More Stuff

Hello, Dear Ones. I know it's been over a week since I've posted anything but we've been sick over here so just to fore warn you, this is a long post! Mr. Precious served for three weeks as a juror and there were sick ones who gave their bug to him and since he loves me so much - he gave it to me! So...I've been trying to get well and rest. I don't do well trying to rest. I couldn't rest in bed so I sat in my chair in the den. Well, I can't just sit and do nothing so I made things for the doll house.
Come on and I'll show you...
Little jugs or should I say little pitchers. I found the pattern on Pinterest, of course, and just couldn't stop making them!
As you can see, Lola is so very pleased with all of the little pitchers and is deciding what to do with all of them. She got a new hairdo and is feeling pretty self confident and I see she's already put a couple on top of the little hutch and on the baby's high chair.
I found out a little genealogy on Lola. I was thinking I needed to make her some shoes and just happened to look at her little bottom and there was a name embossed on it 'Chelsea'. So on line I went and found out Lola (Chelsea) is actually Barbie's little sister. Lola was so excited to know she has such a famous sister and said she will have Barbie come visit after she gets her house ready.
There's more jugs, em, pitchers. I made some from scrapbook paper and others from printed cardstock. The paper is just too flimsy and probably won't hold up but I persisted any way. The cardstock jugs seem pretty fine. I painted the inside of the spout and then painted a gloss finish on each one. Aren't they the cutest little things?
The kitchen window got installed (just glued on the wall) and I made a little valance for it.
Then...I made some new canisters to match the kitchen. I used the little wooden spools again, painted the bottom lip and top lip, covered them with the same paper as the kitchen walls and added little labels and a pretty little bead on top! Cuteness again!
I couldn't stop there so I made a bread box too! I made it out of mat board. The lid doesn't lift up but we're not tellin' any one! ;)
Here they all sit on the corner cabinet. I see Lola added another jug!
The kitchen got some lights! I snapped these pictures at night so they are not as nice as they should be but I wanted to show you my ceiling lights. These are little touch lights from the dollar store. I just added batteries and stuck em up on the ceiling. Voila! I have to admit I just love the size of this kitchen! I have to watch out for Lola as she wants to display everything she has all at once.
Then...I know...I grabbed my crochet thread and hook and made a rug. I really didn't make it for the kitchen since there is no red in it, but pink. Lola said she didn't care because it was nice to have a warm rug to poke her little tooties on when she sits at the table.
Next I crocheted a rug for the living room! I bought a new coffee and end table before I was on my death bed...well, my sick chair.
Got all smarty pants and painted a little vase for flowers. It's one of those wooden pulls for fans. I know, I got carried away painting with my toothpick! :)
Then I made another rug! I was on a roll y'all! I was sick but I was on a roll.
Just a simple blue granny square in the round rug edged in cream. I plan on making some curtains with some blue in the fabric - one of these days - maybe when I get sick again! :)
Pictures were hung in the dining room. They're just printed out on cardstock and glued onto foam board and the frames are bent a little. I did dry brush a little gold paint onto the frames.
I love the little flowers flanking the china cabinet. I hang the pictures up with that tacky glue stuff so I can take them down if I want to change them. I'm so talented like that you know! :)
Lord, have mercy, y'all I'm a little bit crazy! I thought I would crochet a little doily using an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini, um, no crochet hook and sewing thread. Yes, that's what I said - sewing thread. I've seen some on Pinterest and they were just so cute. I'm just stubborn enough to say, 'Hey, I can do that!' Well, I did it, but not very well I'll add and I probably won't make another doily out of thread. Heck, y'all, it was hard! You can see where I messed up but I went ahead and starched the heck out of it with hair spray
I threw that spool of thread away and grabbed some crochet thread and made a little runner for the sideboard. Now that was more up my alley!
I made one more little doily and poked it on the piano. Well, you'd think I'd be worn out wouldn't you? I guess sickness becomes me! :)  We're getting well now but kinda weak but as long as I can move my hands I'm good. Thanks for popping in to see me.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Time Is On My Side

Time is on my side, yes it is.

