Well, I walked into Walmart when we got back from our trip to England and almost slipped and fell when I saw the lovely colorful things with her cute little face all over the boxes.
There were dishes, bowls, glasses, a Charlie dog cookie jar, pots and pans and...A CAKE STAND!
I saw the box and grabbed it with both hands and was so excited! It looked so beautiful.
Then I found this darling little cow creamer. If you know me you know how I love my cow creamers. Oh, just darling! So I used these pieces and set up a little vignette in my kitchen.
I poked little faux apples onto the Jadeite looking base and popped the glass dome down. I even brought out my Jadeite biscuit jar to join it. My daughter saw this and I could tell by her eyes she would love to have this cake stand too. Did I give her mine you might ask? No, no, Nannette, I did not! ;) I would just go back to Walmart and buy her one. They cost $20. Went to this Walmart - no cake stand. Went to that Walmart - no cake stand. Found another Walmart - no cake stand! I was so frustrated. I got online and went to Walmart's site and the cake stand said "not available"! What? I had only bought mine the week before. I searched and searched to try and find out why there were no more cake stands. I found a review place online and a few folks were saying the cake stand was very bad quality! The stand was leaning and there were black specks in the glass dome. One said the stand fell apart into pieces when she sat it on her counter. Well, I went back to look at mine and it was just beautiful. No leaning, no falling apart!
So I wrote a review too and said basically what I have told you. I had bought the domed cake stand and it was beautiful. Went to buy my daughter one and couldn't find it. I was thinking they were pulled because maybe they weren't made well but wanted to know if they would be back in better shape and soon? I didn't think much about it anymore except I would go ahead and look when I would occasionally go back to a Walmart. Well, Dear Ones, I received an email:
Hi there!
I'm Ree's friend and helper, Morgan. Nice to meet ya!
Ree
wanted me to let you know she received your email. The recall does not
affect all cake stands. There was a large batch of them made that were
not structurally sound, and were breaking en route to Walmart or even in
the car after folks had purchased them. If your cake stand is not
broken, then it is totally fine. We are remanufacturing them to make
them stronger, so this issue does not occur again.
Hope this helps!
Morgan
Isn't that something? I felt so honored that anyone, let alone a person connected so closely to Ree, would respond to my review. So I guess my cake stand is just fine. I just wanted to share this with you in case you got one and it fell apart. It's too pretty and useful not to be fixed and be poked back on the shelves. One day my daughter will receive this lovely cake stand. Have you seen any of the products? I wanted almost every item I saw but I'll hold back and buy a little at a time! :)
I'm joining Dwellings for Amaze Me Monday
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
I can think of younger days when living for my life
Was everything a man could want to do
I could never see tomorrow,
But I was never told about the sorrow
I could never see tomorrow,
But I was never told about the sorrow
How can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
How can you mend a this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
How can you mend a this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again
I can still feel the breeze that rustles through the trees
And misty memories of days gone by
We could never see tomorrow,
No one said a word about the sorrow
And misty memories of days gone by
We could never see tomorrow,
No one said a word about the sorrow
And how can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
And how can you mend this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
And how can you mend this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again

I'll start with that song ... a favorite from a favorite group. Nobody like the Bee Gees. And that song, it is really poignant when you're dealing with a broken heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about the cake stand. It's lovely and I'm glad they're re-manufacturing them. My niece bought the salt and pepper shakers and the butter dish. They are soooo adorable!

I saw the line last week online. I always check reviews before purchasing much of anything unless it's really cheap. What she has is beautiful, but if I were her (and I imagine she's doing that), I would be making sure that something with my name on it was built to last. You know, she lives not far from here in a little town outside Tulsa.

I love your little vignette you made, so pretty! Those are wonderful pieces you bought from Walmart. I hope you get the cake stand for your daughter and nice they responded to you.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Your vignette is adorable!! When my daughter was getting married and setting up housekeeping, I bought 2 stands, one for cake and one smaller for a cupcake!! They were repros, but don't remember who made them, I also got the s&p shakers and a larger sugar shaker for her......she was thrilled and still loves Jadeite.....
ReplyDeleteI never shop at Walmart, but glad they responded to you.....
That little cow creamer is too sweet!!
ReplyDeleteShelia, I love your pretty kitchen things. I love that you got a good response from your email too. I absolutely loved the Bee-Gees....This is my favorite song of theirs. Thank you. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Love that gorgeous cake stand and that cute little cow creamer too! I always loved the Bee Gees, thanks for the song I haven't heard it in such a long time.
ReplyDeleteHugs sweetie,
FABBY
Love all of the pieces you showed us, Shelia (and I love The Pioneer Woman!). I was initially wondering if perhaps some people got a bad lot. Or maybe the box wasn't padded and sturdy. Still, it was so very nice of Ree's gal to contact you. And she is consumer savvy redoing the whole batch. Good people.
ReplyDeleteHope you get a cake plate for your daughter!
Janie x
I've heard about The Pioneer Woman's new products at Wal-Mart, but I have not had the opportunity to visit the store! I love cake stands!!! I can't wait to go back home and hit the first Wal-Mart store I see!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, I have not seen this line in Walmart and can't wait to look in my local store. How great you got a reply about the defect and that more are on the way. Your daughter will be so happy to receive hers. Glad yours is not falling apart. Love the cow creamer and your sweet vignette looks adorable in your kitchen. Love it. Thanks for the song. Blessings, cm
ReplyDeleteI saw those fabulous cake stands a few weeks ago at our Walmart and it took all my self-control not to buy one! I really don't have any room to display one, but if I did I would have bought it on the spot! All the other dishes and accessories are just beautiful, too. Enjoy your cake stand and welcome back from your jolly holiday!
ReplyDeleteThe vignette is so pretty, Shelia! I saw some of the collection yesterday, when we made a quick run through Walmart. The Man did not give me much time to look.....he doesn't think we need any more dishes & truly we don't, but still! The collection is just so pretty, bright and fun with color.
ReplyDeleteI did see some of her new items didn't see the cake stand, guess we know why now, thanks for telling us. I will be looking for one, very pretty indeed. May have to have the creamer too.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Sally. Gee, I was just there a couple of days ago but didn't head to home wares! I should have -- the cake stand is wonderful and the creamer adorable. And I don't even do cream! (But I DO do maple syrup!)
ReplyDeleteI love the Pioneer Woman's new collection. I have already bought 2 sets of the plates/bowls/saucers. One in the teal blue and the other in the gold/brown. I plan on adding the accent pieces as I go. The creamer is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCute cake stand. And glad to hear that you have a good one! Sheila
ReplyDeleteThanks
