Puttin On A Pretty Face

Hello, Dear Ones! Well, I have some more snaps of things we've done to the front of our house. So our new/old home is putting on a prettier face today!
Do you see anything different about her?
I keep showing you this snap of the front of our house when we bought her so this is a good comparison to what we have today!
Do you see what we've done? Well, we had railings added to the front porch! I just never did think the front of the house looked finished without these railings. First of all, the drop off from the front porch is pretty high and I didn't want our little grandbabies taking a tumble! I just love how it looks now!
Then...we had the old white shutters taken off and had burgundy colored ones put up. There were no shutters on the windows on either side of the front door so we had some put there too and I think that looks so much better now, don't you?
 So much nicer.
Here you can see the porch isn't very deep but it's long. One more thing, we want to get some Cracker Barrel rocking chairs for out here. Most of our neighbors have them! Won't that look great and I can decorate a little bit out here. We also took off that old black screen on the front door and replaced it with the glass panel and now you can really see my red door! :)
Oh, y'all, our house is becoming so happy! It's not quite as grand as our previous house was but it looks so comfy cozy to me and we are feeling right at home now (even though I still have a gazillion boxes to unpack)!
Friday night little Carter, who's 4 now, spent the night with us. She was so excited and we had a great time. Her mommy picked her up at 12:30 pm and took her to a birthday party and dropped off little Campie, who is a year old, for me to babysit. I feel so loved and so blessed to have had all of this time with my babies!
Okay, I'll quit bubbleing about my babies and show you a little snap of the woods next to us! It's only about a 1/2 block and we're loving it. I haven't dared out into it because my daughter says there are ticks out there. No, no, Nannette, I don't want no ticks! :)
Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

You Are So Beautiful

You are so beautiful, to me
You are so beautiful, to me
Can't you see, you're everything I hoped for
You're everything that I need, you are so beautiful, to me
You are so beautiful, to me
You are so beautiful, to me
Can't you see, you're everything I hoped for
Everything that I need, you are so beautiful, to me
~ sung by Joe Cocker

  17. Love the new shutters, perfect color!! I like the new railings, but I also like a porch without them.......now that I see how narrow the porch is, it's a good thing to have them!! Where are you that you have ticks in the woods??? We lived with 3 acres of woods for 20 years, and had cats and dogs and kids running around and never had ticks. You can't beat the color in NY......xoxoxo

  18. The shutters and porch railing is great. We have a narrow front porch, too.
Ticks are bad here, too. How nice you have all the time with the grands.

  20. I noticed the shutters right away, Shelia! They look great. How funny they didn't have shutters on those two windows flanking the front door. It looks much better with the shutters on them, too. Great idea to put the railing up, too. I'm sure it will be a lot safer for everyone, not just the grandkids!

  21. Wow I love the changes! Tha burgundy shutters look beautiful with the brick and the railing really made a difference! It's interesting what a new set of eyes can do for a home! Sounds like Grandma and Grandpa are getting some quality time with the grands these days!

  22. You've been in the south long enough to crave that front porch! I can see you out there rocking with a hat, glove and blankets wrapped 'round you in the deep snow!
    So pretty and peaceful.

  26. You are making it look very Southern, you know! I think that railing is a great idea, and the rockers will be perfect. The woods are breathtaking! Maybe you should get some SkinSoSoft or Off! to keep away those ticks.

  35. I think your new house is looking like a beautiful and well-loved home, Shelia, with all the little things (and big) that you are doing. I really like the railing and think those rocking chairs will be fantastic. I'm so happy for you that you are getting to enjoy those babies. Do it as much as you can, because you never know when your daughter and family might make a job change that will take them elsewhere. We had our youngest ones close for a couple of years and now they are clear across the country. I'm so happy for the opportunity our son was given and wish them all the best, but, dang, I sure miss them.

The shutters and the red door make such a lovely difference. Isn't it great when your valance worked so nice as well.

  39. Hi Shelia, You've made some great improvements on the outside, as well as in your kitchen! I think the porch rails look super, and you're right; they'll be better for your little grandbabies. I think you're absolutely right that the first floor windows needed shutters, and boy do they look great. The color is so much more cheerful than the drab white ones. :) It looks like you and Mr. Note Songs have got a very nice Home Sweet Home so close to all your loved ones.

    Have a great week!

  40. The outside of your home has changed dramatically - with the clearing off all the bushes/little trees and stuff and the addition of the colorful front door, matching shutters and the fence around the porch. Beautiful!

  43. Hi Shelia, amazing what those new shutters did for the house, it's just beautiful! Funny that the railing was never installed. It really does finish the front perfectly! Happy Fall in your new home!