Time is on my side, yes it is.
Now you all were saying that you want to be free
But you'll come runnin' back (I said you would baby),
You'll come runnin' back (like I told you so many times before),
You'll come runnin' back to me.
Time is on my side, yes it is.
Time is on my side, yes it is.
You're searching for good times but just wait and see,
You'll come runnin' back (I said you would darling),
You'll come runnin back (Spent the rest of life with ya baby),
You'll come runnin' back to me.
Go ahead baby, go ahead, go ahead and light up the town!
And baby, do anything your heart desires
Remember, I'll always be around.
And I know, I know like I told you so many times before
You're gonna come back,
Yeah you're going to come back baby
Knockin', knockin' right on my door.
Time is on my side, yes it is.
Time is on my side, yes it is.
'Cause I got the real love, the kind that you need.
You'll come runnin' back (I knew you would one day),
You'll come runnin' back (Baby I told you before),
You'll come runnin' back to me.

More progress

Hello, Dear Ones! I hope you are enjoying seeing my little house. Well, it's actually not a real house but shelves. On the top of each set of shelves I've added two foam board rooms. I'm taking full advantage of having lots of rooms. I needed a front entrance so I made one. Now you can't actually enter the door but Lola and Tang can have lots of fun on the porch. So let me show you what I've done.
Here is it! Do you like it? Now, like I said this is made of foam board with the front porch on the right side and I'll show you later the laundry room on the left as they are connected with a wall in between. Now if you are a true miniaturist, you might want to leave now as I am not and I'm just learning but having so much fun. In other words, it ain't perfect, y'all!
Here is my tiled porch and steps. The steps are made from foam board and covered with gray paper to look like cement. Did I fool you? Probably not! :) The same thing on the floor of the porch. Then I made a little railing for the porch. Oh, I didn't want to have a roof overhang because it would make the space too dark so I made an arbor like overhang. We can grown vines across it this summer and hang up some plants. Now the front door is a real dollhouse door but I can't open it because it opens to the inside and it's glued to the foam board. Oh, well, it's just for looks. I wanted a yellow front door and I like the way it turned out. The window is a dollhouse window too that I sawed off the sunshine top and painted it. Lola thought the white trim of the window looked too white so she grabbed some pink paint and painted on a little cuteness.
Then I made a little mail box! It's so cute. I made it from mat board and glued on the 'Post' to make it look more official.
Then the laundry room! I took the pictures with my phone so...I guess that's why the white chair looks rather ghost like!
I made the shelves with mat board and painted them this pretty blue. I need to get some more laundry room items to poke on the little shelves. Those boxes are printies and you just cut them out, fold and glue together. Oh, Lola shops at Costco so her boxes of laundry detergent are huge!
Here's the sewing area. I need to make a wall shelf to hang over the sewing table, paint the table, you know - on and on. I found a pretty wallpaper for the walls and a cute little black and white tiled floor. All are paper printed from the computer. The window is also from the internet and printed out. I made the cute little balloon shade curtain topper.
I need to add a table to fold the laundry on under the window and a few other things - art and things. Oh, I did crochet some little baskets to add to the very top of the shelves but I'll have to show them to you later. And where there is laundry, there's has to be a place to iron a bit. So the ironing board and iron. Now I'm thinking this ironing board is just too plain for Lola's liking so I think a little spiffing is in it's future.
There you have my front porch and laundry room for my doll house, um shelves. I don't have any more room for rooms unless I go up. I think I'm done with rooms but still have lots of decorating to do.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

