Hello, Dear Ones!
Today I'm showing you the dining room in The Little House. Below is the before snap when the walls were that mustardy color!
The after...Mikey, our handyman, painted this space with 'Biscuit' from Sherwin Williams. I love it! There was only a pot light in here so we bought a little chandy and guess who put it up for us? Mikey! :) His name is Mike but I call him Mikey because I can!I restrained myself and allowed Mr. Precious to pick out the chandy. He picked this one. It's kinda rusticy Texasy funky. It's growing on me though. Each little globe has a star on it - Texas - The Lone Star State. Somehow shiny baubles hanging down didn't seem to fit in here.
We brought over the little round table and chairs from the breakfast room from the 'sold' house. It's a teeny little space as you can see so the little round table and chairs fit just fine. Wait a minute! Is that an orb floating around in the dining room above the table on the left? See it? Oh, no, I believe it's the ghost of the mustardy color trying to bleed through!! :)
Okay, let's stop and smell the roses for a moment! :)These were from Mother's Day.
Do you like this cute little china cabinet? Well, it was my little mother's and I just had to keep it. My Daddy bought this for her when I was about 12 years old and I used to get to Old English it. So I poked in a few dishes, tossed some greens on top along with a cabbage plate and a Rooster.
You know me. :)
I won a Scentsy jar from Debbie who blogs at Debbiedoos many years ago but it got packed. So I went to Walmart (am I becoming a Walmart shopper?) again and found this fake one from Better Homes and Gardens called a wax warmer and for just $15! Pretty, huh?
Remember...come back for more. Hope you're enjoying seeing The Little House. I'm working like a dog trying to all settled in!

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~
It's So Easy
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
People tell me love's for fools
Here I go breaking all of the rules
Here I go breaking all of the rules
Seems so easy
Oh so doggone easy
It seems so easy
Yeah where you're concerned
My heart can learn
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
Oh so doggone easy
It seems so easy
Yeah where you're concerned
My heart can learn
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
Look into your heart and see
What your love book has set aside for me
What your love book has set aside for me
It seems so easy
Oh, so doggone easy
It seems so easy
Yeah, where you're concerned
My heart can learn
Oh, it's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
Oh, so doggone easy
It seems so easy
Yeah, where you're concerned
My heart can learn
Oh, it's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
Well, it seems so easy
So doggone easy
It seems so easy
Where you're concerned
My heart has learned
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
So doggone easy
It seems so easy
Where you're concerned
My heart has learned
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
I love the transformation! The china cabinet is gorgeous and so very special. Hope you have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteYou've outfitted the dining room perfectly, Shelia. When we moved from our old house to our condo I used our round table from our kitchen in our new dining area. It works out perfectly. Our dining set would never have fit in the condo's dining space. My daughter got my old dining set because she was moving into a house with a dining room and needed one. So that worked out.
ReplyDeleteLove how it looks. The paint choice was spot on. The new lighting seems to fit well!
ReplyDeleteExcited to see your new space! Looking forward to this journey with you!
ReplyDeleteEverything is coming together nicely. Good decision getting rid of that paint color, the neutral tone is much easier to work with. I bet you are excited to get everything painted.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Shelia! You're zooming right along with painting and decorating! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute room! Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a remarkable knack for decorating! Beautiful -- and I'm so glad you kept Mum's china cabinet. It's just lovely -- all the more so with your treasures within!
ReplyDeleteYour dining room looks warm and inviting. I love the hutch, mirror and transferware plates!
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila...I do love how you use the word "little"....it's so cute...and your Little Dining Room looks very cute...what a difference a little coat of paint made :)
ReplyDeleteLove the paint color and the new chandy!! Perfect fit for your furniture and the little hutch is so sweet.......I know you are having fun!!!
ReplyDeleteSnug as a bug!! It all looks so comfortable. Sally
ReplyDeleteBeautiful choices! I'm sure it's difficult to break away from what you’re used to and downsize at the same time, but the reward will be worth it. Good luck with the move and decorating!<

