Look at this snap and then I want to show you how it looked when we bought the house.
See that 1980s wallpaper? Well, it was a complete booger and did not want to come off the walls. Our painter brought some stuff and sprayed on it and tried again to get it off. It was stuck! Needless to say, he continued to work on the other rooms and then cam back to this one last. The mirror was old and lots of the mirroring was coming off around the edges and the hollywood lights over the mirror were just too bright!
After the wallpaper finally was all gone, the room was painted Biscuit by Sherwin Williams. Most of the rooms are painted this nice yummy color. All of the doors, window trims and baseboards were just wood and dark so that got a good white washing. We don't get a lot of natural sunlight inside because we have so so many trees. We needed to make the inside as bright as we could.
We took the large damaged mirror down and bought this cute little round one from Lowes. I think it fits the space so much better.
This is a horrible snap and I tried to fix it better for you to see, so excuse it, but...you can see the mirror and the beveled edge and the new light fixture we bought also from Lowes. The owners had put in this cute little faucet and we left it.
Also the vanity was nice as well as the cabinet top with the sink included in the cut.I know, I'm not really good at decorating bathrooms. I kinda go simple so it's easy to clean. I probably need something like a little shelf to hang under the red wreath. Suggestions?
The little curtains were used in my old kitchen in our Texas home and the plates just go so well with them, they were poked up on the wall. They were in the kitchen too! ;) I just love red and have to have some around me and since this is the most visited bathroom I get to see my red a lot! :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
Lady In Red
I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright
I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
They're looking for a little romance, give'em half a chance
And I've never seen that dress you're wearing
Or that highlights in your hair that catch your eyes, I have been blind
I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
They're looking for a little romance, give'em half a chance
And I've never seen that dress you're wearing
Or that highlights in your hair that catch your eyes, I have been blind
The lady in red is dancing with me cheek to cheek
There's nobody here, it's just you and me, it's where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight
There's nobody here, it's just you and me, it's where I wanna be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight
I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing
I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled it took my breath away
And I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing
I've never seen so many people want to be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled it took my breath away
And I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight
The lady in red is dancing with me cheek to cheek
There's nobody here, it's just you and me, it's where I wanna be
Well I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight
There's nobody here, it's just you and me, it's where I wanna be
Well I hardly know this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight
I never will forget the way you look tonight
The lady in red, my lady in red
My lady in red, my lady in red
I love you
The lady in red, my lady in red
My lady in red, my lady in red
I love you

It is very pretty! Much nicer than our one! I like to keep things simple in bathrooms too. The red goes very nicely with everything and I much prefer your mirror and light choices! xx

ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathleen, I'll be on the lookout for one! Thanks for popping in to see me.

The vanity is in great condition, dear friend!!!
The biggest change, other than the wall paper, is that fabulous round mirror!!!
I adore your red plates!!!

It came together beautifully Shelia, I love the pops of red! The mirror looks much better, and I never would have thought to put plates in a bathroom, but I love it!!

ReplyDeleteThis thing ate my comment again! I just said God bless your painter for his perseverance. I like your new mirror and light, and yes a red shelf would be cute. You know me though -- I would probably paint that cabinet red too!

ReplyDeleteA great transformation....I love the colors and pattern in the room...It is not so teeny...mine is teenier!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Shelia, your powder room is wonderful....so fresh and lively with the pops of red.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job. Getting wallpaper down is awful, isn't it? No more wallpaper for me. Yikes.
Barb ♥
Hi there! I'm happy to see some of your red from the old house. I loved it there and now in the small bathroom. Bathrooms are hard because they are teeny. I think what you did is just right.
ReplyDeleteIt's charming! Love the warm and cozy red accents!
ReplyDeleteJust the other day I was reading about the drought in California and some people being out of running water...it kind of puts things into perspective. You have a lovely home and spare bath, it's lovely and it's a blessing and your photos are fine ! :)
Love the new look Sheila. Nice and cheerful. I have those red plates on the wall. I loved red, so seeing it here is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty. Love the red.
ReplyDeleteShelia, what a wonderful new look! I love the bright reds and oh my, the plates on the wall just make such a beautiful statement! You did great, love it all!

I love it Shelia! I used red in my hall bath too, makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteI like the improvements you made on this room. The mirror looks great- I like that better than the traditional large mirror. I agree making the walls bright is a good idea. I wonder if it was something in the wallpaper from the 80's that made it so hard to get off. I had an awful time with mine in the bathroom and swore I'd never put wallpaper up again after getting it off. The red curtains look cute in there. Maybe a decorative white wood wall shelf unit would be cute on the wall above the commode.
ReplyDeleteOh this powder room is just so lovely! That fabric is very similar to what I have in my living room/dining room areas...love the colors. I also saw those very dishes on facebook just the other day and shared them to my page, saying that I needed them...REAL BAD :) Another great transformation!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love that color red! ~ Donna
ReplyDeleteI love the red curtains Sheila! They just make the whole space happy. The plates do go so well with them.
ReplyDeleteIt's not tiny at all...very spacious...you should see ours; no better not!!! I love how you are using the curtains from the old house, and making this bathroom look so fresh and bright!
ReplyDeleteLove it all Sheila and I think the red is the color! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference. I shiver just thinking of removing old wallpaper as we've done it many times! Your bathroom turned out very very nice. Love the mirror and new light fixture.
ReplyDeleteJeannette
You really did an awesome job bringing that cute little powder room into the 2000s, doll! It's light and bright and looks fabulous. Well done.
ReplyDeleteIf you choose to hang a shelf, don't forget to hang it high enough that a tall person won't hit his/her head when "thinking" while "sitting."
Also, those nice racks that go from floor to high up are nice for storage (even celaning supplies and extgra tissue) and can look really nice. There are some nice wooden ones out there. Hugs.
That's an amazing transformation with just some paint and decor. I had flashbacks looking at the before LOL
ReplyDeleteI feel for the painter that had to remove that wallpaper. Yikes.
Anyway, I love it :)
xo
Your powder room looks BEAUTIFUL now!!! I love, LOVE the red! That fabric is so pretty and the plates are perfect. A shelf would be real nice. XO
