The Farmer in the Dell

Hello, Dear Ones. I've set up a little tray on the sunporch for you today.
I found this darling little set a few months back and just fell in love with it and wanted to share it with you today. You can see the farmer in the dell and his wife.
First of all I'd like to show you the tall pitcher. I'm supposing sweet tea could be in this. Or milk. Or maybe coffee if you drank it really fast before it got cold. I wanted to show you the front with the farmer couple and the the back. These pieces all seem to be hand painted and they are pretty olden too.
Now the darling tea pot with the same images on front and back.
Now this little cup or vase was with the set. It looks like a toothbrush holder to me but I don't think it would be part of a kitchen set if it was. So I think I could poke in some pretty little flowers, don't you? Notice the cute little hand painted yard bird? She's on each piece too.
The last items of this little salt are the salt and pepper, um, salt shakers. I guess the lady who decided she didn't want these any more must have liked salt a lot more than she liked pepper! Of course the pepper shaker would have had the little Mrs. Farmer painted on it.

Cute little things to play with! Hope you all have had a good week.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

The Farmer in the Dell (you know you love this little ditty)

The farmer in the dell
The farmer in the dell
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The farmer in the dell

And the farmer takes a wife
The farmer takes a wife
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The farmer takes a wife

And the wife takes the child
The wife takes the child
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The wife takes the child

And the child takes the nurse
The child takes the nurse
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The child takes the nurse

And the nurse takes the dog
The nurse takes the dog
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The nurse takes the dog

And the dog takes the cat
The dog takes the cat
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The dog takes the cat

And the cat takes the mouse
The cat takes the mouse
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The cat takes the mouse

And the mouse takes the cheese
The mouse takes the cheese
Hi-ho, the derry-o
The mouse takes the cheese

And the cheese stands alone
The cheese stands alone
Hi-ho, the derry-o

The cheese stands alone

  16. That's a vry unique set for sure.

I love how you called the hen a "yard bird." I thought your song would be frim The Yardbirds lol.

Not sure what that small cup thing would be - but it is the perfect height to hold honey sticks - have you ever seen those? They're little clear plastic "straws" that are pro crimped on each end and in the stick is honey - simply snip an end and voila - the perfect tablespoon of sweetener for your tea or toast. : - )

One last thing: I always thought the song was "High-ho the DAIRY- oh" being about a farm. Huh, guess not?

    Nice treasure, S - hugs - have a great weekend. ♥

  20. The pattern is "American Provincial" by Homer Laughlin. But I think "farmer in the dell" is a better name!
