UpDate on Urgent Prayer Request

Dear Ones, I will just keep adding updates on our little Carter here. You can also check my FaceBook page too. Thank you so much for your prayers.

Nov. 28, 2015
We will live Thanksgiving every day from now on. Thank you all so much for your prayers for our little Carter. As of today she is decorating her Christmas tree with her family.
This was taken Thanksgiving afternoon when Carter got out of the hospital and we're eating dinner that our wonderful church catered to us. Blessings abound. Looking at this it is so hard to believe my little angel was at death's door. But God heard our prayers and brought her through. I've said it before, but I just can never thank you all for praying and caring so much for our little precious. God is so good. Sending much much love...Shelia ;)
Nov. 27, 2015
Dear Ones, one last update on our little Carter and I will put this to rest for a little while. Carter slept well last night and her daddy made pancakes for her this morning. Her Bubba (Mr. Precious) has promised to take her to the store and she can pick out anything she wants and he will buy it for her.    :) Please continue to pray for Carter's recovery and her parents. They are very worn out and vulnerable at this time and Satan is bombarding them with negative thoughts right now. They realize it's a spiritual battle but please play for them. God is good and we give Him all of the glory for how He has worked His healing hand through little Carter. We couldn't have gotten this far without all of your support and prayers. Again, you'll never know what this means to us. We just continue to pray for Carter daily that she can live a normal life as she goes through the treatments and changes to her life.  I'm going to take a much needed break and a long long breath for a little while. If anything changes I'll let you know. Love, love, love you.

Nov. 26, 2015
Dear Ones! I just had to write one more time today about our little Carter. She woke up this morning after her treatment and was playing and doing so well. They dismissed her this afternoon and we've just had Thanksgiving dinner with our family and our precious little Carter. She will have another treatment in a few weeks and we will still need your prayers. She is on some oral meds right now, a steroid, even a blood pressure pill because the steroids seem to make her blood pressure go up. It's not very high but the med is prevent future problems. She really has no limitations on what she can do but will have a salt reduced diet and no processed foods. My daughter and her family eat very healthy so this won't be very hard to do. We cannot put into words how much we appreciate your prayers. These prayers to our God have sustained us and has brought Carter through this very scary time. We know it's not over but prayerfully the worse is over. We prayer you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This has definitely been our best Thanksgiving! We give God all the glory for what He has done for us. Thank you again and I love you.

Nov. 26, 2016
Dear Ones, I want to wish you all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving! We are praising the Lord again this morning as Carter came through her treatment like a little trooper! She slept through the entire thing with nothing abnormal happening. There was a long delay because she just refused to take some of the oral meds before they could start the chemo drip. One of her little friends came to visit and she was bribed - take your medicine and then you can play with Sophie! It worked! So her treatment didn't start until around 9:30 pm when it was supposed to start at 4pm. Praise God for you all and your faithfulness to pray for Carter. God hears the prayers from His children and He is honoring them! Oh, I forgot to thank you for all of the birthday wishes. I feel so blessed and am singing praises for our Lord Jesus this morning. Love you.

 Nov. 25, 2015
Dear Ones, I hope you don't tire of me reporting on Carter. I have some good news. Her chest xray came back clear! Praise the Lord! We also learned this disease attacks the kidneys first and she has lesions on her kidneys from about two weeks ago which usually spread. But there are no new ones. That's another praise the Lord! Her doctor is the top in his field and is consulting with other doctors who treat this disease but most of their patients are adults. That's why this is so rare in a five year old. I come with another prayer request. She has started her chemo treatment now and it will last for five hours. They will monitor her during this time and we ask for prayer that her little body will respond properly with no complications or side effects. Her doctor has ordered four treatments just in case but is hoping he'll only have to administer two. You don't know how very much we appreciate your prayers. We feel the peace of Jesus surrounding us. Our daughter and son in law really need your prayers. They have tried so hard to stay strong for Carter but it's so hard. Again, I love you!

 Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015
Dear Ones, here I am again requesting prayer as Carter has her first treatment this morning. I so appreciate your prayers, concern and advice. I wanted to correct myself as I misspoke. Carter's doctor has treated this illness a number of times but never in one so young that why it's so scary. This is a very rare auto-immune disease that causes inflammation to blood vessels and attacks your body's organs. He says it was caught very early and this should help with the treatment. Thank you again for your support and prayers. There is nothing to difficult for our God and we're still holding fast to Him. Love you.

Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015
Dear Ones, we've just gotten the results from all of the tests on little Carter. She has a very rare auto immune disease and that has what has been happening starting with the rash, which was her body's way of trying to fight it off almost a month ago. Her doctor is amazed that the numbers in her blood work have almost gotten down to normal. It has attacked her kidneys and attacks other organs of her body rapidly. The next thing is a lung xray and prayerfully there will be no damage. Don't know if it's curable but it can be treated with a drug like chemo and we don't know how long she'll need treatment. It's not cancerous, but the treatment needs to happen immediately. Again, this is not what we wanted to hear. We feel the doctor she has is the best. He is the head of the kidney department. He said he has treated this once before in an older child but it wasn't this severe. Again, we covet your prayers for Carter, her parents and of course George and I. We know definitely Jesus is in control of all things and He is greater than this.
It's just so hard to believe this has happened to a completely healthy little girl. Please, please pray.
Love you

Little Carter has had her procedure and is back in her room. The doctor said it went well and she was a trooper. They only biopsied one kidney but whatever is going on has affected both so they just needed to do the one. She's awake and waiting to eat some pancakes. Now we're praying for good results. Don't don't exactly when we'll hear, maybe tomorrow. Thank you again for all of your prayers and concern. Today is my birthday and my only wish is that my little Carter will be okay. Love to you all. Here's a little snap of Carter about to eat her pancakes. She's so precious to us all.

 Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015
Dear Ones, I'd like to give you an update on Carter. She continues to get a little better. Through the blood work this morning it shows she's better. She is still so so tired and cranky. The needle biopsy is still scheduled for 10ish in the morning and should take less than an hour. Everyone is worn out but we are so thankful to our Savior for what He is doing. Thank you for your prayers and we can feel the Lord's presence around us. Sending my love.

Nov. 22, 2015
I wanted to give you an update on our little Carter. As of this morning the doctor is going to wait on doing the needle biopsy of her kidneys and wait until Monday because she has improved some during the night. He also said as of now he will not do the catheter in her little neck for the dialysis. She has not been able to urinate and they thought her kidneys were shutting down but since she has been going a lot! 15 oz. and then 8 oz. Thank you, Jesus! Praise God! We know she is not out of the woods yet but God is moving in a mighty way and we thank you all for your prayers and would ask you to continue. Love you all.

Nov. 21, 2015
It's after 11pm here but I wanted to give you an update on Carter. She has been admitted into the hospital. They ran an ultrasound on her kidneys and something is wrong! She is getting some really strong steroids right now and through the night but in the morning they will do a needle biopsy on her kidneys. She will have to be sedated and also a catheter will be inserted into her little necek and she will have dialysis! We can not believe all of this is happening! The doctors don't know much else to tell them. They did tell my daughter and son-in-law many things that this could be and I'm not even going to tell you. One positive thing though is the doctor said this could clear up on it's own. They just don't know. My poor daughter is just a mess, dear ones. We've all a mess! Please continue to pray that God will heal our little girl and that His loving arms will be around our family as we go through this. He is great and He loves us and He is our healer. We're claiming that. Thank you for your prayers.

Nov. 20, 2015
Dear Ones, I need you right this moment! My little granddaughter Carter who is only five years old is in the emergency room. She has been sick for over three weeks. She broke out with hives all over her little body and the doctor tested her for strep and the results came back positive. Doctor said some kids have strep but not the regular symptoms. She didn't have a sore throat or anything. So after 3 different antibiotics, she just continued to get sicker. Weak, sick at her tummy, throwing up, and so tired she could hardly hold her little head up. She went in for blood work this morning and the doctor called by daughter back and said she had mono. In about an hour she called her back with more test results and said her kidneys were failing and to get her to the hospital. My daughter called me and needed me immediately to come and stay with Camp while she took Carter to the hospital. Our son in law met them and they been there now about two hours. We're waiting to hear from them now.

Please please pray for God's mighty hand to heal our little precious. I know so many of you love the Lord and are mighty prayer warriors. Thank you for your prayers and I'm claiming in Jesus' name that the medical staff will know how to treat her and get her on the road to recovery.

Love you all more than you will ever know.

Shelia ;)

Grape Leaf Patterned Milk Glass

Hello, Dear Ones! Well here I am again with some more milk glass to show you. Today I'm showing you some of my Grape Leaf patterned milk glass. I think this may be one of the most common patterns but it doesn't mean it isn't beautiful.
Doesn't this make you smile? It sure does me.
I have two covered candy dishes and don't you love how the sun is shining through the one on the right? See through - like milk!
And...I have two headless candy dishes. They ain't got no lids, y'all! :) But they are not scary at all.
Now this is a large pedestal bowl. It's about 9 or 10 inches across. I love it.
 So lovely and see through.
I recently found these Grape Leafed candlesticks! Aren't they sweet? My candles are lit just for you too!
So white. So milky. So see through. So loved!

