This and That

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I wanted to share with you my beautiful roses Mr. Precious brought to me!
He went down into the basement and grabbed this vase and I think he did good because the colors match the roses.
They were buds and now they are beginning to open up.  I smell them each time I go into the kitchen.
February 11th was my daughter's birthday. I hobbled around in the kitchen and made her a chocolate cake. Mr. Precious went to the grocery store to buy 41 candles and the candy letters. I just don't think she looks 41, do you? Do you remember those little candy letters? I hadn't seen those in years but they got across our message! We were keeping Camp that morning and he kept saying it was his birthday and this was his birthday cake! He's a little hoot!
I got in on the action too. As you can see, I look a little peaked, as my little mother would have said, pronounced 'peak cad'. Getting busted up and chopped up has really done a number on me. Oh, I've also stopped coloring my hair so I have lots of grays to show! ;)
Mr. Precious put on the candles! 41 candles. He put lots of them on a slant and then as soon as they were lit they began to drip as you can see. We had a nice time with our girl. Our son in law is working on a project at work and was going to work late so I told my daughter to bring the babies and come over for dinner. I got up and down through the afternoon to make enchiladas and they turned out really good. Of course we ate more birthday cake.

I wanted to tell you I'm making progress, it's rather slow but steady. I have gone two times now to a rehab center and will be going twice a week for two months and then they'll decide if I'm good to go or if I need a little more physical therapy. My doctor says he'll release me in July! Man, that's a long time. Mr. Precious gets me out for a drive at least two times a week or more. It's getting easier to get into the car as my legs are getting stronger. I have a little Rubbermaid stool I have to use because I'm so short, but it works.

I was so excited as last Friday we went out to our favorite restaurant! Brought in my little stool so I could prop up my leg. That was my first time in two months. And...another exciting thing...we went to the grocery store and rode in the little electric cart and shopped. I was having a ball! Those things are just great. I also got my handicapped tag to hang on the mirror so Mr. Precious can park closer for me. Well, he deposits me at the door of the stores and then goes to park.

I've stopped sleeping with a pillow under my knee at night. That doesn't sound like much but it's a big thing for me. I'm able to sleep so much better. I'm sleeping 9 to 10 hours each night too! That's the most I've slept probably since I was a baby! :) You'd think I wouldn't look so peaked! :)

I'm able to climb the stairs and have been doing that for about a month or more because our bedroom is upstairs. I wandered into my little sewing room and decided I would start to make more doll clothes for Babbette, the Bitty Baby doll that I will be giving Carter for her birthday. My sewing chair is on wheels and I can poodle all over that room! I'll be sharing with you the clothes in another post.

Carter is doing well. She's on Winter Break this week and her other grandmother is here for a visit. I think I can manage a dessert and have them over before she leaves. She had more blood work done today, she gets it done each week, and we keep praying God will heal her. Thank you all for your concern and prayer.

Well, I've talked your ears off so I'll say buh bye for now!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Take It Easy

Well I'm a runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load

I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl my Lord in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
~ sung by the Eagles

I am so glad that you are doing so well. As we age it takes longer for us to get back on on are feet and feel great. I think you are doing so well. Keep up the good work.
Don't you just love those little riding carts, I sure do. When my back or knee is acting up I use it, otherwise I try and push the cart and walk for exercise as I can hang on to the cart.
Prayers are coming your way for you and sweet little Carter.
    Have a great week, Shelia.
    Hugs,
    Mary

  22. You have so much going on, Shelia, but so much is good and you have a great positive outlook. Love seeing pics of your daughter, I think she looks very much like you. And not at all over 40!

So glad you are making progress with your knee. When I broke my arm this past summer it seems the the pain and PT would never end. A leg would truly be restricting. Good going!

Sending love and prayers for Carter---she is a trooper and is so loved by family all around.

  25. I'm so glad to hear you are doing well. Your progress is great news! Mr. Precious sure did a nice job choosing your roses and that vase. Oh, my! It's perfect~ I loved hearing of your escapades and your ride on the scooter at the store. A few years ago I had to do the same because of an ankle problem. I was worried I'd run over someone but it didn't take long to realize I could be a good 'driver' while shopping.
