New Dining Room Rug

Hello, Dear Ones! I wanted to tell you I'm really doing well with my physical therapy. I go twice a week and am learning all kinds of stretches, ouchy still, but I'm giving it all I can. I started out with a 50% or so bend with my knee and last Friday I was able to bend my knee over 90%! Yay me! They want me to get to 120% bend. Just wanted to let you know how I'm doing. Thank you all for asking.

Well, I thought I would take a break from showing you the clothes for Babbette I've sewn and show a little bit of decor.
When we bought our old/new house this was the first time to have wood floors. We really do love them and I have to admit ~ the wood floors are easier to keep clean. You can see your dust bunnies!  So with that being said, we didn't have big rugs to cover the floors and we began to purchase some one at a time. We've bought rugs for the living room, den and guest room so far.
A few weeks ago Mr. Precious told me to get ready and we would go out for dinner. Well, I was feeling better and was ready after over two months to dine out! He said why don't we stop in the carpet store and just look at some rugs for the dining room. Okie dokie, right down my alley. I hobbled all over that carpet store on my walker and we picked out two rugs! The one you see here is for the dining room and we got one for the master bedroom too. I'll show you the bedroom rug later because we're waiting until I'm walker free so we can slide it under the bed and I haven't made my curtains yet (got the fabric and lining material just haven't made them). He had planned this as he was there during the day looking at rugs. He's so sweet, ya know. :)
I'm loving it and think this new rug really pulls the room together and grounds it. My voice doesn't echo like it did either! I thought the border went well with the drapes in here too! Oh, after Christmas I added some sheers to the dining room and living room windows for a little privacy. Not my favorite choice but it helps hide me a little bit as I'm hobbling on my walker running around in my nightgown from the Peeping Toms! :)
The rug is an 8 x 10 and there's plenty of room to pull the chairs out from the table and the legs are still on the rug. I don't like to see a rug that's too small that when you pull out a chair the back legs bounce down on the floor. Well, I was so excited to show you and hope you like it. My room is a little nekked as I've not been able to do any decorating as all of my stuff is in the basement! Maybe one day I'll be able to go down and bring up some pretties.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

I Only Have Eyes For You

My love must be a kind of blind love.
I can't see anyone but you.
Are the stars out tonight?
I don't know if it's cloudy or bright.
I only have eyes for you, dear.

The moon may be high,
But I can't see a thing in the sky.
'Cause I only have eyes for you.

I don't know if we're in a garden
Or on a crowded avenue.

You are here, so am I.
Maybe millions of people go by.
But they all disappear from view.
And I only have eyes for you.

Little Farmer Baby

Hello, Dear Ones! I have another little outfit to show you for Babbette today.
Little overalls! Just the perfect outfit for picking apples in the fall or just about anywhere Babbette would want to go. I'm sure she would be styling even at Target! I have had the green and white striped fabric for a long time and it has cute little embroidered daisies on it too.
The little straps cross in the back and I made her a little white shirt with puff sleeves and a collar! Hey, I'm gettin' pretty good at these little Peter Pan collars! I've never enjoyed using bias tape for neck lines but I've been doing it and getting better with it. There is a little yellow button at the neck of her shirt but it really doesn't show up very well. There are little openings on each side of her overalls so she can wiggle in them better. I always use velcro for the fasteners as it's easy for little hands to use.

