Barbie Mondays

Hello Dear Ones! Just wanted you to know if you came by last week and commented, I may not have gotten back to you. But I have a good reason...we hopped a train (Amtrak) and I got to sleep for the first time on the train, then we hopped off the train in New Orleans and stayed the night at the Royal Hotel on Royal Street in the French Quarter, then we hopped back on the train and got off in Houston, took a little ride to Galveston, spent two nights in The Little House (our little condo) then we packed a few more little things and poked them into Mr. Precious' old Mercedes and then we were going to head back to New York. He wanted his old car so much. But the day before we left Galveston there was a funny sound coming from the car. Long story short - the water pump broke and caused a belt to break - bye bye $700! So God protected us from this happening on the road and so far so good. I haven't had any time to post but we're in Winchester, Kentucky, tonight and we have wifi so I thought I would bring you another Barbie Monday. What a life! :)

Okie dokie...
Like I said earlier, when I made these Barbie clothes all of my fabric had been packed so I went and bought some more so you've seen many outfits made from the same fabric and this is one of them ~ a little country cowgirl looking outfit.
I do just love this sweet little red and white fabric and it made a cute little 3/4 length sleeved shirt.
To finish off her little outfit, Barbie had to have a blue jean skirt. I added the red and white trim around the hem of her skirt! Now if she only had some boots she could go boot scoottin'! :)

Now, same Barbie and same fabric! But here she is all dressed up in this darling little dress. I love this pattern and made quite a few dresses from it.
It has a little boat neck and is sleeveless. You can tell by her face she feels special dressed in it.
Barbie is getting tired and has stopped modeling for me and has sat down! I asked her if she would just turn once more so I could snap her picture?
Barbie shouts, "Let me outta here!" She must be from New York and she does need some shoes! :) Oh well, life goes on!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

Desmond has a barrow in the market place
Molly is the singer in a band
Desmond says to Molly "girl I like your face"
And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand

Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on
Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on

Desmond takes a trolley to the jewellers stores
Buys a twenty carat golden ring (Golden ring?)
Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing (Sing)

Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on
Ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on, yeah (No)

In a couple of years they have built
A home sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
Of Desmond and Molly Jones
(Ah ha ha ha ha ha)

Happy ever after in the market place
Desmond lets the children lend a hand (Arm! Leg!)
Molly stays at home and does her pretty face
And in the evening she still sings it with the band

Yes, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on (Ha ha ha)
Hey, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on

In a couple of years they have built
A home sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
Of Desmond and Molly Jones
(Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha)

Yeah, happy ever after in the market place
Molly lets the children lend a hand (Foot!)
Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face
And in the evening she's a singer with the band

Yeah, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on
Yeah, ob-la-di ob-la-da life goes on bra
La-la how the life goes on

And if you want some fun
Take ob-la-di ob-la-da

~ sung by The Beatles

  3. Glad the problem showed up before you were on the road. Your trip on the train sounded fun. I want to go on a long train trip and sleep in a train :) Chattanooga (city we live near) used to be such a train center. We took a little train trip last year from the Chattanooga Railroad museum to upper Tennesse, it was just a one day excursion but we loved it. Cute Barbie clothes. Have a safe trip home.

  4. Sounds like fun, travelling and packing up. Enjoy the rest of your trip. We travelled on a night train in Australia once, I haven't slept yet, I kept feeling as if I was falling out of the bunk. Longest night of my life...
    Cute Barbie clothes.

  7. Wow I'm glad you got the car fixed and didn't have a break down on the road. My husband lost his water pump on the van a few years ago and had to be towed since he was on the road. Your train trip sounds like fun (was it)? That's a unique idea to do that and make your way back to Texas! I hope you are home back in NY now. The Barbie outfits are cute! My aunt made a few things for our Barbie dolls when I was a kid. I still have mine and the old clothing!

  8. Love the jean skirt!! It's that time of the year, and I miss making doll clothes for Christmas --- no more little girls around my house. We are giving our granddaughter a new smart phone for Christmas; and that is NO substitute for darling doll clothes, in my opinion!!!! Sally

  9. Well, Miss Barbie looks right cute in her crisp red and white! And speaking of Winchester, KY...I used to live in Mt. Sterling, just about 10 minutes (opposite of Lexington) from there! It's been so long, I forgot whether it was east or west so I'm using Lexington as a reference point...lol! So sorry about the car but praise the Lord you weren't stranded somewhere! Riding the Amtrak sounds like a blast...it come right through here and someday hubby and I do plan to take trip on it!

  10. Hi Shelia, so glad the break happened before you got on the road. God was watching over you two. Sounds like a great trip and you are nearly back to N.Y. Love your sweet Barbie outfit. She certainly has a designer wardrobe created by your talents.
Enjoy the rest of the trip and God Bless.
    Hugs

  11. I'm so glad you had a good trip back to Texas and thrilled to know how God protected you on the road. Glad the car problem happened before you were out in the middle of nowhere! Love the Barbie clothes. You inspire me to someday do the same for our littlest grandgirl who is a bit too young for Barbie now. Maybe I should start now and be ready when she wants Barbies.

  12. Oh yeah give us a delightful Barbie post and then top it off with the Beatles - doesn't get much better than that, the two B's! So glad to hear from you, so sorry about the car. Y'all be safe and looking forward to your Christmas decor. Yes, I am, I'm ready for Christmas, let's have Christmas all year!!!
