Wall Pockets

Hello, Dear Ones!
Mr. Precious decided to clean out the garage. Now that is quite a feat since we have lots of cabinets that are loaded with lots of junk. He came in with a couple of boxes and said, "Look what I found!"
I had to stop and open those boxes. The first one was filled with my collection of wall pockets that I had completely forgotten about. These little puppies have been packed away for almost 20 years!

So, grab you diet Cherry Dr. Pepper and sit down and I'll show them to you ~ that means 'lots of snaps'.
Was I ever excited to see my sweet little darlings again.

Wall pockets were popular in the 1930s. They were made by many American and European factories. Glass, pottery, porcelain, majolica, chalkware, and metal wall pockets can be found in many fanciful shapes. Some wall pockets were made before the 1930s, in the nineteenth century.

Isn't this little wall pocket just the cutest little thing? If you don't know about wall pockets, they have a little vaselike pocket/opening on the backside to poke something into and then it is hung on the wall.
This little McCoy parakeet wall pocket was my very first. I used to see these in every thrifty shop I went into.
This white peacock was made by USA pottery.
Darling little Royal Copley straw hat!
Now when I saw this little pigtail girl made by Royal Copley, I thought I had died and gone to Heaven! Isn't she darling!!
Then I found her distant cousin also made by Royal Copley.
Another McCoy one. The little bird had a boo boo on his tiny tail but I fixed him up! You do not see that excess glop of glue now do you? :)
This flying bird...well I don't know who manufactured this but love the pastelness of it.
Everyone needs a Morton pink wishing well.
Here's a cute pair. A coffee grinder and wall phone. Look at those sweet little red and a little dusty cherries. Well, they've been packed away for almost 20 years! That is some old dust, y'all!
I've saved my very favorite for last. My little Royal Copley praying angel. Isn't she the sweetest little thing!
Look at this precious little sweet face and tiny hands folded in prayer.
Her pocket is in her wings. I do believe she's saying a little prayer for us all today. I love that, don't you?

Hope you've enjoyed seeing my little vintage wall pockets. I have already wrapped them back up for another day and put them in a new box but... I've kept out my favorite little angel to stay close to me.

Be a bunch of sweetie,
Shelia;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Special Angel

You are my special angel
Sent from up above
The Lord smiled down on me
And sent an angel to love (to love)

You are my special angel
Right from paradise
I know you're an angel
Heaven is in your eyes

The smile from your lips brings the summer sunshine
Tears from your eyes bring the rain
I feel your touch, your warm embrace
And I'm in heaven again

You are my special angel
Through eternity
I'll have my special angel
Here to watch over me

(A smile from your lips brings the summer sunshine)
(The tears from your eyes bring the rain)
I feel your touch, your warm embrace
And I'm in heaven again

You are my special angel
Through eternity
I'll have my special angel
Here to watch over me (watch over me)

Here to watch over me
(Angel, angel, whoa-oh-oh-oh, oh, oh oh, oh)

Cinderella, Cinderella, All I Hear is Cinderella

Hello, Dear Ones.
My Pyrex collection seems to be growing a little so I thought I would show you.
I found these two lovelies a while back. I love this pattern ~ Butterprint ~ it's just one of my favorites. Some even call it Amish Butterprint. The pattern has a little farmer couple, their crops and of course a Rooster along the sides.
So far all I've found is the aqua or is it turquoise? and white color. This is a little Cinderella bowl ~ a little handle to hold on one side of the bowl and a little pouring spout on the other side. Or maybe you could say ~ a handle on both sides! Why are they called Cinderella Bowls you ask? Sit on down, grab your Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper and I'll tell you a little story and you know how I love to tell you little stories...
Oh, this is my largest Cinderella bowl. Ain't she purdy?
Now...once upon a time...
Why name Pyrex mixing bowls after Cinderella?
"Cinderella bowl" is a well-known term for the type of nesting bowl with a handle on one side and a spout on the other.  The name has become a convenient way to differentiate it from the older style of nesting bowl with a completely round circumference.  Cinderella bowls first appeared in 1957 with three pattern & colour choices: turquoise Butterprint, pink Gooseberry, yellow & black Gooseberry.  Sandalwood became the next pattern to appear on Cinderella bowls, in 1961.  The shape of the bowls was designed by John Phillip Johnson.     source
Here I have two mixing bowls. I believe the sets always came with four bowls so I'm always on the lookout. Now I need to find two more white on aqua/turquoise  appropriately sized bowls and I'll have my set.
These Cinderella bowls are shaped a little differently. They are more 'boxy' but just as purdy!
Here's all my pretty little Butterprint Pyrex collection. I just love this pattern and this pattern loves me too! :)
You may wonder if I use my olden Pyrex? Yes, ma'am, I do! I put all kinds of things in them, raw fruits and veggies and cooked veggies. I don't put these in the oven though. I know lots of folks do though. I'm a tad chicken or maybe Rooster if you know me!
When I'm not poking fruit or veggies in my Pyrex, I just poke them in my little glass front corner cabinet! I love my Pyrex!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

CINDERELLA:
Cinderella, Cinderella
All I hear is Cinderella, from the moment I get up
till shades of night are falling
There isn't any letup, I hear them calling, calling
Go up and do the attic and go down and do the cellar
You can do them both together
"Cinderella."

