I decided to make Marion this little playsuit. Isn't it sweet?
I used this pretty fabric, red, gray and white and added the tiny little red and white check for the accents. Red buttons down the front for some cuteness.
The red checked fabric was used for the puff sleeves and the little border at the ends of the legs.
Here's the pattern I used and you can see the playsuit at the top left. Now I've used this pattern before, a dress, and it fit her just fine. But I should have measured her from the shoulder to her straddle because it's a little tight. Good thing she's a doll because if she were a real little girl she would not be too comfy in this outfit I'm afraid. So I marked my pattern pieces in case I make this again to lengthen the straddle. That sounds funny doesn't it? 'The straddle' is what my mother always called this area so I do too!
We're through now, Marion. What? Oh, okay. She wants me to mention how pretty her hair looks combed into a side ponytail. What? Yes, darling, they all think your hair looks lovely! Dolls! What cha gonna do? :)
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you wih a little Note Song ~
She Lets Her Hair Down
She walks barefoot through the meadow early in the mornin'
Early in the mornin' ev'ry day
And she wakes up the sleepin' flowers early in the mornin'
Early in the mornin' on the way
And she lets her hair down when the sun comes up
Yes, she lets her hair down
And the morning glows bright with a newborn light
Yes, the morning glows bright
She goes walkin' past my window early in the mornin'
Early in the mornin' on the way
Some day I'll reach out and touch her early in the mornin'
Early in the mornin' one fine day
And I'll give her my love till the day I die
Yes, I'll give her my love
And the morning glows bright with a newborn light
Yes, the morning glows bright
She walks barefoot through the meadow early in the mornin'
Early in the mornin' ev'ry day
And the morning glows bright with a newborn light
Yes, the morning glows bright
And I'll give her my love till the day I die
Yes, I'll give her my love
And she lets her hair down when the sun comes up
Yes, she lets her hair down
And she lets her hair down when the sun comes up

Hello. Your outfit looks so sweet. I love the two fabrics you have chosen. The sandals are great too. The pattern you have used to make this sweet outfit is for the Daisy Kingdom Dolls and they are a bit shorter than the American Girl size dolls. That is probably why it is a bit snug. I am sure it is something you could adjust easy enough. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the little jumpsuit! The pattern and colors are sweet. Have a happy day!

ReplyDeleteOh Shelia,
ReplyDeleteThe little playsuit turned out great. Marion does look very sweet in it and of course her hair is just lovely. So much fun playing dolly dress-up. I'm playing today too. I'd love for you to come and visit if you have a chance.
Hugs and Kisses,
♥Ana
Adorable! I love the fabric you chose. It has a vintage vibe to it, and Marion looks pretty cute even if she can't lift her arms over her head. hehe
ReplyDeleteMarion's outfit is so cute! Is that a new pattern or an older one? I think I still have the doll that models the outfits on the pattern. I'll have to check - I may have passed her one quite a few years ago. I hope not. It would be fun to make outfits for her for time my little grandgirls are here! You are such an inspiration, my friend. Perhaps soon I can get back to my sewing room!

It turned out very nicely! Now, what grade is she in and did she start school yet? :) If her straddle is tight just don't wear that outfit to school on gym day! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia,
ReplyDeleteThe little outfit makes me smile.....so delightful.
You have to stop this.....you are making me want to dig out my sewing machine again. Ha.
Happy day!
