I've Fallen in New York!

Hello, Dear Ones! I'm so excited to show you a little Fall at my new/old house. I was so tired of unpacking boxes and decided to take a break and PLAY! One of my favorite things to do! :)
You saw our newly chopped front yard and I had the perfect place to set up a little Fallen vignette!
Right where that huge bush or tree was!
Isn't this cute? Just couldn't do too much in south Texas for Fall on the outside of our house because it was too hot and the pumpkins would rot. But it's cool enough here to go to town.
First of all, look at this darling little scarecrow couple. You know that's Mr. Precious and me!
Then this is my very first ever white pumpkin! Are these called ghost pumpkins? I love it.
More pumpkins, a little bale of hay and two yellow mums. The mums aren't quite open yet but they will be gorgeous as soon as they completely open their little eyes! I'm so excited, y'all! Can you tell?
One more peep at the darling couple.

Of course if you know me...my middle name if FUN! I just had to play a bit!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one
But girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun,
They want to have fun,
They want to have fun...

Choppin'!

Hello, Dear Ones! I have been so busy unpacking boxes that I'm just exhausted! I don't to need say that so much as you don't want to hear my complaints. I wish I had a room to show you but I don't yet. But I will show you a little bit of what's going on around the outside of our house.

This is how our house looked when we bought it. A tad overgrown so we went to town choppin'! The style is so different from what we had in Texas. They call this a two story colonial and most of the houses in our neighborhood look really similar. I believe we are the only house with blue siding though.

Well, these are the bushes and trees that got chopped. I chopped with my own dainty fingers the two trees on the far right hand side. Be impressed! :) They had very skinny trunks. Then there were two shaggy rhododendrons on either side of the steps behind the bushes that just looked awful! My dainties went to town on those too! The big overgrown bush in the center blocked the entire dining room window! I hated that one and Mr. Precious and our son-in-law took care of that one. Then some of the other neglected bushes and vines got taken down.
Aw...I could really hear our house give a sigh of relief to be opened up again. Even though she looks a little nekked now I think she looks so much better because you can actually see her now. Next year we'll plant some new shrubs. We're going to use a stump thingy to remove those trunks. Our son-in-law was so helpful and cut all the branches of that overgrown shrub into little pieces of kindling. Another thing we did was remove all of those grids from the windows ~ they were plastic and crackly and some were already broken. We are joined by only one other house in the neighborhood that is gridless!
The previous owners really loved rocks and pavers...so there are just a tad too many for our liking so we'll be removing some of those too. I have painted the front door red! I have to have a little red around me. You can't see it because the front door is open and the screen makes the opening look so black. We'll replace the screen with glass soon and then the neighbors can see my red door too.

I've about got my kitchen set up. It's bigger than my Texas kitchen was but the storage is much less...so I'm doing my best to get organized in there. I'm still undoing boxes and just when I think I have what I need, I realized something is missing! Shelves from Edra, lamp bases are not with their shades! So I'm going to have to open every single box before I can take a breath! Lord, have mercy!

The weather is wonderful here. I've probably told you that before but it's September and we've only used the air conditioning about three times! Can you believe it? Leaves are beginning to change around us. The temps fall down in the high 40s at night and then the days warm up to in the 70s. But there's no humidity and I love it! Our neighbors are all so nice and have come to visit and some have brought us cookies and one lady went apple picking and brought us a bag of apples. God has really blessed us and each day I see how His hand has moved to get us here. This has really been a large and expensive undertaking for us but He has worked it all out for us. I'm so thankful to be here and near our little family. God is so good!

Okay, I've got to go and unpack some more boxes!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Blessed

I get kissed by the sun
Each morning
Put my feet on a hardwood floor
I get to hear my children laughing
Down the hall through the
Bedroom door
Sometimes I sit on my
Front porch swing
Just soaking up the day
I think to myself, I think to myself
This world is a beautiful place

I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones
That love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed

Across a crowded room
I know you know what I'm thinking
By the way I look at you
And when we're lying in the quiet
And no words have to be said
I think to myself, I think to myself
This love is a beautiful gift

When I'm singing my kids to sleep
When I feel you holding me
I know

First Real New York Blog Post! :)