How lovely it would be
If I could live in my fantasy
But in the middle of my dreaming
They're screaming at me
"Cinderella!"

JACK:
Every time she'd find a minute
That's the time that they begin it
Cinderelly, Cinderelly

STEPSISTERS:
Cinderella!

JACK:
Cinderelly, Cinderelly
Night and day it's Cinderelly
Make the fire, fix the breakfast
Wash the dishes, do the mopping

GIRL MICE:
And the sweeping and the dusting
They always keep her hopping

JACK:
She goes around in circles
Till she's very, very dizzy
Still they holler

GIRL MICE:
Keep a-busy Cinderelly!

We can do it, we can do it
We can help our Cinderelly
We can make her dress so pretty
There's nothing to it, really
We'll tie a sash around it
Put a ribbon through it
When dancing at the ball
She'll be more beautiful than all
In the lovely dress we'll make for Cinderelly

Hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry
Gonna help our Cinderelly
Got no time to dilly-dally
We gotta get a-goin'

GUS:
I'll cut with these scissors!

JACK:
And I can do the sewing!

GIRL MOUSE:
Leave the sewing to the women
You go get some trimmin'

GIRL MICE:
And we'll make a lovely dress for
Cinderelly!

GIRL MICE & GUS:
We'll make a lovely dress for
Cinderelly!

Been Having Fun

Hello, Dear Ones!
Well, Mr. Precious and I have been off having fun in Kiki for a few days! You know how I love to have fun. Well, we're home now and you know how that goes...unloading, putting stuff back where you took it from, washing all of the dirty laundry, washing the dog...being tired. It is tiring having fun, don't you think? :) Oh, one little fact I'm sure you could care less about is that my hair has grown long enough to be put into a pony tail! Well, it's a very tiny pony tail and I have to put bobby pins on the sides of my head to hold up the shorter pieces, but heck, it's a little pony tail! See, I knew you didn't care about that little detail one way or the other. :)

I really do try my hardest to respond to each of your comments as I just love hearing from you. About the only time I don't get back to you is when I'm traveling, so forgive me if you haven't heard from me in the past few days. I'll get back to normal in a bit. Just wanted to drop in to tell you how much I really do appreciate you all coming over here to my silly little blog and taking the time to comment! I just love it and I love you too!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Love Will Keep Us Together

Love, love will keep us together
Think of me babe whenever
Some sweet talking girl comes along singing her song
Don't mess around,
You gotta be strong
Just Stop [stop], 'cause I really love You
Stop [stop], I'll be thinking of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together

You, You belong to me now
Ain't gonna set you free now
When those girls start hanging around talking me down
Hear with your heart and you won't hear a sound
Just Stop [stop], 'cause I really love you
Stop [stop], I'll be thinking of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together, what ever.

Young and beautiful
Someday your looks will be gone
When the others turn you off
Who'll be turning you on

I will, I will, I will, I will
Be there to share forever
Love will keep us together
Said it before and I'll say it again while others pretend
I'll need you now and I'll need you then
Stop 'cause I really love Ya
Stop I'll be thinking of Ya
Look in my heart and let love keep us together

A Blackberry Kind of Day

Hello, Dear Ones!
I was piddling around in my post section of the blog and ran across this post I never put up last year so I thought I would share it with you today...

Not much going on today.

So I thought I'd eat some blackberries because they won't be around much longer!

 Aren't these yummilicious looking?

