Still Working In The Living Room

Hello Dear Ones. Well, I'm still in the living room doing stuff! Today I wanted to concentrate on The Finn.
I decided to flank The Finn with my two wing back chairs and work on the wall around it.
The rug helps ground this area and also makes a soft place for my tootsies to land. I don't know if I've told you or you may not care but the wall color in here is Biscuit by Sherwin Williams. It's a nice and soft color and every other color looks good with it. We used this color in the dining room, entry, master bedroom, bathrooms and upstairs hall.
As I've told you before, I'm bringing more blues into the house. I used to use a lot of blue in my decorating years ago and this house just seems to scream BLUE! So I aim to please! I hung some  plates on the wall over The Finn. I bought those blue and white dishes about 3 years ago at Marshalls thinking I would use them on a bedroom wall. Never did and now I know why I bought them. I was to use them in this house!
I got busy and made a flower arrangement as you can see. It's probably too large for The Finn but it's going to stay for a while. See the blue and white container the flowers are in? I bought this over 20 years ago at Garden Ridge and had an ivy in it. When we moved up here the ivy bit the dust but I kept my planter. You know how everything has a story! :)

I love the springy happy colors of the flowers and reminds me Spring is here although it doesn't quite feel like it yet! :)

I poked down this teeny little pair of Staffys. How I love my tiny little dogs.
There's a tiny little shelf below the mirror on The Finn and I placed this little blue and white couple and of course they both have a Rooster! :)
Now here is where I need your help. Should I look for some more dishes to hang above the platter? Is this arrangement just too boxy? Or maybe I should hang just one more on each side? You know how I value your opinion.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Blue Bayou

I feel so bad I got a worried mind
I'm so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind
On Blue Bayou

Saving nickles, saving dimes
Working 'til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou

I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be

Gonna see my baby again
Gonna be with some of my friends
Maybe I'll feel better again
On Blue Bayou

Saving nickles, saving dimes
Working 'til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou

I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be

Oh, that boy of mine
By my side
The silver moon
And the evening tide
Oh, some sweet day
Gonna take away
This hurting inside
Well I'll never be blue
My dreams come true
On Blue Bayou

  7. Shelia, everything looks lovely! Your blue and white transferware is stunning. If you have more, I would place a piece on each side to the left and right of the two you have there now-- Of course it looks lovely the way it is! Have a lovely weekend! ♥

  8. Oh, that piece of furniture is stunning! The blue and white plates look wonderful. I too would put a plate on either side maybe and see how it looked. It really looks pretty in there!

  10. Hi Shelia, I was wondering if you were back from your little break. Walla, yes you are. Your decorating is lovely in every way. The flowers look very pretty and the blue dishes are too. They set the Finn off so nice. I think I would place a small blue plate on each end or not. It looks great just the way you have decorated with your pretty dogs and flowers. The wall color is perfect.

    Happy Pink Saturday,
    Love, Jeanne

  11. Shelia...this is beautiful and I love the Finn! Plates on the wall are always winners...and we can do them in so many ways.

Now...the color you have on the walls...it looks perfect...Biscuit by SW. Is it a beige? Light cream? Any gray in it? Peachy or pink? Ha! I'm getting ready to do a den and family room and I'm looking for a soft creamy color. This looks so great! Let me know, please!

  13. This looks wonderful. Love the arrangement you put together and the blue and white planter its in along with the adorable Staff. Dogs. I think you did a perfect job with the plates. It reflects the shape of the Finn and feels right to me. I might lower the two pictures so they're a different height than the plates. I know spring must seem slow to you compared to where you came from but once the trees are leafed out and the plants are filled out it will be great!

  15. I love, love, love The Finn. And you know what else I love (and it goes to one of my pet peeves). I love your chairs. My pet peeve is these days they seem to create furniture for mega-houses and it's all too big for mine. A wing back chair about that size is as large as I can go. I don't need/can't use one of those super-size-me chairs that is almost as wide as a love seat! Those are perfect! Looking lovely, Shelia!

  16. Oh- I love the arrangement with the Finn keeping company with the chairs. Perfect.
If it were me I would probably look for one LARGE platter or something and center it right above the top row in the middle (so it would hang over the middle one and go sideways to go as far as the ones that flank it, too). Oh- did that make ANY sense? lol

    Just beautiful!!!! xo Diana

  17. Gorgeous. I love how this room is coming together. I think I would hang one more above the platter, then everything wouldn't be in such a straight line with the pictures on the sides. Just my thought.

  18. Don't change or add a thing. I think it looks awesome as is. It's busy but not overly so - any addition may be too much for one's eyes. (All my humble opinion, of course - but do as you care to do, you have a great eye!)

    Hugs.

  19. It looks great to me the way it is. I am not a decorator, you are & a good one, so if you think it needs another piece you should add another piece. Not much good at advice as you can see.lol

  22. Very pretty, Shelia! I love the plates. These look fine as it is, but I think if you wanted to you could go up another row. Who knows, you may find some more blue and white dishes and this would be the perfect spot for them.

  23. Hi Shelia, This setting is just gorgeous. I love your arrangement and everything is perfect just like it is. The blue and white is beautiful with your wonderful furniture piece. I've added back my blue and white this season too and really loving it after a little break using other dishes.
You always inspire with your vignettes and this is extra special.
Enjoy and have a wonderful new week my friend.

  26. I'm looking for blue cushions and throw to go in my bedroom at the moment, presently I have brown but both colours go with the bedspread colour. Love your blue and white just as it is but I'm not terribly good at decorating and you have a knack so go with your gut :)
