Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I thought I would start by showing you Babbette, the Bitty Baby I bought from a neighbor. Babbette is going to be Carter's birthday present in March. She came with a bed, swing and a little book.
These are the clothes Babbette had on when she came into my possession. Cute little simple blue checked dress.
...and a cute little bib.
As I told you earlier, I'm sewing for Babbette so she'll have a nice wardrobe when I give her to Carter. You've already seen some of the crocheted things I've made her and if you're interested in seeing them you can go to my sidebar on the right and click on Midweek With Marion and it will take you to all of my posts for the dolls.
So I thought I would start with the basics and make Babbette some diapers. I had some leftover fabric from some little receiving blankets (do they even call them that now?) and thought that would be perfect. I also made a little bib for her. Not too fancy but it'll do the job. You know how messy these babies can get.
I found a free pattern on Pinterest and adjusted it just a bit and it seems to fit her well. These diapers are lined with another patterned flannel on the other side just to make them more interesting.
Well, good grief! There she goes taking one of her naps right at the end of my post! The little sweetheart gets tired so easily. I know these are just little simple things but every baby needs some diapers and bibs. I've been having the most fun sewing for Babbette and have some really cute clothes to show you coming up. Hope you'll come back.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Be My Baby, such a catchy song. Carter will be smiling away with baby Babbette and her beautiful wardrobe made lovingly by her Grandma.

ReplyDeleteOh Shelia, Babette is adorable! I am sure Carter will love her to pieces. And I am also sure she will have lots of fun dressing her up in the lovely wardrobe you are making.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you are right, diapers are essentials for babies like Babette.
Keep having fun!

These dolls take me back to when my daughter was enjoying them. She had three of them and one was Bitty Baby. The bib and diapers are the cutest!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, Well Babette is so cute and she will have the best wardrobe in town created by your very talented hands and imagination. Love the sweet little diapers. I can see you are having so much fun. Hope you're feeling better and healing each and everyday. Prayers continue for you my friend and Carter too. Blessings xo
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable! I can visualize the bright eyes and big smile on Carter's face soon!
ReplyDeleteShelia,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful birthday present for Carter, dear friend!
I still have the red & white gingham check dress and the red corduroy hooded coat my Grandmother made for my Madame Alexander Doll many years ago. My favorite Fairy Tale was Little Red Riding Hood. And when we visited her, I thought of the story. My Dad was wonderful at trying to scare me, as the Big Bad Wolf! Oh, how they did entertain me!
I'm telling you all of this, so that you'll know in your heart, that Carter will carry these memories with her, as well!
Adorable wardrobe beginnings for a Bitty Baby!
Prayers continue on your behalf!
Fondly,
Pat
The diapers are so cute, and how clever of you to use a receiving blanket for them! I could imagine how soft they must be. Don't you just love that Ronette's song? Still great after all these years.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great grandmother, making baby doll clothes and all. They will be special to your baby because YOU made them. My sewing skills are sooo rusty. I need a project or two for practice. I hope Carter is doing well, and that your poor old knee is about healed. Sheila
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that! I have some baby dolls...I should probably get back to sewing doll clothes. They always need new clothes...and shoes! heehee! Take care of yourself sweet friend. I keep you in my prayers. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteBabette is a sweetie and so are you. She has you to thank for being the most well dressed baby on the block!
ReplyDeleteI hope you and Carter continue to do well.
Sending love...
Jane

I'm catching up again after being under the weather for a bit. Babette is darling and her diapers are just perfect. I've been wanting to get a baby doll and start sewing for our little Bryn. Her fourth birthday will be in August and she loves her babies. You inspire me. Now if I could only find a cutie pie like yours!
