Crocheted Tea Cozy

Hello, Dear Ones! Today I'm continuing to show you more crocheted things I've made in the past few weeks. Don't we all love to have a nice cup of tea? I know I do. I have so many tea pots but I've never had a tea cozy so I thought I would remedy that.
Yarn plus a crochet hook equals a tea cozy! Ain't she purdy?
I have a book called Cute and Easy Crochet by Nicki Trench and had been eyeballing this tea cozy for years so I thought I'd just get to it and make me one.
I just used the yarn I had on hand and the yarn I used for the cozy part was a different weight than called for in the pattern so I had to embellish a little. I added some extra double crochets to the spout and handle side and I made it fit my little fat tea pot with some tweaking. I know you wanted to know all of that. :)
One thing that makes this little tea cozy so cute is all of the roses on top! Now if I can do something quicker, easier, I've been known to do this, I will. There was a pattern for the roses but I chose to make my easy peasy way of making a crocheted rose. If you crochet and want to make a quick rose - just  crochet a chain as long as you'd like, usually around 30 - 35 chains for these little ones, then double crochet in each chain. The piece will begin to curl as you double crochet. I leave a long yarn tail when I end off and take a large eyed tapestry needle and work the long tail through the ends of the rolled up rose to hold it together. That's it and so easy.
I crocheted two million gazillion little roses and started to sew them down. Then I thought it needed a few more...on and on I go! :)
So there you have it - my cutesy little rosy crocheted tea cozy.
Thanks for popping in to see me today and hope you've enjoyed seeing my little cozy.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

The Days of Wine and Roses

The days of wine and roses laugh and run away like a child at play
Through a meadow land toward a closing door
A door marked "nevermore" that wasn't there before

The lonely night discloses just a passing breeze filled with memories
Of the golden smile that introduced me to
The days of wine and roses and you

  5. That is so cute. I can do a bit of crocheting. My mom showed me how to make a ripple stitch and granny square so that is what I've done the most of. Now I am trying to learn other stitches and how to read directions and make it look right :) I finished stitching a little granny square blanket together for the baby grand and now am stitching together big squares for the oldest grand :)

  9. Hi Shelia, Your tea cozy is the cutest sweetie ever!! I love it with all the pretty colorful roses you created for the top. I am certainly going to try the roses you shared how to crochet in your own pattern. Let's call them, Shelia's crocheted tea roses!!! Your tea pot looks like it could be a blue and white sort of willow style. I have one too and love it. Thanks for sharing and have a beautiful week.
    Hugs and Blessings, CM

  13. I LOVE it! It's such a sweet, pretty tea cozy. And I love the explanation for making roses. I would do simple, too. I'm always amazed how you have the perfect song for each post. You are a veritable song book, dear friend. I have a young friend at church who believes I know every hymn and gospel song that was ever written - he calls me a gospel jukebox! Perhaps you are a jukebox, too! I believe that's true!

  14. Wish I had your ability with the hook! You do make some lovely things. This post made me smile bringing me back to a time when my daughter was around 4. I found her one day trying on a few of my tea cozies on her head! lol
    Have a nice week!
