Falling in the Living Room

Hello, Dear Ones. Well, I've finally Fallen in the living room. There has been quite a bit of Falling going on at my house!
First of all, back a while ago I asked for your advice as to what to do to finish the look over my sofa. I had the large art piece (it's florals with writing n German) and when I saw it, I just fell in love with it many years ago. Most of you said it would look better with more pictures on each side of it. Well, I've looked and looked and found these and I really like them - the prints and the shapes of the frames. What do you think?
Here's a little closer look, sorry about the glare. The large picture's frame is really not as dark as it looks here, it's more golden.
Here's the overall look again. I'm patting myself on the back too because of the blue pillows I poked on the sofa. I'm always a bit scared as to what colors or patterns to use on it. Well, I had these and thought, they're the same shade of blue as my draperies! Ding! Okie dokie!
One more little update. I had shown you The Finn above and my plates and again asked for advice. You said, another plate on top to make it less boxy! Well, while I was out poodling, I found another plate and I hung it up as quickly as I could. Do you see that there is no blue rim around the edge of the top plate like the others? Even more interesting. I really do just love y'all! ;)
Here's a silly little vignette on my table in front of the window. These little birds love to come out in the Fall.
The two vignettes above are the side tables on each side of my sofa. I look at these pictures and it looks like my vignettes are sitting on glass trays. They're not, the tops of these tables are beveled glass!
Well, that's a peep at the front part of my living room. With the color of my sofa and chairs, this room screams FALL! To me it feels much more cozy now with the addition of the plate and pictures. What do you think?
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Homeward Bound

I'm sittin' in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one-night stands my suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned for a poet and one-man band
Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting silently for me
Ev'ry day's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me, the movies and the factories
And ev'ry stranger's face I see reminds me that I long to be
Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting silently for me
Tonight I'll sing my songs again
I'll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony, I need someone to comfort me
Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting silently for me
Silently for me
~ sung by Simon and Garfunkel

  12. I love it, Sheila! I don't remember your rug but that's my crazy brain, it looks great. The plate above the others really finished it off, I didn't know putting one at the top would make such a difference. The look you cooked behind your sofa looks wonderful.

    Bravo!!!
    Nicely done, dear friend!!!
The prints on either side of your larger print are perfection!!!
I adore the addition of the white rimmed blue plate.
The elimination of a blue rim allows the plate to blend into the wall!!!

  17. Hi Shelia, love your fallin living room. All you touches are so pretty and the perfect fall style. Love your wall over the sofa with your arrangement. The plate wall is gorgeous too. Adding the touch of blue is such a nice compliment to the rusts and orange. Even your secretary topped with garland is beautiful. You have your home ready for the season. Love it. Be Blessed my friend. cm

  19. Hi Sheila, I just want you to know how much I love your blog. I started following you when I first began, and you never fail me, you have such a neat and tidy decorating style. I love it. I enjoy seeing you transform you new home into Sheila Style! You do a lovely job. And of course, you have the cousin hutch to my Aunt Carol hutch. Why, I think that makes us related in some sort of way. I guess it would be hutch cousins. . ! We have so many of the same interests. Sewing, crocheting, decorating, grandchildren-ing. . I like your posts on the doll clothes you make. I make little doll clothes also for my little granddaughters. Who, by the way are growing up, and will soon out grow playing with dolls. But, I think I will keep making the clothes. Just to close, thank you again for your inspiration. Hugs to a blogging friend, Karie

  22. Very cozy and inviting! I'm not a fan of any season except spring and summer but I am working on that! Just did my decorating outside -- then moving to the inside to warm things up! I do love the colors and making soups and stews and baking more so I'll try to focus on the positives, right!?
