Bye Bye January

Hello, Dear Ones and can you believe January is coming to her end? Man, what a month for me.
Anyway, I thought I would show you what's been on my January mantel since it's all going away probably today...
A little background so you won't think I'm totally bonkers! Lots of folks around here keep their Christmas lights up outside, yep, they're still there. Now our lights are all gone and put away mind you, but lots of the neighbors seem to have forgotten Christmas is over. I'm thinking it's maybe because of all of the lovely snow that stays and stays. Anyway...I felt I could have a Christmasy, sort of, display on my mantel for January.
Now if you know me, you know I love little Glitter houses and after Christmas was over I just couldn't seem to put them all away. So what was I to do?
Poke the ones screaming, "I don't look so much like Christmas, do I?" up here on the mantel to enjoy their precious glitterness a little while longer.
Of course my confectionary trees had to take center stage.
The glitterness continued all across my mantel. I have loved looking up here and seeing the wintry look but it's time to change it all up.
I took three snaps and combined them just so you could see the entire mantel, sort of, all together.
But darlings, it's cold outside so we lit a fire. You're probably wondering why my little stacking doll is sitting on the hearth. Well, wonder no more...
We've been babysitting our little Campie. Can't you tell how happy Mr. Precious is? We love this little man so much! He has the sweetest personality and just loves blueberries! :) He goes to the fridge points and says."ooo! ooo!" :) So the undecorating may have to wait a bit longer I guess. Thanks for popping in to see me.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

January

January, sick and tired
You've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go

January, don't be cold
Don't be angry to me
You make me sad
Come and see, oh January
Don't go, don't go

Life gets me higher
I can show, I can go
I can wake up the world
Little world
Gotta know you, gotta show you

Sun, like a fire
Carry on, don't be gone
Bring me out of my home
Sweet home
Gotta know me, gotta show me

You've been facing the world
You've been chasing the world

January, sick and tired
You've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go

January, don't be cold
Don't be angry to me
You make me sad
Come and see, oh January
Don't go, don't go

Time, it's a flier
Sunny days fly away
English summers are gone
So long
Gotta go up, gotta grow up

Sun, like a fire
Carry on, don't be gone
Bring me out of my home
Sweet home
Gotta know me, gotta show me

You've been facing the world
You've been chasing the world

January, sick and tired
You've been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You're telling me lies
Don't go, don't go

January, don't be cold
Don't be angry to me
You make me sad
Come and see, oh January
Don't go, don't go

Crocheted Egg Cozies

Hello, Dear Ones! I promised I would show you some of the things I've crocheted as I was recooping.
Feast your most gorgeous peepers on these darling little egg cozies.
Aren't these just darling? I've been wanting to make these for years and just never took the time so I grabbed my tiny little crochet hook and grabbed a bunch of cotton thread and went to town.
Now wouldn't this make you smile to wake up one morning and see these sweet little girls keeping your soft boiled eggs warm? They are going to make me smile for sure.
Let's get up close and personal to these little ladies. Each one is a little bit different from the others.
Each little lady has her own individual hat and collar and even crocheted buttons on the front of her dress.
This one has naturally curly hair and has her little head tilted just a bit. Not that I sewed it on crooked or anything! :)
This little lady is very affectionate and wants to kiss everyone.
The sun was shining brightly through the kitchen window and the girls wanted to line up so you could see their little hats better.

Here are their sweet faces again. I have to admit, these little  puppies egg cozies took me quite a while to make since they were made with the cotton thread and all. After the pieces were crocheted, I stuffed them, embroidered their features and then sewed them together. Oh, and actually these are called egg warmers according to the instructions.

If you're interested in the pattern this is the book where it came from. I so don't want to infringe upon a copyright or anything so I won't put the pattern in my post. This book was published in 1995 ~ I've had it for a long time.
Here's the little egg cozies/warmers in the book. I didn't add eyebrows or noses because I didn't think they looked too cute.
Okie dokie, sit right down and have your egg - our little gal has kept it nice and warm for you. Oh, you may not want to try this egg as it's not edible! :) Don't you just love faux stuff?

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

Little Egg

Once there was a little egg, that sat upon a wall.
Soon he started to wobble, then he started to fall.
He cried out for help, as down, down, he fell.
I grabbed him in my hand, so he didn’t crack his shell. But later, when he thought his troubles were at an end,
My mother cracked him in a bowl, I watched him drop right in.
This story has a sad end, for the little egg any way.
But as for my family, he brightened up our day!

No Peeping Toms!

Hello, Dear Ones! I know I told you I would show you the crocheted things I've been making but I just haven't taken any snaps of them yet so I'll show you something else that I've been up to.

