston home! Ha ha! Oh, well, I love it and it's a lot easier on my tootsies than the wooden steps.

Then we traveled to Maryland to attend the Confederate Memorial Day in Baltimore. My sister in law is in many ancestry groups and she emceed this nice event and Mr. Precious spoke and represented one of his groups.

Sybbie attended a car show in Saratoga. I always think of that song by Carly Simon "You're So Vain" when we go to Saratoga.
Sybbie got a new trunk that sits behind the rumble seat.
She is a beauty. In case you have just met Sybbiie, she is a 1930 Model A Ford. We're members of the Adirondack A Model Club so we gather and do fun things with other folks who own these old cars.

This past week was the end of school programs and we attended Campies and Carters. Campie was so funny. As his little group stood up front to sing their songs, he would look over at his teacher and say - I know all the songs! Then he'd ask - can we go home now? He's a hoot!
Carter's program was almost like a production. The theme was "Friends". They sang and recited what they had written about what it means to be a friend. Carter has a singing part. I tried taking some snaps but there were too many mommy and daddy heads, not to mention cameras, in the way! But she sang so sweetly.

Then I can't leave you without showing you our little baby Willow. She is doing so well and growing like a weed. We're working on potty training and she's doing good!
She loves me so much that I have become her chew toy! I ank anked her! Even bought some of the bitter apple spray for my hands and arms so she won't bite. She's getting better but I look pretty ragged right now.
But just look at that little face! Is she not darling or what? She has really brought back a doggy joy to our hearts.
I'm still stitching too but I haven't framed any of my pieces. I just keep stitching, one after the other! I know, I'm a bit crazy. The weather has been so crazy. It's been in the 50s and we would turn on our fireplace in the mornings and at night and it's rained for almost a month! Finally today it got up to about 75' and hopefully our summer is here now. I know this was a long post and if you've stayed with me - thank you.
Hope you're all doing well and your summer is off to a good start!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

You're So Vain

You walked into the party
Like you were walking on a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf, it was apricot
You had one eye on the mirror
And watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain,
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you?
Don't you?

Oh, you had me several years ago
When I was still naive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, you're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you?
Don't you?

Well I hear you went to Saratoga
And your horse, naturally, won
Then you flew your Learjet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well, you're where you should be all the time
And when you're not, you're with some underworld spy
Or the wife of a close friend,
Wife of a close friend, and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, you're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you?
Don't you?

~ sung by Carly Simon

  1. I am so happy to hear you aren't leaving us! I love hearing about your life and your beautiful Grands! Gosh they are growing fast aren't they. Sybbie is a beauty and what fun you have with her. Willow is adorable and the biting will get better. Annie Belle bit a lot when I first got her but is so much better now! Happy Summer my friend!

  2. Sheila,
So happy that you decided to pos every now and again. Blogging is not what it was when we started to blog and many of the bloggers that I knew when I first started have quit or decided to do what you are doing. I too have come to that crossroads. Joe is now retired and I am part time. Even though we have no grandchildren to occupy our time, life is different than what it was when Joe was working. After having my blog hack ed last year and having to start a new blog which I did lament about because I thought that maybe that was my sign to quit, I still do not know what I want to do as far as blogging is concerned. I do like the idea of posting when I feel like it and not because I think I have to.
You have a beautiful family and I wish you and yours good health and happiness and look forward to the next time you check in..
    Hugs,
    Debbie

  8. So good to hear from you!!! Very few bloggers post on a regular basis except for the ones that have all the ads because they do it for the money,,,,

Good to see your family, the kids have grown like weeds!! And new puppy is darling too.

Our weather has not been the best here in Upstate.....but today the heat is on and summer has started, it will be in the 80's today. I'm not a fan of the heat but will bear with it!!

    Happy summer!!! xoxoxo

  10. What a gorgeous car!! We love going up to Saratoga, there's a fantastic market there called the Putnam Market that has a refrigerated room just full of the most amazing cheeses - heaven for this foodie!

  11. How fun! I love how after you moved to NY you got involved with your car and community events. The kids are so cute and I know you are enjoying see them grow and share special memories with them. We have been enjoying great weather and a lot of the rain missed us. We're at 89 deg. today so I am pretty much staying indoors until later when it cools down! Willow is so darn cute- I know she's going to be the best companion in good time! Have a great rest of the weekend!

  13. Good to hear of your goings on!! I'm still taking a hiatus from blogging, but I'm sure something will hit me soon to blog about; and I'll pop back on the web. Hope you are enjoying your summer ---- the weather has been beautiful here in Colorado with just enough rain to keep the garden in good shape! Take care, Sally

  14. I'm so glad you've decided to stick around here and hang out with us! I missed you but I understood. I just blog when I can. It's not a lot and I always think of things to share but life goes another direction and I don't sit down long enough to share what I thought about!! Loved seeing your doings, especially those grands. They are growing up so fast - and so adorable! Our oldest grandson just graduated from high school and his brother graduated from middle school last evening. I sat there wondering how it all happened so fast! Time flies when you're having fun!!

  17. Hi Shelia,
I'm so glad that you are enjoying life with your family and those Darlin Grandchildren. What fun riding around in Sybbie. As far as blogging goes I'm glad that you will continue to blog when you want. I have decided to do the same. Blogging has changed so much since you and I, and so many of our other friends started their blogs. Now days it seems like Blogland is saturated with big fancy blogs, full of ads and over the top decorating. There seems to be no sense of the blogging friendship like those that we developed in the early days, but I'm like you, I'm not quite ready to give it up just yet. Just know that I enjoy your blog and I'll continue to look for your posts.

    hugs,
    Sissie

  19. Hi Darlin'! You're So Vain was a hit when I was in High School and I can still hear Ms. Simon singing this great hit. The auto is sweet! I'd love to hear what you have to say about so many wanting to pretend that the confederates never existed. Such a part of our history and the making of this great country. The South has her place by all means. God bless and all the best,
    d from the prairie

  20. I was just thinking the other day, "I sure miss Shelia's posts" and here you are. I am so happy that your back blogging again. I don't blog every week or everyday as I just have that much to blog about.

The grands are so darling and they are growing like weeds, it doesn't take long.

Now that little Willow, what a little cutie and she is going to bring so much joy into your lives.

Love your car - it looks so good.

    Take care and welcome back.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  22. Yipee! So happy to hear you will continue your blog. Posting when you feel like it I'm sure is fine with all your followers.
Can't believe how much your grands have grown!
Your pup is just too cute! Can't say I miss the puppy stage for obvious reasons (like your chewed up arm lol) but its part of getting a dog. I'm sure she makes you smile all the time.
And finally I just love your stair runner. I can see why you would pick it twice!
    Have a great day

  25. I think a lot of bloggers, like myself, have made the decision to just blog at our own pace and maybe fade away eventually. It's hard to go cold-turkey and it's sad to go at all, but everything has its season. I'm glad you're staying, at least for now.

Hubby and I watch the car auctions on TV. I keep trying to talk him into one of the Bel Air cars. I just love them. I also love older model, small trucks that aren't boxy looking.

  33. I forgot to tell you how cute your grands are. So happy they both look so happy and healthy now. Our Piper was a baldy, too. I posted a picture of me when I was little and everyone said that looks like Piper. So now we know where she gets her wild blonde hair from :)