I know I'm going to find lots of ways to decorate with these little lovelies! Do you love milk glass? It can be a really affordable collection to start. The trouble with me is I don't know when to stop because I can always find a piece!! ;)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Stomp Them Grapes

Stomp, stomp them grapes and make that wine
Put it in a bottle, boys, and ship it on down the line

Well, I got up this morning and made it downtown
Started mighty early just makin' my rounds
Well, I had me a woman she left me alone
I got to lose these blues before I take myself back home

So stomp, stomp them grapes and make that wine
Put it in a bottle, boys, and ship it on down the line
I said stomp, stomp them grapes and make that wine
'Cause there's a trouble man in trouble with a woman on his mind

Yesterday she loved me, today it's history
Why she should want to leave me is a deep dark mystery
I may not find the answer but I find me a jug
'Cause I'm gonna do some drinkin', boys, it's really got me fog

So stomp, stomp them grapes and make that wine
Put it in a bottle, boys, and ship it on down the line
I said stomp, stomp them grapes and make that wine
There's a trouble man in trouble with a woman

Milk Glass Punch Bowl

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, today I have a great set to add to my Milk Glass collection and wanted to show it to you.
Ta dah! Look! It's a punch bowl with eight cups! I almost fell over when I picked it up and saw it. The sticky tag said $5! What? I was trembling when I went up to the counter of the thrift shop! Got up there and gave my $5 bill and she said, "It's half price today." Teeter, swirl, spin and almost passed out!!
This pattern is called Thumbprint. It's a little hard to see with the sun shining through on it but it has the indentions that look similar to thumbprints! Simple and sweet.
Here's a close up of one of the cups. Yep, my fingertips are all wrinkly as I've just washed this set and couldn't wait to show it to you!
Oh boy! Oh joy! Can you imagine a pretty red punch with a little sprig of mint floating on top? Or a large colorful salad? But for now I think I'll just look at it. I love my milk glass. Guess what? I have more to show you!!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

You Beat Me To The Punch

That day, I first saw you passing by
I wanted to know your name but I was much too shy
But I was looking at you so hard
Until you must have had a hunch
So you came up to me and asked me my name
You beat me to the punch that time
You beat me to the punch, ohh ohh
You beat me to the punch
After I hadn't known you for it seems like a long, long time
I wanted, wanted to ask you, would you please, please be mine
Whenever you came around, my heart would pound
So you must have had a hunch
So you came up to me and asked me to be yours
You beat me to the punch one more time
You beat me to the punch
You beat me to the punch, yeah
Since I love you, I thought you would be true
And love me tender
So I let my heart surrender
To you, yes, I did
But I found out beyond a doubt one day, boy, you were a playboy
Who would go away and leave me blue
So I ain't gonna wait around for you to put me down
This time I'm gonna play my hunch
And walk away this very day
And beat you to the punch this time
And beat you to the punch this time
I'll beat you to the punch, yes, I will
And let you know, know, how it feels

My Love For Milk Glass

Hello, Dear Ones! Thank you all for coming to visit my Fallen home tour. Today it's all about the milk glass. I guess my obsession started with my little mother who had some pieces of milk glass and I always thought it was so pretty. The pieces were almost 'see through' like milk! :) When she passed away I received a few pieces and I looked at them with new eyes of appreciation. I started picking up pieces here and there but lately I have been on a Milk Glass kick and have gone to town pinning it on my Milk Glass board on  Pinterest. So today I thought I would show you some of my recent finds.
Here are some of my hobnail and diamond patterned Milk Glass. Isn't it beautiful? Just to let you know, Milk Glass seems to be plentiful around here and cheap, honey, cheap!! I can't help myself.
Look at this most gorgeous candlestick! Sit down, are you ready for it? It was $1.25! Yes, a buck and a quarter!! Woo Hooness for me! I'm using my fall floral basket as a backdrop and the afternoon sun is peeping over the top! I love this time of day!
See all of the little bumpy circles!! Love love love! I even poked in some non drip candles for you and lit them. It's hard to see the flame against the sunshine. Oh, did you know it's a faux pas to put a candle into a candlestick that has not been lit? Well, it is. A friend told me this many years ago and I believed her. So when I poke a new candle into a candlestick I always light it and let it burn a minute or so! We all want to know these things don't we?  :)
Then I found this beautiful compote which is actually a diamond pattern and she's so so pretty. See the stem? It's totally different with the little loops.
Don't you love the shape? It's not round like most are but squareish.
I'm not sure what this pattern is on the little candlestick and it cost me an entire dollar bill! I'll be on the lookout for it's mate. It reminds me of the candlewick pattern of pressed glass or the boopie glass pattern.
It looks like a little strand of pearls twirling around the base! I love this stuff!
Then I found this candy dish and I believe it cost $5. Works for me. It's the diamond pattern also and it's gorgeous, don't you think? It looks a little pink with the sun shining through.
Then another candy dish. I guess it's a candy dish but I remember my little mother had something similar that she kept on her dresser with talcum powder in it and was topped with a great big soft powder puff. She would let me 'powder' myself sometimes after my bath.
Look at the knob. Almost looks like a bunch of grapes! Hope you've enjoyed seeing some of my Milk Glass. Stay tuned because I have more! More is always more I say!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Milk Cow Boogie

