A Little Table

Hello, Dear Ones!
I wanted to show you a little table, a little coffee table, that belonged to my little mother. In her younger days, she used to pick up vintage tables and such and redo them. This little coffee table is one of those.
I remember she found this in the mid '60s and it had been painted many times. So she got to strippin'. No no Nannette, not 'STRIPPIN' but strippin' off the old layers of paint and then refinishing it. She did a beautiful job on it. When she passed away, we had to get rid of lots of her things but I had to keep this little table and it is just perfect for The Little House.
This little table has the most gorgeous legs all shapely and curvy and there is a pretty little carved trim around it.
There is this cute little boopie doopie thingy that sits on top of the leg joinings.
But the best part of the table is the carving on the top. The area dips down and there is this beautifully carved eagle. There is a glass cut for the top so it can actually be used. It's a very special little table.
So with a flat service I can poke things all over it! The olden vase with my faux hydrangeas. Can you believe all of my fauxs are packed away? It's minimal here, folks.
Of course I had to poke down some books ~ one is fake and one is real. Then I found this darling little bird family at Garden Ridge for pennies and fell in love with them! :) It's so easy to fall in love, well, that's what Buddy Holly says! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song~

It's So Easy To Fall In Love

It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
People tell me love's for fools
Here I go breaking all of the rules
Seems so easy
Oh so doggone easy
It seems so easy
Yeah where you're concerned
My heart can learn
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
Look into your heart and see
What your love book has set aside for me
It seems so easy
Oh, so doggone easy
It seems so easy
Yeah, where you're concerned
My heart can learn
Oh, it's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
Well, it seems so easy
So doggone easy
It seems so easy
Where you're concerned
My heart has learned
It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
~ sung by Buddy Holly

  2. Hi Shelia,

This table is just exquisite! I love the beautiful legs, the pretty leg joinings, and the carved eagle. This really is a special piece in and of itself, and the fact that your mother re-finished it makes it even more special. I'm glad you kept it! :) I like your vase and your birds, too. I hope you're enjoying your travels -- have a great week!

  7. Beautiful table! I could see it painted but I know that's a no-no for some people. I have my mom's buffet and my brother and sister are saying no paint, but I think I am. But the detail in that table is beautiful! Enjoy it!

Do you know the words to a song or what the name is of these few lines?

Would you like to swing on the moon,
Carry moonbeams home in a jar?

My Dad used to sing this song but I can't remember all of the words