Shelia,
ReplyDeleteThe Little House Dining Room is just adorable, dear friend!!!
Your RusticyTexasyFunky Chandelier adds more character to the room!
You know me, I have lots of creative ways to decorate a chandelier.
This one has amazingly great curvy arms to hold ferns and swags!!!
I adore the decor on the little hutch. . .perfection!!!
Stunning black mirror. . .perfection, once again!!!
Lovin' seeing all the changes taking place as you "settle in" for a while.
Transition can sometimes be difficult, but you make it appear flawless!!!
Thank you for sharing the process with us!
Fondly,
Pat
Oh Shelia, it is all looking so cute and cozy. A comfy little home for you and your hubs to enjoy when you're not on the road traveling. You always know the right touch to make a room beautiful. Great job my friend. Hugs Karie
ReplyDeleteShelia- It is all looking just wonderful. The new color is SO much better. Isn't it kind of fun setting up a little place? After having a big home it is almost like playing house, isn't it? I have to go read some of your other posts. I am trying to catch up after being so busy- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteShelia it is all looking so good! Love that you have some roosters of course! Your Mother's china hutch is so sweet and perfect for the little house.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Hi Shelia, Love your dining room. It is cozy and just charming. Your mother would just love her sweet hutch in this room. It looks beautiful with your table set. I would never part with it either. What a treasure. Your wall display with the mirror is perfect. Love those plates and the chandy is a gem too.
ReplyDeleteYou are surely creating a showplace my friend. Have fun!!
Blessings and Hugs!
Oh I love it all Sheila and so glad to see your mom's china cabinet in your new house! Amazing what a fresh coat of paint will accomplish. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI really love the way your new, little home is coming together. It is so YOU! I can't wait to see more. I know it's hard work but it's such fun to make it yours - then you will get to travel!

Looks great! My kitchen dining is tiny (about 8 x 8) and I use a 42" round table with chairs. Seems to work the best. The chandelier fits in nicely- it wouldn't look right with a fancy crystal one. That's sweet that you have your Mom's china hutch with you. The little personal touches make it feel like home and that's what counts.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful makeover Shelia! You really are making this into a beautiful home from home! Your little chicken on the hutch is a cutie! xx
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! You sure have been busy. Great job, Shelia!
ReplyDeleteShelia, it is coming out beautifully! So nice that you are using family pieces and allowing your hubby to make choices, too. What a warm, welcoming home! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti
Very warm and cozy -- love the pop of color on top of the cabinet with your vignette!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your little house transformation. Are you enjoying the process?
ReplyDeleteOh Shelia, I must tell you that you are an inspiration to me. I love to see how you take a small space that is just a temporary house for you and make it into a warm, cozy home with all your special loving touches.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog and thank you for sharing a little slice of your life with me.
Hugs & Blessings,
Debbie

ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Shirley.

Shelia ;)
You are just turning this into the cutest little condo ever. I love the dining area, so pretty. Thansk tons for linking to Inspire Me.
ReplyDeleteThe little china cabinet is very sweet and I know your Mother would be so happy you are still using it.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and I know you are having a crazy busy summer. I started making dolls and want to try a Tilda dolls. If you have time.....I understand if you are too busy.....but if you have any tips or a pattern I should try, it would be appreciated. I don't know where to START!!! And you are the Tilda doll Queen! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteIt looks great.
ReplyDeleteSheila, so glad you are settling in and feeling comfy! (I know you are traveling right now). Your dining room looks great, love the color and the chandy is just right. SO nice that you have your Mothers hutch and you have decorated it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThe new paint color looks terrific on your walls, Shelia!! It makes the room look bigger and brighter! I love your red and white plates, your mirror, the precious china cupboard, and your round table and chairs. The plaid chair seats look so pretty. You didn't have to do so much to totally change the looks of this room. Great job!
