Dollar Tree Doll Furniture

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, Mr. Precious and I are still out traveling and we're heading back to New York. Hope you've been following along with me on Facebook. I've been trying to post a couple of times a day showing where we are on our journey. I wanted to share a little post with you about some dollhouse furniture I found at the Dollar Tree. Each piece was only one dollar! Woo hoo for me!
The above snap is not mine but from the Dollar Tree website. I got all of these pieces except the little chair. There was only one little chair and it was broken. Now these aren't perfect and probably need a little sanding in places but hey, for $1 it's all good!

I got out my paint and paint brushes and went to town. I painted everything white except for the little buffet. But they just looked too plain so I had to think of something else to do.
I spiffed up my little blue buffet with some tiny little licks of paint. You can see the wood is a little rough but it's okay with me. It just makes the piece look like it's been in the family for a long time and is covered with memories! :)
Then these two pieces! Oh, the potential.
I'm not a decorative painter but I can poodle around with it. I used the tip of toothpick to paint these little flowers and froo froos. These pieces are pretty close to scale.
Then this little bed. Now this is really off scale so I think I'll use it as a child's bed after I tweak it a bit.
So if you like little mini furniture and aren't too concerned about the pieces being perfect, run, don't walk, grab your dollars and go to Dollar Tree! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I'm Into Something Good

Woke up this mornin' feelin' fine
There's somethin' special on my mind
Last night I met a new girl in the neighbourhood, whoa yeah
Somethin' tells me I'm into something good
(Somethin' tells me I'm into somethin')
She's the kind of girl who's not too shy
And I can tell I'm her kind of guy
She danced close to me like I hoped she would
(she danced with me like I hoped she would)
Somethin' tells me I'm into something good
(Somethin' tells me I'm into somethin')
We only danced for a minute or two
But then she stuck close to me the whole night through
Can I be fallin' in love
She's everthing I've been dreamin' of
She's everthing I've been dreamin' of
I walked her home and she held my hand
I knew it couldn't be just a one-night stand
So I asked to see her next week and she told me I could
(I asked to see her and she told me I could)
Somethin' tells me I'm into something good
(Somethin' tells me I'm into somethin')
(Somethin' tells me I'm into somethin', ahhh)

  2. Your toothpick painting is so cute!!!! I've been enjoying your cross country trip on Facebook. So you were in New Mexico and the next thing I knew you were in Kansas, so you could not have been too far from me in southern Colorado. Next time, plan to park your trailer in my driveway!!!! Have a safe trip the rest of the way home. Sally

  18. Shelia, I love what you did with the furniture. I make doll houses too and I got a few pieces from our dollar store, but they are a little different. I always turn them into something else like I did with a small foyer piece. I turned it into a bathroom vanity, cut a round piece out of the top and added a homemade sink. It already had an attached mirror, so that was already done for me. Michaels has some neat furniture too, all wood hutches that are all different and unfinished. These are fun to turn into completely different pieces too. I made kitchen cabinets from a few that turned out wonderful. Doll houses and making furnishings and decorations is a passion of mine, just wish these darn disabilities did not get in the way.