Uh oh! Since I mentioned apples, Babbette is begging for applesauce. Excuse me while I grab a bib and a spoon!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree

I wrote my mother
I wrote my father
And now I'm writing you too
I'm sure of mother
I'm sure of father
And now I wanna be sure of you
Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me
Anyone else but me, anyone else but me
No, no, no
Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me
Till I come marching home
Don't go walking down lovers' lane with anyone else but me
Anyone else but me, anyone else but me
No, no, no
Don't go walking down lovers' lane with anyone else but me
Till I come marching home
I just got word from a guy who heard
From the guy next door to me
The girl he met just loves to pet
And it fits you to a T
So don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me
Till I come marching home
Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me
(With anyone else but her)
No, no, no, not a single soul but me
No, no, no, don't you sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me
Not till you see me, not until you see me marching home
Home, home, home, home sweet home
Don't go walking down lovers' lane with anyone else but me
(With anyone else but her)
No, no, no, not a single soul but me
No, no, no, don't you go walking down lovers' lane
With anyone else but me
Not till you see me, not until you see me marching home
Home, home, home, home sweet home
Just wait till I come marching home
No, don't go walking down lovers' lane
No, walking down lovers' lane till you see me
When you see me marching home
Then we'll go arm in arm and
Sit down under the apple tree
Baby, just you and me
When I come marching home

Put Your Coat On!

Hello, Dear Ones! I hope you're not tired of seeing my little doll clothes I'm making. Just a little update on me - I'm doing well. I'm going to physical therapy twice a week and we're working on stretching my knee and trying to get it back to normal. I've gotten to 76% one day but then the next time I could only bend 70%. But it's improving slowly. My surgeon says he'll release me in July. I may have told you that already. I've bought the cutest pink cane, can't use it yet but I will.

Okie dokie...on with Babbette's new clothes...
Since it's so cold up here I knew Babbette needed a coat. I keep forgetting to take a picture of the pattern with all of these darling designs. Well, it's upstairs and I'm downstairs so maybe another day.
Oh, I think this is so very cute, don't you? The coat and the bonnet are just perfect for a little baby. I think I have some snaps of me as a baby in a little coat and bonnet very similar.
Let me show you the bonnet! So sweet with the brim lined with lace. You can tell Babbette really thinks she's cute in this.
Look at how sweet it looks on her little head.
Here is the back of the bonnet and you can see how it's gathered on to the sides. Oh, you can also see up close on the collar, also trimmed with the lace.
I just have to show you every little piece of the coat! Here you'll see the gathers in the back that's attached to the yoke piece
This little pattern went together so easily but it really has a lot of details. I don't know it you can see it, but under each arm there are little pleats to give Babbette more ease when she's moving her little baby arms.

Well, I sure hope you've enjoyed seeing Babbette's new coat and bonnet. I don't know if you've noticed but Babbette is barefoot! She ain't got no shoes! :) I'll have to do something about that. Maybe some little boats? We'll see.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Two Coats

Two coats were before me, the old and the new
I asked my sweet Master, what must I do
The first coat was ugly, so tattered and torn
The other a new coat, had never been worn

I tell you the best thing I ever did do
I took off the old coat and put on the new
I tell you the best thing I ever did do
I took off the old coat and put on the new

The first man was earthly, and raised from the ground
We bore on his image, the whole world around
The next was my Savior from Heaven so fair
He gave me this new coat you now see me wear

Now this coat, it suits me, it keeps me so warm
It's good in the winter and it's good in the storm
My Savior has blessed me with a garment so rare
He gave me this new coat you now see me wear

Pinks For Baby Girls

Hello, Dear Ones! Well here I am again with another little outfit for baby Babbette!

Every little baby girl should have some pink, don't you think? So I aim to please and made some little pink slacks and top for her. The little top was from a free pattern from Pinterest but the neck part was so big. There were no instructions and it was supposed to kinda smocked. I have too much confidence in my talented self and thought I could do it. Well, poop! I couldn't do it so I just made little pleats at each sleeve, which were raglan sleeves, at the front and back. Doesn't look as nice as I would like but it's done! Hopefully no one will know it wasn't meant to be like this. Live and learn! :)

Now this was the fun part! The little slack fit Babbette perfectly and I added a little special zig zag stitch for the hem. I think it's cute! Here I go bragging on myself. Well, after my boo boo I think it's okay! ;)
Poor Babbette! She tries very hard to stand up but her little legs aren't quite strong enough to stand for long. So down she goes and I think that means we're done! ;)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

My Girl

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day

When it's cold outside I've got the month of May
Well I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
I've got so much honey the bees envy me
I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees
Well I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl ooh)
Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Ooh yeah
I don't need no money, fortune, or fame (ooh hey hey hey)
I've got all the riches baby one man can claim (oh yes I do)
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl (my girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)

Baby With the Blue Dress On!