Well, I woke up this morning,
And I looked out the door.
I can tell that old milk cow
By the way she lowed.

Hold it fellows, that don't move me.
Let's get real, real gone for a change.

Well, I woke up this morning
And I looked out the door
I can tell that that old milk cow
I can tell the way she lowed.

Well, if you've seen my milk cow,
Please ride her on home.
I ain't had no milk or butter
Since that cow's been gone.

Well, I tried to treat you right,
Day by day.
Get out your little prayer book
Get down on your knees and pray.
For you're gonna need,
You're gonna need
your loving daddy's help someday.
Well, then you're gonna be sorry
For treating me this way.
Well, believe me, don't that sun
look good going down?
Well, believe me, don't that sun
look good going down?
Well, don't that old moon look lonesome
When your baby's not around.

Well, I tried everything to
get along with you.
I'm gonna tell you what I'm going do.
I'm gonna quit my crying,
I'm gonna leave you alone.
If you don't believe I'm leaving,
you can count the days I'm gone.
I'm gonna leave.
You're gonna need your
loving daddy's help someday.

Well, you're gonna be sorry
You treated me this way

2015 Fall Home Tour

Hello, Dear Ones! I thought I would have my Fall home tour and I'll do my best to keep quiet. I'm so glad you're here and welcome to my home...
 Living Room
 Dining Room
Hope you've enjoyed my home tour! I did good being quiet, didn't I?
Before I leave you, I wanted to show you the glorious color that was on one of our trees but alas the leaves have fallen off and are covering our yard! We have been in upstate now a year and have just loved this beautiful Fall and our life. Hope you've enjoyed my home tour

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

The Falling Leaves

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Fall in the Breakfast Room

Hello, Dear Ones! Well I have just this last space to show you in my home that is decked out for Fall.

This little hutch is actually my little play toy! I have the best time changing it out for the seasons. I just left my Blue Willow dishes in it and added Fallen touches! Works for me.
Starting on the very top, this is what you see. I love my little Italian trio of Roosters. Got these many years ago in Rome in a little shop on the Piazza Navona. Then a small tool box with sweet plates, Fallen leaves and a pun'kin! Done!
Then the first shelf. Doesn't the oranges just look so pretty with the Blue Willow dishes?
I love my nesting chicken dishes too and this amber colored one looked like Fall.
I poked in some raffia and pun'kins in my antique Blue Willow bowl on the bottom and I was totally done! I love easy, don't you?
I took these snaps in the late afternoon and when I turned the lights off the sun was shining in just so prettily.
Reminds me that Fall is fleeting and Christmas is on it's way, y'all! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Let The Sunshine In

Mommy told me something a little kid should know

It's all about the devil and I learned to hate him so
She said he causes trouble when you let him in your room
He'll never ever leave you if your heart is filled with gloom

So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin
Smilers never lose and frowners never win
So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in

When you are unhappy, the devil wears a grin
But oh, he starts to run in when the light comes prowling in
I know he'll be unhappy 'cause I'll never wear a frown
Maybe if we keep on smiling he'll get tired of hanging 'round

If I forget to say my prayers the devil jumps with glee
But he feels so awful, awful when he sees me on my knees
So if you feel of trouble and you never seem to move

Just open up your heart and let the sun shine in

So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin
Smilers never lose and frowners never win
So let the sun shine in, face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in
Sun shine in, sun shine in

~ sung by all the little children