Okie dokie! That's right, I don't want no pepping toms around here! This bay window in the kitchen was rather nekked (that's transplanted Texan for naked) with just little ruffled valances. Now that it's winter, all the leaves from the trees are gone and...there could be peeping toms!
We're not too close to our neighbors behind us but at night if their lights are on I can see them walking around and if I can see them without even trying ~ gasp! they can see me too!
I went to town fixin' the situation. My daughter gave me some sheers she had and I chopped them up to fit the bottom half of the bay. The light still comes in beautifully and as you can tell from these first few snaps, it's hard to get a good picture with the light.
Now that I had the sheers up the next thing to do was decorate the window sill. I love this little place to play.
If you visit me often you'll recognize my decor items here.
These two urns with the topiaries used to sit on my mantel in Texas at different times. Thought I'd poke them down here.
Then my favorite yard bird. He's so handsome and can you see the smile on his little face?
Okay now for the test because it's dark outside now. These are sheers and I know if someone were standing right outside the kitchen window they could see inside but from across the woods I think we're okay. I don't believe we'll have any peeping toms.
Whew! I get scared when I think of peeping toms!
Here you can see the little design on the sheers. I believe my daughter got these from Walmart. I just measured and cut them up to fit these windows. Don't look too closely as they're not sewn perfectly but I don't care. Zero dollars to fix my dilemma of peeping toms!
Okay, I do believe any peeping toms will move on down to the next house don't you? We sure don't want no peeping toms around here!
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Every Move You Make

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you

O can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Tomorrow

Hello, Dear Ones! Again, thank you for all your kind words about the passing of our little Chloe Dawn. Each day gets a little bit easier so I thought I would spiff up the top of my piano. I love the look of the lid up on my baby grand but it just get too dusty inside so with the lid down, I have a surface to poke stuff on!
I kept my grandmother's olden lace tablecloth here and poked down my tried and true floral that always seems to make its way back to my piano. Kinda like the old 70s song "Me and Mrs. Jones". Anyway...I'm getting off subject.

I just love these kinds of little couple figurines and thought they would look so cute perched up here.
This little couple is going out for a stroll and I thought they would look sweet under a cloche.
There is nothing like a romantic carriage ride and this little guy is being a perfect little gentleman. Don't you love the little lady's hair doo? I'm growing mine out so I can try to pop it on top of my head too.
My last little couple is just resting in the sunshine, speaking of their love for each other and planning their tomorrows.  Just what I'm thinking about too - tomorrows.
Hope you've enjoyed seeing my little piano top vignette. I'm so thankful for today and blessed thinking about my tomorrows.
Mr. Precious took these snaps of our little Chloe Dawns pawprints the day she went to heaven. As the snow has begun to melt, her little tracks are gone. I do believe God is saying, we don't live in the past we live for today and look forward to all of our tomorrows. He leaves us with precious memories but with anticipated hope for tomorrow!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

Tomorrow

The sun will come out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
there'll be sun
Just thinkin' about tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow 'til there's none
When I'm stuck with a day that's grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin and grin and say, oh
The sun will come out tomorrow
So you gotta hang on
'til tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away!
When I'm stuck with a day that's grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin and grin and say oh
The sun will come out tomorrow
So you got to hang on 'til tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow
You're always a day away
Tomorrow, tomorrow I love you tomorrow
You're always a day away ...

Thank You From My Heart

Oh, Dear Ones, I want to thank you all who left such sweet and loving comments and sent me emails about the passing of my little Chloe Dawn. Most of you know the pain in your heart that's felt from loosing one of our sweet little pets. I've cried, even screamed once, until I didn't think I had any more tears left and then in a little while, there they were - the tears. I still feel she's with me. Every time I leave the house, I think I must put Chloe Dawn in her room! I even hear for just a faint moment her little toe nails walking across the wood floors. And, when I go to bed at night I just automatically go into the living room where she would lay on our new rug, to pick her up and carry her up the stairs to bed as I did each night. Some of you may say, it's just a dog, so grow up! Well, all of us 'pet' parents know our little animals are much more than that - they really are our little children. I think I've aged about 8 years when I look at myself in the mirror.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know how very much I appreciate you all. You're my family, you really are. I've been trying to keep myself busy...been crocheting until my arm hurts. Counting stitches helps me keep my mind busy. Any way, I'll be back soon (with lots of crocheted items to show you) and hopefully I won't be so sad. I do have all of the sweetest memories of my little black fuzzy faced girl that will stay with me forever.

Seems my heart has lost it's song for the moment but you'll always be my sweeties,
Shelia :)

My Sweet Chloe Dawn Has Gone to Heaven

Dear Ones, my heart is breaking as our little darling Chloe Dawn went to heaven this afternoon. She was 14 1/2 years old and we saw her going down hill very rapidly the last couple of months. I don't know if I can make it, I know I can, but right now my heart says I can't. How I loved this little fuzzy faced girl. She was the most wonderful little dog with the sweetest and cutest personality.

I haven't told you, but a couple of lumps were found in my breast and this morning I went for a biopsy. I'm okay, they are lipomas. I have those all over my body but didn't realize they could show up in your breasts. Well, when we got home we knew Chloe Dawn's little life was almost over.
We took turns holding her and loving her but I couldn't physically and especially emotionally go with Mr. Precious to the vet so our daughter went with him.
She was struggling so to breath and before they could put her to sleep, she stopped breathing.
Oh, I'm so broken hearted right now. My baby is gone.
She has been such a joy to us for so many years.

Rest in complete peace in Jesus, my little darling. Dear Ones, I choose to believe with my whole heart our beloved little pets go to heaven

Blessings,
Shelia