Hello, Dear Ones! Well as promised I'm going to show you today a little blue dress I made for Babbette.
Isn't this so sweet? I love how it turned out. I forgot to take a picture of the pattern I used but it was an old 1940s or so pattern that was remade and brought back and fits the Bitty Baby or other 15" dolls.
I know, I know that's some honkin' big rick rack, but it's what I had. Babbette doesn't mind. Isn't the little collar so cute. You don't know how much joy I get making these little doll clothes.
Well, as you can see Babbette needs some shoes! :) But she does have some cute little toes.
She is very proud of her little dress and wanted to show it to you one more time. Sorry I'm not too creative with my background but I'm up in my sewing room and this is the best place to snap. Once I'm upstairs Mr. Precious won't let me come back down the stairs without him. I have sneaked down by myself a few times but don't tell him!  :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Devil With The Blue Dress On

Devil with the blue dress, blue dress, blue dress
Devil with the blue dress on
Devil with the blue dress, blue dress, blue dress
Devil with the blue dress on

Fee, fee, fi, fi, for-fo, fum
Look at Molly now, here she comes
Wearin' her wig hat and shades to match
She's got high-heel shoes and an alligator hat
Wearin' her pearls and her diamond rings
She's got bracelets on her fingers, now, and everything

Wearin' her perfume, Chanel No. 5
Got to be the finest girl alive
She walks real cool, catches everybody's eye
They got to be nervous, they can't say Hi
Not too skinny, she's not too fat
She's a real humdinger and I like 'em like that

Good golly, Miss Molly
You sure like to ball
Good golly, Miss Molly
You sure like to ball
It's late in the evenin'
Don't you hear your mama call

From the early, early mornin' 'til the early, early nights
See Miss Molly rockin' at the House of Blue Lights
Good golly, Miss Molly
You sure like to ball
While you're rocking and you're rolling
Can't you hear your mama call

Let's Start at the Beginning

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I thought I would start by showing you Babbette, the Bitty Baby I bought from a neighbor. Babbette is going to be Carter's birthday present in March. She came with a bed, swing and a little book.
These are the clothes Babbette had on when she came into my possession. Cute little simple blue checked dress.
 ...and a cute little bib.
As I told you earlier, I'm sewing for Babbette so she'll have a nice wardrobe when I give her to Carter. You've already seen some of the crocheted things I've made her and if you're interested in seeing them you can go to my sidebar on the right and click on Midweek With Marion and it will take you to all of my posts for the dolls.

So I thought I would start with the basics and make Babbette some diapers. I had some leftover fabric from some little receiving blankets (do they even call them that now?) and thought that would be perfect. I also made a little bib for her. Not too fancy but it'll do the job. You know how messy these babies can get.
I found a free pattern on Pinterest and adjusted it just a bit and it seems to fit her well. These diapers are lined with another patterned flannel on the other side just to make them more interesting.
Well, good grief! There she goes taking one of her naps right at the end of my post! The little sweetheart gets tired so easily. I know these are just little simple things but every baby needs some diapers and bibs. I've been having the most fun sewing for Babbette and have some really cute clothes to show you coming up. Hope you'll come back.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Be My Baby

