Midweek with Marion

Hello, Dear Ones and welcome to Midweek with Marion. Well, today's post is a tad different. It's not just about Marion but we have another doll who is in need of clothes. Oh, wait! Marion has a sign for you to see.
 Can you read it?
There you go! Marion was so excited to make the sign all by herself for you all to see! She would like to introduce you to Babbette...
There she is! Little Babbette is a Bitty Baby from the American Girl Dolls. There is a story why Babbette has come to live with me, well, until Christmas and she will belong to Carter my little granddaughter. Okay, sit back and I'll tell you the story. A neighbor was getting rid of some of her daughter's dolls and Babbette was one of those. So I bought the doll, a bed and a little baby swing. She had on a little dress that looked like Dorothy's from the Wizard of Oz. So...now I'll be making Babbette some new clothes. She's happy to stay with me until Christmas time. Hey, she's a girl and she'll be getting new clothes. Marion is ecstatic! Okie dokie...on with the show.
I took Babbette with me on one of our little RVing trips and crocheted her a little dress. I used yellow yarn with a soft blue yarn for the edging. Do you like it? Babbette does.
It has a double crocheted yoke and the skirt part is crocheted with a shell pattern. It was an easy dress to make.
Babbette is looking a little bit sleepy and I have to remember she needs her naps! So bear with me as I make a few new outfits for little Babbette. She needs to go to Carter's house with a new wardrobe as well as Marion. Hey, I may even make some matching outfits. You know I'm so talented like that! :)

Here is where you can find the pattern for the dress. I believe it was intended for a little preemie but works for Babbette just fine. Now pop on over to my friend Diane's blog Welcome To Lavender Dreams for all of her dollying.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Yellow Bird

Yellow bird, up high in banana tree
Yellow bird, you sit all alone like me

Did your lady friend leave the nest again?
That is very sad, makes me feel so bad
You can fly away, in the sky away
You're more lucky than me

I also had a pretty girl, she's not with me today
They're all the same those pretty girls
Take tenderness, then they fly away
Yellow bird, yellow bird

Did your lady friend leave the nest again?
That is very sad, makes me feel so bad
You can fly away, in the sky away
You're more lucky than me

Wish that I were a yellow bird, I'd fly away with you
But I am not a yellow bird, so here I sit
Nothing I can do
Yellow bird, yellow bird

~ sung by The Mills Brothers

  15. I love Midweek with Marion, and it was a pleasure to meet Babette! I love her crocheted dress, in my favorite color. I have an antique doll bed, and I think a little girl like Babette would be very happy there in my sunroom, for my nieces to play with. You have truly inspired me Shelia.

  17. At the end of the day, I wonder just who will have had more fun with Marion and Babette -- you or Carter! The little crocheted dress is adorable, just adorable. I hadn't thought about bringing needlework on a road trip, but that would be a good way to pass the time on the open road.

  20. Oh Marion is so sweet to want some clothes for little Babbette - and I think matching outfits would be just perfect. What fun to sew for both dolls - and then the surprise at christmas time of a gift of dolls and wardrobes. I love the little crocheted dress - it is just perfect. I didn't get a doll post up this week - sometimes life gets in the way of fun - I'll try and have one up for next week.

  24. Babbette looks lovely in her crocheted little dress. How lucky to find Babbette and a bed and a baby swing for her. Marion looks lovely in her sweet little yellow checked dress too. I have a grand daughter due Christmas week, I can't wait to start buying her sweet little dolls and making clothes for her. I found a Journey doll and a Madame Alexander doll while out thrifting last week. They will be perfect for fitting clothes for my future grand daughter's dolls.

I do hope you can stop by to visit my blog in the next day or so and leave a comment, I am celebrating my second blog anniversary with a fall table linens give-away and the winner will be announced Thursday on my August 20th tablescape post. Have a wonderful afternoon..... Candy