Hello, Dear Ones! I've finally got to a spot where I could actually sit down and write a post. I hadn't downloaded my pictures since we left Galveston last month! So unlike me. But needless to say I will get back into the swing of things and more regular posting. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
Except for my Barbie Mondays, this is where I had left you...we were on our journey to New York. Mr. Precious pulling a Uhaul behind Kiki and I was following in my Jeep. I have to admit, I was a little worried about following at first/ Then we bought some walkie talkies and they worked out great. No looking down to try and phone each other. If we got separated, just poke the button. It was a genus idea! :)
After a week of driving we made it to upstate, closed on our house and slept on our daughter's air mattress for a month until I woke up one night to a pop pop pop sound and realized we were sinking! It sprung a leak right at the seam! So the last five nights before our furniture arrived, we just slept in Kiki. There she is parked in her new driveway. Sorry I don't have any 'house' snaps to show you right now. But hopefully pretty soon I can show you something. We've been working so hard just trying to get the house ready for our furniture. The house was really filthy. Honey, I mean filthy! And wallpaper was everywhere and the walls that didn't have wallpaper had horribly colored paint everywhere. But it's all getting turned around.
Dear Ones, this is why we're here! Our little family and darling grandchildren!
Well, things were beginning to fall apart at this point! :)
We've already had such a lovely time. Here we took the grands to a little place called Hoffman's. It was built in 1951 and is closing so daughter said the kiddies had to go and experience it just once. Such a darling place with old fashioned charm.
My doll, Carter.
My doll, Campie, in a somber mood! Actually I think he had had enough playland!
I got to experience Carter's first day at her preschool! She loves 'school'. I can actually pick her up from school now, y'all!
Spent the morning with my darling daughter (can't believe she's 39!) and little Campie who pooped out on us in more ways than one! :)
Oh, I'm still letting my hair grow out. This was from about a month ago. Now I did fiddle with my snap to try and cover up some wrinkles and such! This was a good day because my hair doesn't look very good down very much so I wear it up ~ easy and this is why I'm growing it out. I want to wear it up! You know, ole granny and stuff!
Okie dokie, last Wednesday our furniture arrived! Woo Hoo! But let me say one word...boxes!
Feel sorry for me! I mean really sorry! I'm so exhausted! I'm so tired! My feet hurt! My arthir is screaming! I've aquired more lines and wrinkles. Folks, I'm too pooped to pop! But...
...there is always fun happening around here. Now don't turn me in to the child abuse police! Mr. Precious did this but I promise it only lasted about 4 seconds. This was our first time to babysit Camp and Mr. Precious thought it would be funny to send this snap to our daughter and son-in-law and show them how it was going!

You are my bunch of sweeties and I've really missed you!!
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Gonna Buy Me A Dog

You know my girl just called me up

And she woke me from my sleep
You should have heard the things she said
You know she hurt my feelings deep.
I'm gonna buy me a dog
(A dog, a dog! Why?)
'Cause I need a friend now.
(Say, you need all the friends you can get)
I'm gonna buy me a dog,
My girl, my girl, don't love me no how.
She used to bring me my newspaper.
(Cause you didn't know where it was at)
'Cause she knew where it was at.
She used to keep me so contented.
But I can teach a dog to do that.
(Maybe elephants)
I'm gonna buy me a dog,
'Cause I need a friend now
I'm gonna buy me a dog,
(Dog)
My girl, my girl, don't love me no how.
(how) how (how)
1,2,3,4,5,6,7 hike!
(hike! I was a little late on that one.
I just got back from playing cards with the natives.)
Zulus?
(No I usually one, ha ha.)
I could use a drink of water.
(Why, you thirsty?)
No, I want to see if my neck leeks.
I wanna buy a racoon like John's.
(35 bucks.)
Where do I come back in?
I'm gonna buy me a dog,
(dog!) Um, yeah.
'Cause I need a friend now
(yeah, yeah)
Boom boom boo doop doop ramalama.
I'm gonna buy me a dog,
My girl, my girl, don't love me no how.
(how, how)
How now brown cow.
I'm gonna buy me a dog, yes sir.
If I was looking for a word to describe it, "dog" would be the world.
(dog?)
Defenately dog. I would come springing from my lips, dog.
(Ok, the song is over, could someone let us out? They're coming to take
us away, ha ha hee hee ho ho)