The night we met I knew I needed you so
And if I had the chance I'd never let you go
So won't you say you love me,
I'll make you so proud of me.
We'll make 'em turn their heads every place we go
So won't you, please, be my be my baby
Be my little. baby my one and only baby
Say you'll be my darlin', be my be my baby
Be my baby now, my one and only baby
Wha-oh-oh-oh.
I'll make you happy, baby, just wait and see
For every kiss you give me I'll give you three
Oh, since the day I saw you
I have been waiting for you
You know I will adore you 'til eternity
So won't you, please, be my be my baby
Be my little. baby my one and only baby
Say you'll be my darlin', be my be my baby
Be my baby now, my one and only baby
Wha-oh-oh-oh.
So come on and, please, be my be my baby
Be my little baby my one and only baby
Say you'll be my darlin', be my be my baby
Be my baby now, my one and only baby

My one and only baby wha-oh-oh-oh-oh
Be my be my baby oh,
My one and only baby
Be my be my baby oh,
Be my baby now

This and That

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I wanted to share with you my beautiful roses Mr. Precious brought to me!
He went down into the basement and grabbed this vase and I think he did good because the colors match the roses.
They were buds and now they are beginning to open up.  I smell them each time I go into the kitchen.
February 11th was my daughter's birthday. I hobbled around in the kitchen and made her a chocolate cake. Mr. Precious went to the grocery store to buy 41 candles and the candy letters. I just don't think she looks 41, do you? Do you remember those little candy letters? I hadn't seen those in years but they got across our message! We were keeping Camp that morning and he kept saying it was his birthday and this was his birthday cake! He's a little hoot!
I got in on the action too. As you can see, I look a little peaked, as my little mother would have said, pronounced 'peak cad'. Getting busted up and chopped up has really done a number on me. Oh, I've also stopped coloring my hair so I have lots of grays to show! ;)
Mr. Precious put on the candles! 41 candles. He put lots of them on a slant and then as soon as they were lit they began to drip as you can see. We had a nice time with our girl. Our son in law is working on a project at work and was going to work late so I told my daughter to bring the babies and come over for dinner. I got up and down through the afternoon to make enchiladas and they turned out really good. Of course we ate more birthday cake.

I wanted to tell you I'm making progress, it's rather slow but steady. I have gone two times now to a rehab center and will be going twice a week for two months and then they'll decide if I'm good to go or if I need a little more physical therapy. My doctor says he'll release me in July! Man, that's a long time. Mr. Precious gets me out for a drive at least two times a week or more. It's getting easier to get into the car as my legs are getting stronger. I have a little Rubbermaid stool I have to use because I'm so short, but it works.

I was so excited as last Friday we went out to our favorite restaurant! Brought in my little stool so I could prop up my leg. That was my first time in two months. And...another exciting thing...we went to the grocery store and rode in the little electric cart and shopped. I was having a ball! Those things are just great. I also got my handicapped tag to hang on the mirror so Mr. Precious can park closer for me. Well, he deposits me at the door of the stores and then goes to park.

I've stopped sleeping with a pillow under my knee at night. That doesn't sound like much but it's a big thing for me. I'm able to sleep so much better. I'm sleeping 9 to 10 hours each night too! That's the most I've slept probably since I was a baby! :) You'd think I wouldn't look so peaked! :)

I'm able to climb the stairs and have been doing that for about a month or more because our bedroom is upstairs. I wandered into my little sewing room and decided I would start to make more doll clothes for Babbette, the Bitty Baby doll that I will be giving Carter for her birthday. My sewing chair is on wheels and I can poodle all over that room! I'll be sharing with you the clothes in another post.

Carter is doing well. She's on Winter Break this week and her other grandmother is here for a visit. I think I can manage a dessert and have them over before she leaves. She had more blood work done today, she gets it done each week, and we keep praying God will heal her. Thank you all for your concern and prayer.

Well, I've talked your ears off so I'll say buh bye for now!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Take It Easy

Well I'm a runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load

I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl my Lord in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello Dear Ones and I want to wish you all a very happy Valentine's Day!

You're all my bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Unchained Melody

Oh my love my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me

Lonely rivers flow to the sea to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh wait for me wait for me
I'll be coming home wait for me

Oh my love my darling
I've hungered hungered for your touch
A long lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me

Hot Diggity Dog!

