Good Ole Summertime

Hello, Dear Ones! Another break today from my miniatures! I really am living my life and not just playing with dollhouse furniture. I wanted to share with you some of the wonderful times we're having this summer!
There's been lots of swimming! Our daughter has a huge pool and the little ones are having a ball. I can't swim but do enjoy getting into the shallow end, but my knee won't let me climb up and down the steep pool steps this year. Maybe next year.
Not to mention the Slip 'n Slide! There have been so many improvements since my kids had a Slip 'n Slide. I love the pillowy part at the front so you don't have to plop down on your belly to start. Then the end has a little 'pool' area! Needless to say, they are enjoying this.

My little Carter has been taking swimming lessons for some time now and she was asked to be on a little swim team - The Wild Turkeys. She is the youngest one and we're so proud of her. The above snaps were taken at one of her meets. That's her little head on the right and this was a 'free' swim where she could use any stroke but had to swim across the entire pool.
Here she is at home practicing her backwards dive. She's up in the air here!
Little brother Camp is always ready in his floaties!
I forgot to show you this - my little grandchildren made this for me for mother's day. I will cherish this with their little hands poked down!!
My plants are doing so well! For the longest time our temps were so very nice and cool. It is hot now but we have so many shade trees that help protect our yard and plants from the hot sun. My hostas are truly huge! I planted foxgloves this spring (well, Mr. Precious did) and they were gorgeous and bloomed their little hearts out but I forgot to take any snaps of them. He also planted some little Fushias for me too. Don't they look just like little ballerinas? Just a little peep into a little bit of my summer. I hope you are all having a good time. I think we'll be going on another trip in Kiki pretty soon!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Summertime, Summertime

It's summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime summertime sum sum summertime summertime...

Well shut them books and throw em away
Say goodbye to dull school days
So come on and change your ways
It's summertime...

Well no more studying history
And no more reading geography
And no more dull geometry
Because it's summertime

It's time to head straight for them hills
It's time to live and have some thrills
Come along and have a ball
A regular free-for-all

Well are you comin or are you ain't
You slow-pokes are my one complaint
Hurry up before I faint
It's summertime

Well I'm so happy that I could flip
Oh how I'd love to take a trip
I'm sorry teacher but zip your lip
Because it's summertime

It's time to head straight for them hills
It's time to live and have some thrills
Come along and have a ball
A regular free for all

Well we'll go swimmin every day
No time to work just time to play
If your folks complain just say,
It's summertime

And every night we'll have a dance
Cause what's a vacation without romance
Oh man this jive has me in a trance
Because it's summertime

It's time to head straight for them hills
It's time to live and have some thrills
Come along and have a ball A regular free for all
It's summertime

It's summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime summertime sum sum summertime
Summertime

It's summertime

  1. I love seeing the photos of the kids swimming -it reminds me so much of when my kids were their ages. They LIVED in our pool and the lake. Kind of made me misty eyed. Have a good Sunday!

  4. Shelia, I loved seeing your summer pictures. Bless little Carter, it's wonderful she is enjoying swimming. Your gardens are beautiful. It's plenty hot here too. I rarely water our lawns as we use well water and I do not like to run the pump.. We sure could use some new trees. I may have to think about that for next spring. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

  5. It sounds like you've lived there forever, there with your grandchildren watching them grow and thrive. My hostas are browned around the edges from the horrid and constant heat of summer. This is the time of year when I yearn for fall.

  6. The best part of Summer was always Slip N Slide. Our munchkins are such turkeys they whine about it. We keep debating on trying the tarp version with Dawn dish soap.