Barbie Mondays - Green, Straight Up

Hello, Dear Ones and welcome to Barbie Monday!
Today I would like to share with you some mix and match outfits for Barbie! As I said earlier on in the little series, all of my fabric was packed away for our move so I went out and bought just a few yards to make Carter's Barbie clothes. So I made many outfits from the same fabric. You'll see that today.
Okay, a sweet little shirt and crop pants for Barbie in this sweet little green polka dot fabric. I've shown you other outfits made from this same fabric.
I added some buttons down the front and trimmed the edge of her shirt with lace. Barbie loves frilly, you know! :) The little crop pants makes this outfit look so fun and cute!
Then I used the same pattern I've used before for some slacks too. She'll get a lot of mileage from these little pieces.
Then I made this little dress which reminded me of some of the styles my daughter wore in high school in the early '90s. You know, the wide padded shoulders, dropped waist and a little bit of a skirt train. I probably should have added darts under the bust to the waist so her dress would have shaped up much nicer on Barbie.  Maybe next time.
See the dropped hem? I think I hear Paul Abdul singing...Straight Up... :)
Back to the little three button shirt...Barbie needed a skirt to go with this set so she could really mix and match her outfits. So my tiny fingers made her one.
I know, I know, you've already seen the shirt but I thought I would show it to you again! :)
Then her little skirt...the hem just at her knee. That's the most becoming length, don't you think?
Talking about length! Barbie is really milking this outfit and has decided to use her skirt as a coverup. Maybe a bathing suit coverup or a 'I've just jumped out the tub' coverup. That girl! Only Barbie knows for sure

Hoped you've enjoyed todays little outfits.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)
I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Straight Up

Lost in a dream
Don't know which way to go
If you are all that you seem
Then baby I'm movin' way too slow

I've been a fool before
Wouldn't like to get my love caught
In the slammin' door
How about some information--please

 Straight up now tell me
Do you really want to love me forever oh oh oh
Or am I caught in a hit and run

Straight up now tell me
Is it gonna be you and me together oh oh oh
Are you just having fun

Time's standing still
Waiting for some small clue
I keep getting chills
When I think your love is true

I've been a fool before
Wouldn't like to get my love caught
In the slammin' door
How about some information--please

Straight up now tell me
Do you really want to love me forever oh oh oh
Or am I caught in a hit and run
Straight up now tell me
Is it gonna be you and me together oh oh oh
Are you just having fun

You are so hard to read
You play hide and seek
With your true intentions
If you're only playing games
I'll just have to say--bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye bye

Do do you love me
Do do you love me
Do do you love me
Do do you love me ?

I've been a fool before
Wouldn't like to get my love caught
In the slammin' door
Are you more than hot for me
Or am I a page in your history-book

I don't mean to make demands
But the word and the deed go hand in hand
How about some information--please

Barbie Mondays - All About the Dress

Hello, Dear Ones and welcome again to Barbie Mondays. Hope you're enjoying these little Barbie clothes I've made and are having fun with me. So on we go...
Here is Barbie all stylish and comfy in a sweet little cream print dress. Just perfect for a picnic or a stroll.
I added a little lace for straps instead of fabric and added a little flower for her to feel special. The bodice of the dress is fitted with two darts to help show off her curves. :) I show off my curves too but I'm afraid my curves are not as attractive. Oh, I'm getting off the subject!
Barbie looks cool, calm and collected in her sundress.
I don't remember where the pattern is for this dress. I'm old, ya know! :)
Now for a late night supper or a casual party, Barbie will look all elegant in this long blue dress.
There's more darts for the curves! :) This is really a sweet fabric and just perfect for Barbie.
I used this pattern earlier and showed you for a little short dress. I just made it longer and added the ruffle. Oh, don't look at at seam and knot on the ruffle ( it was supposed to go in the back) As perfect as I try to be, I make an oops occasionally!

Hope you've liked these two Barbie dresses and you notice - no shoes! That's the way I go around most of the day - shoeless and clueless! :)

I wanted you to know we're in New York now and in our house but I'm just so very busy with the clean up (yuck!!), painting and waiting on our furniture and will start blogging about this adventure as soon as I can find my shoes! :) Thank you so much for visiting my tiny blog.

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Devil With the Blue Dress On

Fee, fee, fi, fi, fo-fo, fum
Look at Molly now [or look out once again, now], here she comes
Wearin' her wig hat and shades to match
She's got high-heel shoes and an alligator hat
Wearin' her pearls and her diamond rings
She's got bracelets on her fingers, now, and everything
She's the devil with the blue dress, blue dress, blue dress,
Devil with the blue dress on
Devil with the blue dress, blue dress, blue dress,
Devil with the blue dress on
Wearin' her perfume, Chanel No. 5
Got to be the finest girl alive
She walks real cool, catches everybody's eye
She's got such good lovin' that they can't say goodbye
Not too skinny, she's not too fat
She's a real humdinger and I like it like that
She's the devil with the blue dress, blue dress, blue dress,
Devil with the blue dress on
Devil with the blue dress, blue dress, blue dress,
Devil with the blue dress on