Hello, Dear Ones! I just have to share this with you...have you ever seen a cuter mixer?
I'm so thrilled about these wonderful little decals for my mixer that our fellow blogger makes and sells. Most of you know her I'm sure, her name is Kathy who blogs at Kathy's Cottage.
She has an Etsy shop called Hens in Daises and sells these wonderful little decals to spice up your mixer.
She's been making these for quite some time and I've looked and looked at them but had just never bit the bullet to buy any. Besides, she has a white mixer to showcase her pretties and mine is red! I couldn't find anything that would look good on mine. I emailed her and she said she could change the colors for any design I wanted! Well, glory be! Give me those Swiss Dots and Roses and she did the roses in yellow for me! I love it, don't you?
The decals were very easy to put on and she had a sheet of instructions in the package to guide me along.
Don't you just love it? I can only stand up for about 20 minutes or so before my knee starts to hurt, so I had to hurry so I could get the decals on my mixer. I got all of the pieces together and went to town.
I just smile every time I walk into my kitchen (well, hobble in on my walker). This has really brightened up my mixer. There were some little strips of lace that were to go under the stainless steel part, but they wouldn't fit. I know there are different sizes of KitchenAids and mine must be one of the smaller ones.

I want to thank Kathy so much for working with me on this design. Pop on over and visit her and visit her shop as you may just want to jazz up your mixer too!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

Red Roses For a Blue Lady

 I Want Some
Red roses for a blue lady
Mister florist take my order please
We had a silly quarrel the other day
Hope these pretty flowers chase her blues away
Wrap up some red roses for a blue lady
Send them to the sweetest gal in town
And if they do the trick
I'll hurry back to pick
Your best white orchid for her wedding gown

Dressed In Her Sunday Best

Hello, Dear Ones. Well this is the last crocheted dress for Marion that I have to show you, for now. I'm getting a bit bored and am a little tired of crocheting so we'll see. But she is very happy to be dressed in a cute little dress with her purse and shoes. These are her clothes and she is not passing them on to Carter's doll.
I love to show the backs of her dresses too. They turn out pretty cute and this one has two little buttons.
Now we all know any little outfit for church needs a purse so I whipped one up with crochet thread. It's just the perfect size for a tiny little mirror, comb and a tad of lip gloss. She's too young for lipstick, ya know! ;)
And of course shoes! I know, I know, it's a little too early to be wearing white shoes but this is what Marion wanted and I aim to please. This is her outfit.
Well, I guess that's it because Marion is tired and has sat down and she is not looking at me! :)
If you'd like to see all of the clothes I've crocheted and sewn for American Girl sized dolls and Bitty Baby dolls, you can look at my side bar on the right and click on Midweek With Marion and you can see all of the clothes my dainty talented fingers have made. You know I'm kidding. Not about seeing the clothes but about my fingers! :)

 Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you a little Note Song ~

A Sunday Kind of Love

I want a Sunday kind of love
A love to last past Saturday night
And I’d like to know
It’s more than love at first sight
And I want a Sunday kind of love
Oh yeah, yeah

I want a, a love that’s on the square
Can’t seem to find somebody
Someone to care
And I’m on a lonely road
That leads to nowhere
I need a Sunday kind of love

I do my Sunday dreaming, oh yeah
And all my Sunday scheming
Every minute, every hour, every day
Oh, I’m hoping to discover
A certain kind of lover
Who will show me the way

And my arms need someone
Someone to enfold
To keep me warm when Mondays and Tuesdays grow cold
Love for all my life to have and to hold
Oh and I want a Sunday kind of love
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah

I don’t want a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday
Or Thursday, Friday or Saturday
Oh nothing but Sunday, oh yeah
I want a Sunday Sunday
I want a Sunday kind of love, oh yeah
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday kind of love

~ sung by Etta James
