New Springy Pillows!

Hello, Dear Ones.
Well, spring is around the corner so I needed some springier pillows on my living room sofa.
First let me tell you a little story and you know how I love to tell you little stories! :)

A few years ago we decided we needed new living room furniture and got rid of our olden stuff. It was time to look for a sofa and I saw this one and just fell in love with it. I've never been a 'fall colors' kind of gal and let my heart lead the way and we bought her. I loved her, I still love her, and she is so pretty and comfy ~ then it was time to buy chairs! Uh oh! I didn't realize how hard it would be to find chairs to go with my sofa. I did find some and I'm sure you've seen them. Anyway, I'm talking pillows today.
I didn't know how hard it would be to find pillows for my sofa either! I keep these fall colored pillows on my sofa most of the time and it looks kinda like fall in here most of the time. So I found some light yellow ones. It's hard to see the color here, but they are almost colored like a stick of butter. I would love some suggestions of some other colors for pillows I could poke on my sofa. I guess I'm skeert!! Help me!
Then I wanted to put together a springier vignette on the coffee table. I love my etched glass whatever it is and poked a bird's nest into it and then I needed to add a bird. A grass ball in a little Fostoria bowl and I was done!
So I'm slowing adding a little bit of spring around the house. I'm trying to restrain myself and go a little easy this year. Now tell me what other color of pillows I could use on my fallish sofa!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Turn, Turn, Turn

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

  1. Good Afternoon! Oh what a pretty room and I love your arrangement on the coffee table. I love your sofa and I'm thinking aqua pillows would be pretty. Have a wonderful week dear friend.

  2. Your sofa is darling Shelia. I have a more fall home to, but I do like some spring colors every now and again. I would think a bright sunflower yellow would compliment the sofa, or what about denim?

  4. Oh I think you could use several colors. I would pick a multi colored stripe that has some of the rusty red color in it and then also a small print with all of those same colors and then a solid out of any of the colors that strike your fancy. You know, like rusty red/blue/yellow/green/cream/navy. Whatever combination you find. Hugs, Marty

  6. Shelia, I love your sofa. Monitors are tricky, but what about a tealish blue? Then you could put a nest with blue eggs in your cloche? Just a thought. What color are the chairs? I can't remember. I do remember you finding the sofa. I love it!

  7. I think blue, red and yellow are perfect together for the Spring and Summer. You and always mix red and blue transferware. I think what' you've already done is great and you'll follow your heart and it will be perfect. I love the sofa. I have old stinking leather recliner sofas that my husband picked out. I promise I will pick the next ones for sure! He always hated my choices and I let him choose and even he hates them. Can't do much with these!

  8. I like what you have - maybe some small check and strip to go with your sofa. If you have a pillow like your sofa take it with you to Home Goods and put them together and see what will go well with the sofa - that way you won't be buying pillows to take back and forth. Home Goods always has so many wonderful pillows at such great prices. Good luck Or if you don't have a pillow the same as the sofa do you have a swatch of fabric - that would work also.

  9. Sometimes you fall in love and I can see why you did with this sofa! Love the accessories. Pillows are fun to change up and I use pillow covers mostly now. They are easy to make and you could mix and match...all kinds of possibilities! Sweet hugs!

  10. I have a floral couch and it was super hard to match with chairs and pillows. On yours something in the color of the vines in a stripe or check. You can mix patterns if you stay in the same color family. I really like the yellow ones!

  11. Hi Sheila, Love your gorgeous sofa and your pretty table vignette. The pillows you display now are pretty and the stick of butter color is springy. Another way to go is checks and stripes in the same color family layered with the same color in a red floral print bolder then the sofa. The print you have now is airy so something with green leaves would pop. Also don't forget the power of black stripes and checks for other seasons. It is elegant and timeless. Oh another thing I thought of going beachy with ivory pillows and red starfish the color of the sofa. Just one design in the middle of the pillow same color as the sofa. Oh you have my juices flowing. It's my stager mind. LOL Anyway, with your talents anything you do and have done, is gorgeous. Have fun springin it up!!

  14. I think a soft mossy green in a pattern would look nice with the pale yellow pillows. Have fun making a decision from all the suggestions! :)

  15. The lighter pillows go perfect with your sofa Shelia and your vignette looks so pretty too!!

  17. Hello Shelia,

I remember when you found your sofa; I do like it. Now, I really don't like pillows. (Please, don't hit me! I do have some pillows in my home . . . and on my sofa.) But I'd better not advise you in this area.

