The hutch looks yellow against my yellow walls but it's actually a very soft light green. It's such a sweet soft color and acts like a neutral so anything I put in it looks good.
I wanted to use these little olden Rooster plates. I only have four and there are no markings of any kind on the back but oh they are so cute! I also have a few little small saucers and a couple of tiny bowls. As you can see these little Rooster plates are on the small size so I poked colorful plates behind them to add some interest. Besides the Rooster plates seemed to blend right in to the background when I placed them on the shelves. Couldn't have that.
Then I went out poodling in thrift shops and found the little creamer that matches! Oh, joy!
So a chick theme was developing, or maybe a Rooster thing. Yard birds for sure. I've added a couple of my hen tureens and then poked in a few of my olden chicks and Roosters. The two little green ones on the top right are sitting on an egg dish. I guess my favorite is the hen and her two little chicks on the bottom left hand side.
Then a quartet of more Yard Birds cute as pumpkin pie!
I just love using my scales. I really don't know how old this one is as she is still so pretty and bright with no scratches but she was a perfect place to set my little creamer.
Some greens on top and a couple more Yard Birds and I was done. As I stood back to take a look at my arrangement I realized how much the red showed up. I was seeing red! You know I just love the color red and seem to always have some around me. It makes me happy and I hope it makes you happy too.
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Little Red Rooster
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
Keep everything in the farm yard upset in every way
The dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Watch out strange cat people
Little red rooster's on the prowl
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
Ain't had no peace in the farm yard
Since my little red rooster's been gone

Shelia, You have a talent for putting colors together. Your hutch always looks so good especially with those pops of red. I wish you could come visit me and give me some pointers on how I could add color to my rooms. I always go the safe way with monochromatic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I found your comment in my spam box. I have no idea what happened there and I am so sorry that only yesterday did I find it. I have followed you for a long time, but never commented too often.
I like your new home and that you get to be near your grandchildren. You are blessed.
Very, very nice. Love the yard birds and using a solid color plate behind the white to bring the eye to the design. Very attractive.

AHHH, Sheila, I love the pops of red on your pretty hutch. The "olden" rooster plates are adorable! I did think the hutch was yellow. Either way it is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Shelia; those green rooster plates are the pattern of my Granny's everyday dishes! I got her set when she passed but there were several missing. A few years latter I found an entire set for sale on Ebay so I bought them up! Love your kitchen, both the red and the roosters...the perfect combination!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!
Blessings,
Cindy
