Hello, Dear Ones! Yes, I've missed you so much! If you've been wondering why I haven't responded to all your comments to me (I know I'm a silly, but I really do try to respond to every comment you leave me) it's because I've been out of the country! On September 4th, Mr. Precious and I took the train to New York City to take our second transatlantic crossing to jolly ole England on the Queen Mary 2! We've been gone almost the entire month of September! Can't believe it. Well, for my next few posts I'll share our trip with you and hope you'll come along. Before I start, I've learned of two friends who have passed away while I was gone and my sweet sweet blogging friend, Ceekay, who blogged at Thinkin' of Home. She had been battling cancer for many years and fought with all of her might. She was a strong Christian and I know she's in heaven. Pray for her family.
Okay, I don't want to be sad so hop in the taxi with Mr. Precious and me and here we go...
This was on our way to the I can't believe we were taking this
Anyway, it's a magnificent vessel.
We climbed up to the top so we could watch as we left the city! Just incredible views!
The LADY!
Let Freedom Ring!
This was a bit scary as I was wondering if the LINER would make it under the bottom of the bridge. It did but just barely! Wow, I was looking for cover.A nice passenger snapped up a photo of us.
We were able to watch the Pilot boat come and do it's business. Did you know that each huge ship has this little boat come up along side the ship and a captain from the boat will hop aboard the cruise ship and maneuver it onboard and commands the ship while leaving the dock until the ship reaches the boundaries. At this point, the pilot boat captian hops back on to the little boat and the ship's captain takes command once again. Pretty exciting to watch.
Here's a few snaps of the inside.
This is a collage I made almost six years ago to show lots of the most famous ones who sailed on the Queen Mary. Now just so you'll know, this is a more subdued
Always have to have a bite to eat.
Mr. Precious is a dedicated runner and I had to snap him doing one of his favorite things.
But the most fantastic thing about this crossing for me was Crosby, Stills and Nash performed three times for us! Woo Hoo! I loved it. You all know how I love my rock and roll and these grandpas could still sing and did an incredible job. Lord, have mercy, I should have been a hippy! :)
Hope you'll keep traveling with me as I have a Downton Abbey story to tell you.
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
It's getting to the point where I'm no fun anymore
I am sorry
Sometimes it hurts so badly I must cry out loud
I am lonely
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are
You make it hard
Remember what we've said and done and felt about each other
Oh, babe have mercy
Don't let the past remind us of what we are not now
I am not dreaming
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are
You make it hard
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Tearing yourself away from me now you are free
And I am crying
This does not mean I don't love you I do that's forever
Yes and for always
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are
You make it hard
Something inside is telling me that I've got your secret
Are you still listening?
Fear is the lock and laughter the key to your heart
And I love you
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are
You make it hard
And you make it hard
And you make it hard
And you make it hard
Friday evening
Sunday in the afternoon
What have you got to lose?
Tuesday morning
Please be gone I'm tired of you
What have you got to lose?
Can I tell it like it is? (Help me I'm sufferin')
Listen to me baby
It's my heart that's a sufferin' it's a dyin' (Help me I'm dyin')
And that's what I have to lose (To lose)
I've got an answer
I'm going to fly away
What have I got to lose?
Will you come see me
Thursdays and Saturdays?
What have you got to lose?
Chestnut brown canary
Ruby throated sparrow
Sing a song, don't be long
Thrill me to the marrow
Voices of the angels
Ring around the moonlight
Asking me said she so free
How can you catch the sparrow?
Lacy lilting lady
Losing love lamenting
Change my life, make it right
Be my lady
Doo doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo
~ sung by Crosby, Stills and Nash

Thanks for sharing this wonderful trip. I have never been on a cruise (or a crossing). I have alot of fears:) Please tell me, how was the trip? Was it rocky? The ship is gorgeous!!! So glad you had a great trip!! You were missed!
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Susan Branch's book ~ A Fine Romance. It is about her second trip across the pond on the Queen Mary 2. I have been enjoying her book so much and told David we need to make this voyage too. Now that I have read this post about your own crossing, I am more convinced than ever that we need to do this. Oh, and to be in England once again and the icing on the cake was Crosby, Stills and Nash. Love, love, love them!!! Can't wait to here more about your adventures.
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
What a fabulous trip you've had Shelia! I've never been on an ocean liner or even a cruise ship so this one must be so beautiful and a grand way to cross the Atlantic. And how great to have Crosby Stills and Nash performing for the guests! Thanks for sharing and I hope I see your other posts about your trip. Take care.
ReplyDeletePam
What a wonderful, wonderful trip! We were priviledged to see that beautiful ship in LA several years ago when we were in California. So glad you had a great time. You've been missed.
ReplyDeleteJudy
Lucky you!! How exciting :-) it's a gorgeous ship. That's how I'd like to get over to Europe- just haven't gotten hubby on board with the idea. I love Crosby, Stills and Nash. I didn't know that they were active together these days. Can't wait to see more pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such an exciting adventure. I think it would be so fun to cross the ocean in a huge liner.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures.
How wonderful for you both. I'm looking forward to seeing a little more of your trip.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you had such a great time Shelia!!!! What a beautiful Liner the QM2 is!!!! I only wish that I had known you were coming! I do hope that it was all wonderful for you and that England welcomed you with open arms! xx
ReplyDeleteWow!!! What fun!!! Beautiful pictures and can't wait to read more about your crossing and stay in London!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's spectacular and you look born to sail upon it! I had brunch on the QM2 once -- a wedding reception. It was divine. But oh, to be on it and sail. Now that's my idea of taking a great way to England! Have a jolly good time! Or rather, hope you did -- it sounds like it. And I can't wait to hear more!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear about your travels. Everything looks amazing and fun. What a treasure of a trip. Glad you are back home safely and look forward to your posts. Prayers for the families that are struggling right now.