I love your Spring decorations. As soon as today is over--that'd be tomorrow--I'll put away my St. Patrick's decorations and Spring into action.

  18. Sheila, sometimes a complimentary color goes nicely. I am thinking a pretty spring green, not minty but a warmer green...you could maybe even find a contrasting stripe that carried the colors of your sofa and the spring green color to tie them in together. Have fun deciding!

  19. I love your new pillows. I'm thinking pillows for my living room, too. My big problem is that I have a rascally, little dog who likes to get the pillows and make them into a place to take a nap. He loves to burrow into them, under them, curl up on top of them or pile them up and make a fort! Someone forgot to train that little guy! I think you've had some good suggestions for color. And I love your coffee table vignette! I may copy the idea and tweak it a bit. Thinking on something I have and something I want to add to mine. Will let you know when I do.

  20. Hi Shelia- I'm thinking a stripe too like several others have mentioned. There is a neat Dahlia Embroidered Lumbar Pillow at Pottery Barn that might work too! The vignette on the coffee table looks great!

  21. I'm still working on springing up the house -- with mixed effects. But I must get a move on by Thursday to be in step with the season!

  22. Oh, if I had light colored pillows, the health department would come and get me! Two dogs, two teen boys and it's all I can do keep navy blue clean! I'm so envious of the light and airy look you have for spring! I'll send my boys right over.

  23. Love your sofa and I know you will Spring it up with all the great suggestions. The vignette is awesome! I'm adding some Spring to my house also and I need some new pillows myself. I am so bad at decorating so I'll be asking for advice myself soon! Hugs, Linda

  24. Very pretty, Shelia. I can picture a sunflower yellow or a soft blue to give it a pop. It really does look very welcoming. Deb

  25. Shelia,
Oh, my dear friend, I LOVE your sofa!!!
Reds, creamy ivories and sage greens really speak to my inner soul!
My suggestion for a pillow hue would be a subtle hued green.
I clicked and enlarged your photo and I do see a touch of green in your fabric.
Also, I see a green hue in your wall color.
I would actually take the seat cushion off the sofa and go shopping for fabric or ready~made.
The vignette is elegant on your coffee table!!!
    Charming bird figurine!
Have a wonderful Spring filled day, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  26. I love your sofa Sheila. Your post is so perfect because I woke up this morning thinking about changing the pillows on my sofa. The coffee table vignette looks great.

  27. It looks lovely right now! I started working on pillow covers the other day, lol! I made 2 quilt blocks then I have to do more but I too was wanting to lighten up for spring a bit : )

  28. Everything is beautiful and restful !

  29. Hi Shelia!
I love your buttery pillows too. I can't tell you what additional pillow color I might add unless I see the chairs and the carpet and maybe the wall color -- is it a sage green? Whatever the case, your vignette is lovely and I can see why you fell in love with your Jacobean floral print sofa. It is gorgeous.
    :)

    Enjoy your day!

  31. Hi Shelia! I just love your sofa and think some green and yellows would look wonderful! I went back and your built-in cabinets are a pretty green, a complimentary green would look awesome. Throw in some of the colors on that pretty colorful platter on your shelf and spring will come shining in! Just my two cents!

  32. I love your spring touches, Shelia, and those new pillows are gorgeous! I've seen some similar to those at HomeGoods that I keep looking at for my living room sofa. I may have to get them after all. I love your sofa too, my friend.

It doesn't feel like spring here yet, but I'm getting ready to add my spring touches, anyway. :) Thanks for sharing the pretty pics and have a great day!

    Blessings,

    Denise

  33. I think your sofa and the coffee table vignette look beautiful, Shelia! It's hard to tell from the photos, what the colors truly are, but it looks like you have some options. It kind of looks like there is a bit of beige in the print, and beige can go a number of different ways -- sometimes it has a greenish tint & sometimes a hint of blue, so you might be able to add one of those two colors. When I'm trying to plan out a color scheme, I either take one of the pillows (or sometimes there is a small swatch of fabric attached somewhere on the frame of the sofa) with me; or I gather a few things from around my house in the colors I'm considering just to see how it might look. I've also used colored pencils or crayons to get an idea. Just because your sofa fabric is a print, does not mean you cannot have other prints. Stripes or checks would work as long as they are smaller in scale to your sofa print. I know you will have fun deciding!