She Works Hard For The Money

She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
Onetta there in the corner stands
And she wonders where she is.
And the rain still hurts,
Some people seem to have everything.
Nine a.m. on the hour hand
And she's waiting for the bell.
And she's looking real pretty.
She's waiting for her clientele.
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
Twenty-eight years have come and gone.
And she's seen a lot of tears
Of the ones who come in.
They really seem to need her there.
It's a sacrifice working day to day.
For little money just tips for pay.
But it's worth it all just to hear them say that they care.
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
Already knows she's seen her bad times.
Already knows these are the good times.
She'll never sell out, she never will, not for a dollar bill.
She works hard
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
Works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.
She works hard for the money.
So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money.
So you better treat her right.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello, Dear Ones and Happy Valentine's Day! Well, Tang has made so many friends in her new neighborhood that she wanted to host a special Valentin's Day party for them! Lola wasn't really sure at first because she isn't finished decorating the dining room. She hasn't even hung curtains or pictures yet! Oh, well.
The dining room is absolutely packed with little animals!
Before the guests arrived, Tang went to town decorating. She hung up a heart banner she made. Oops, I see she knocked a couple of plates down in the china cabinet. We'll have to fix that.
She wanted to display all of her Valentines she'd received in the mail. She is so popular, you know!
Since I had made all of the clay food she asked if she could share it with her friends and of course I said she could. So Lola and she brought out all of the food and placed it around the dining room for her guests.
Look at all of the dogs! There are mostly dogs in the neighborhood but Tang gets along with them fabulously. As each dog guest entered the house, they were given a Valentine and ushered into the dining room.

They were also given a cinnamon roll but I don't think these dogs like cinnamon rolls because you can see they have all ended up on the floor with their Valentines!
There is one little kitten who lives in the neighborhood but she was a little scared of all of the dogs and mostly stayed on top of the buffet. I think she ate a few of the cookies too.
Oh, this little doggy got all tuckered out and found a quiet corner to nap a little nap.
Tang thought of everything and even invited Barky Manilow to entertain her guests. Right now he's singing "I Can't Smile Without You' and accompanying himself.
I do believe the dogs are smelling the turkey because I can see they are all eyeing it and licking their chops! This snap is fuzzy because a couple of dogs kept bumping into my leg!
There will be sweets after they all get some turkey. Too bad they don't like cinnamon rolls.

Oh, hear comes Lola with some fresh baked bread and more dogs. Barky Manilow promises to sing 'Copacabana' especially for her!
Sit back, relax and grab a biscuit or a cookie and listen to Barky Manilow as he entertains us.
Thanks for coming to Tang's party and we all want to wish you a happy Valentine's Day!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Copacabana

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....they fell in love

(Copa Copacabana)

His name was Rico, he wore a diamond
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancin' there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Rico went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who?

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....she lost her love

(Copa. . Copacabana)
(Copa Copacabana) (Copacabana, ahh ahh ahh ahh)
(Ahh ahh ahh ahh Copa Copacabana)
(Talking Havana have a banana)
(Music and passion...always the fash--shun)

Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she's lost her mind!

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....don't fall in love

I've Discovered Clay!!

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, guess what? I've discovered clay - air dry clay and polymer clay. I've been looking at all of the cutest little polymer clay things for mini houses on Pinterest. That place can really get you into trouble. Well, I went and bought some air dry clay from Hobby Lobby and just looked at the clay for a couple of months thinking maybe today I'll try to make something. Well, I'm not getting any younger so I thought I'd just jump in and go to town. I have to tell you - I've gone crazy! Really, crazy! Like, cray cray!
Look at all of the little tiny things I've made! I've had so much fun. Now my little things are certainly not perfect but it's okay because I'm just learning. There are all kinds of tutorials on Pinterest and I really appreciate all of the gifted folks so willing to share how to make things.
Well, sometimes I think I'm a smarty pants so I tried my most dainty fingers at making some plates. They didn't turn out too well. They are wonky and wavy but I sanded the edges a little bit and painted them so they'll do. I used the polymer clay for these. You make your design and then it's baked in a 275' oven for about 20 minutes.
Well, I decided next to try the air dry clay and wanted to try my hand at making a swan to use as a decoration in my mini house. I just made this up in my head, well, I had a picture to look at. The air dry clay is kinda sticky but I carried on with my swan, let it dry for a day and then painted her up! I was pleased at how she turned out! I was on a roll.
I collect Staffordshire dogs so I thought I would try to make a pair for my dollhouse. I did order a little pair for Christmas and I thought, pftt, I can make some dogs. I used the air dry clay for these too and just made them up as I went along looking at my dogs. They aren't completely twins but that's okay. I like how they turned out too. The air dry clay looks like wet cardboard even though it's color is supposed to be white. I thought when they dried they would be white but no no, Nannette, they were still the gray color so everything has to be painted, of course. Now these are really very tiny! Maybe an inch high. Do you think they're cute? One little dog is chilled out and the other is sitting tall and very alert!

