Let's Tour Graceland!

Hello, Dear Ones! I am in the middle of getting the items ready to put in my Jeep to drive to New York as you read this post but I thought you might enjoying touring Graceland with me. We took this trip in June and it was on my travel blog, You, Me and Little Kiki, but I thought you may like seeing it here. We all love a little Elvis so enjoy...

Okie dokie! This day was June 19, 2014 and I promised you a tour of Elvis' Graceland. Now I must tell you we were surprised as to the condition of Graceland. You know Elvis passed away in 1977 and I remember exactly where I was. We were taking a road trip with the children to New Orleans and of course we were listening to rock and roll on the radio and then the announcement came on that Elvis had died. Anyway, we thought Graceland would be a little dingy and run down. Nope! It was absolutely pristine! 1970s, on the inside, but pristine. I'll try not to talk too much and let you take the tour. I must say - I loved it!
I thought these lions were out of place and there should have been hound dogs flanking the entrance. What do you think! :) Okay, I'll shut up now.
Wait! Is that a flair range like Robin at Decorating Tennis Girl has?
Had to snap in the mirrored stairway!
 Lisa Marie's play set.
Oops! Sorry about the duplicate snap up there.
They told us this was where Elvis had been a few hours before he died - at the piano.
Well, this concludes our tour of Graceland. I really did enjoy myself. There was so much to see. We took a little van over to the house and toured it and the van brought us back. Then we walked around the shops and saw Elvis' cars and planes. I took a picture but it was blurry of the seat belts in his plane - they were gold plated!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

It's Now or Never

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
My love won't wait.

When I first saw you
with your smile so tender
My heart was captured,
my soul surrendered
I'd spend a lifetime
waiting for the right time
Now that your near
the time is here at last.

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
My love won't wait.

Just like a willow,
we would cry an ocean
If we lost true love
and sweet devotion
Your lips excite me,
let your arms invite me
For who knows when
we'll meet again this way

It's now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it's now or never
My love won't wait.

~ sung by Elvis Presley

  2. I've enjoyed your tours. You have been on my heart and in my prayers all day today, dear friend. I am praying for you as you wrap up the last of things before you head out to your new home. And I'm praying that you will be rested and refreshed as God takes you on the journey He has planned for you. Literally, and in every other sense of the word.

  3. Elvis was a hunka-hunka-burnin' man! I toured Graceland years ago, but had forgotten parts of it. So glad you went and shared your photos. I think it's strange people make fun of his home, but if you froze anyone's house in time from the 1970's it would look bizarre. I think it's a wonderful time capsule of a man who came from simple beginnings and found fame and fortune.
    Great post!

  4. I love the lyrics to It's Now or Never and of course, how he sang it. What a voice he had. His home looks comfortable with the leather sofas and chairs, the pool table and I like the peacock stained glass.

  5. Oh my how lovely,I used to dream of marrying Elvis when I was little. I was 11 when I started my love affair with him and in 1977 my daughter was just getting ready for school when her friend called by to go with her. She told us the sad news and I went to work in tears and my work colleagues were too. So sad to lose someone so well loved. Thank you for the tour.

  6. Good morning dear Shelia, Don't faint I am posting again. Just a little to start but it is so good to be back. I have missed your sweet posts so much. I am so happy you are moving closer to your sweet grands. What a huge decision. I wish you happiness and a wonderful new life in NY. I read some of your recent posts and found out about your move. I have definitely been under the radar for several months.

Your tour of Graceland is awesome. I still love Elvis and his music to this day. He was just a country boy who couldn't deal with fame. (my opinion). Smile!

I can't wait to hear more about your new home. Be careful and don't over do.

I love you and miss you my dear friend.

  7. I guess I missed this the first go-round, so I loved seeing it. All the best for your impending move to New York. Your new house is surrounded by so much green -- you will probably almost feel like you are back in Alabama!

  8. I enjoyed seeing Graceland again. I have been there 2 times. The first time they didn't have all the little shops across the street from his house, but when I went back about 8 years ago the shops were there. I was a little disappointed in that the land around Graceland was creeping closer and closer to his property. But, the home and grounds were so pretty and well kept up.
So glad that you are on your way to New York - I know you are so excited to be close to your family.
    Have a safe trip.

  12. What a fun tour, sweet Shelia! Would you believe I was born and reared in Memphis, but I've never been to Graceland? We went to church just down the street from Graceland; we loved driving by at Christmastime and seeing all the lights. This was when Elvis was living there, of course; we moved away from Memphis in 1972, several years before he died. Someday I need to go back and do the tour! :)