Then I grabbed a sample pack of polymer clay that had all kinds of colors! This is the way to go as you just grab the color you want. So...I decided to make fruit!
Look at my bananas! Aren't they darling? Now don't you look at my wrinkly fingers. They're kinda old and are always busy so lots of washing goes on. Anyway, I used a tutorial I found on Pinterest to make my bananas. I learned to use chalk for the shading and how clever that is! I already had chalk I used to use when I was scrap booking and it seemed to work just fine!
On with the fruit. As you can see I made grapes, apples, lemons, limes and peaches! They are just so tiny! The peaches and apples were a tutorial and the others I just made because they are basically little balls of clay with a little pulling and poking. You can see I tried to make some bowls. Now they didn't turn out very well either, but heck, I slapped some paint on them and they'll do for now.
Then, then, then...I saw a tutorial for making a Christmas turkey and knew I had to try it! Oh, my Lord! This was so easy and I think it turned out so cute and it's sitting on some lettuce too! The shading really makes a big difference. I made a pan of biscuits and little little stick of butter(sitting on one of my little wobbly plates). I guess I should have made some veggies to complete our meal. Oh, well, tomorrow is another day!
 See how little this is?

So since we had an entree we needed some sweets so I went to town making some.
I made some special cookies with a tutorial, aren't they cute? See the little heart cookies with jam in the center( it's just red paint) and they are sprinkled with pretend powdered sugar (white chalk). I lined my baking dish with some cute little scrap book paper. Do you know what my baking pan is? Guess! Give up? Eye shadow holders! I saw that somewhere on Pinterest. I had kept some eye shadows that I really didn't use any more and I just took the eye shadow out of the little tins, popped out the tins and cleaned them up and now I have lots of little baking tins to use. I'm glad so many folks are so smart!
Then I made cinnamon rolls, a chocolate cake with a cherry on top, little donuts and chocolate cupcakes with pink frosting.
Then I saw a very pretty little decorated cake on Pinterest and I think you could buy it for $25 so I tried to copy it. Is that legal? Well, mine is certainly not as pretty as my inspiration but it's kinda cute too! It's two layers - the bottom layer is pink and the top layer is a lighter pink. Then I make little leaves and roses and some round bon bons to encircle the bottom.
Oh, with all of that baking I  had to have some rolling pins so I took a little wooden stick and sawed it into three pieces and then I made some little handles from polymer clay, baked them and glued them on. They aren't really very good looking as I think little beads would have looked better, but heck, it's all good! :)
So I gathered all of my handy work for you to see! I guess you've figured it out what a blast I'm having living in mini-ville. Shoot! Do I really need to wash clothes and cook dinner?
Thank you all for letting me share my new little hobby with you. I wonder if I'll keep this up or I'll be doing something else next month? Only time will tell, but for now...all I can say is fun, fun, fun!
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Fun, Fun, Fun

Well she got her daddy's car
And she's cruisin' through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now

And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-Bird away)

Well the girls can't stand her
'Cause she walks looks and drives like an ace now
(You walk like an ace now you walk like an ace)
She makes the Indy 500 look like a Roman chariot race now
(You look like an ace now you look like an ace)
A lotta guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
(You drive like an ace now you drive like an ace)

And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-Bird away)

Well you knew all along
That your dad was gettin' wise to you now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
And since he took your set of keys
You've been thinking that your fun is all through now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)

But you can come along with me
'Cause we gotta a lot of things to do now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)

And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
(fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
(fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
(fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
(fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
(fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
(fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