Well, since I set this up just for you I'll show you my cute little tea towel I've made with my own tiny dainty talented fingers! :)
A closer look at the ruffles.
Have to pat myself on the back sometimes.
Especially since not too much is going on today but eatin' blackberries.
I just love me some big ole fat juicy blackberries.
Now I must confess I do sprinkle a little sugar on top so the sweetness is even sweeter!
Here you go!
I love to share!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Blackberry Wine

There's a south wind risin' and the moon shines on my window sill
I've got a feeling I might walk on over the hill
I'm bent but not broken, all I need is some rest
And a bottle of your very best
Blackberry wine
There's a new moon risin' and the wind sings it's old song
Pass it on over it's a sin to be sober too long
I'm bent but not broken, all I need is my share
Of a bottle of that very rare
Blackberry wine

My old gal's got a new dress on five and dime
Try as she will she can't get me to come home on time
But I'd never cheat her or mistreat her you know
As over the mountain I go
Blackberry wine

I'll be soft spoken
All I need is my rest
And a bottle of your very best
Blackberry wine

Now my days are numbered and one more heel's been killed
Blackberry John left me his old recipe in his will
I'm bent but not broken, all I need is some time
And a bottle of your very fine
Blackberry wine

Blackberry wine,
You know that I'm quite dry without you
Blackberry wine

New Springy Pillows!

Hello, Dear Ones.
Well, spring is around the corner so I needed some springier pillows on my living room sofa.
First let me tell you a little story and you know how I love to tell you little stories! :)

A few years ago we decided we needed new living room furniture and got rid of our olden stuff. It was time to look for a sofa and I saw this one and just fell in love with it. I've never been a 'fall colors' kind of gal and let my heart lead the way and we bought her. I loved her, I still love her, and she is so pretty and comfy ~ then it was time to buy chairs! Uh oh! I didn't realize how hard it would be to find chairs to go with my sofa. I did find some and I'm sure you've seen them. Anyway, I'm talking pillows today.
I didn't know how hard it would be to find pillows for my sofa either! I keep these fall colored pillows on my sofa most of the time and it looks kinda like fall in here most of the time. So I found some light yellow ones. It's hard to see the color here, but they are almost colored like a stick of butter. I would love some suggestions of some other colors for pillows I could poke on my sofa. I guess I'm skeert!! Help me!
Then I wanted to put together a springier vignette on the coffee table. I love my etched glass whatever it is and poked a bird's nest into it and then I needed to add a bird. A grass ball in a little Fostoria bowl and I was done!
So I'm slowing adding a little bit of spring around the house. I'm trying to restrain myself and go a little easy this year. Now tell me what other color of pillows I could use on my fallish sofa!

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia ;)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Turn, Turn, Turn

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

It's All Lisa's Fault!

Hello, Dear Ones!
Well, yes! It's all Lisa's fault!! Just look what she made me do!
She MADE me go find some more cow creamers!! Yes, she did! Just look...
she had the nerve to poke this picture on her blog and tempt me. She meant to do it, I know she did!
If you don't know Lisa, she blogs at A Cottage To Me and HERE is that post of temptation.
She just knew I would hop into my car and drive completely off the island to the nearest Kohl's. And that's just what I did too.
Well, shoot! I bought one in every color except white since I have a white one who is very similar to these cuties. Did I tell you they were cow creamers? Oh, you already knew that didn't you?
They were on sale too ~ $5.99 each instead of $8.99. So see ~ what would you have done?
That old hymn keeps running through my tiny brain ~ Yield Not To Temptation ~ for yielding is sin.
Oh, my! I've had to get down on my knees and ask God to forgive me and then I couldn't get up. Hey, I'm old, y'all! But I feel okay now and I'm forgiven.
My new girls weren't even paying any attention to me and looks like they got their cute little heads together and made a decision. And what cute little heads they have.
They are darling, aren't they? You know I'm in love with these little rainbow colored cow creamers.
My new girls decided to hoof it on over to the kitchen. Seems all of my girls love my Jadeite Rooster. He's still king of the kitchen! :)  Just to make it clear, I'm not really mad at Lisa, I'm just being a silly! ;)

Yield Not To Temptation  (you knew I was going to use this song)

Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin;
Each victory will help you some other to win;
Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue,
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.

I'm Now A Dot Com! UPDATE

UPDATE!!
Just wanted to answer some of your questions you've had in my comments. This is what the most marvelous Linda from Life and Linda told me:

"No...you will not lose anything. Everything on your blog is the same.
People won't even notice, unless they see the .com in their browser. Easy peasy!
Don't worry your pretty little head, because it all works the same as before."

Again, isn't she wonderful? Thank you so much, Linda! Okay, on with my old post...

Hello Dear Ones!
Well, I'm not actually a dot com but my blog name is now a dot com! Note Songs has been a blogspot.com for years but after reading Linda's post who blogs at Life and Linda, I purchased, well, I guess the terminology is I've 'registered' the domain name for my blog for a small amount at GoDaddy.com.
http://www.jonathanright.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/dot-com-blank-wo.jpg

Now I'm not really sure why this is a good thing as I don't advertise on my blog or have an Etsy shop, but I do know the name "Note Songs" now belongs to me. I also know we who use Blogger, which is free, don't actually own our blogs but we do own the contents on our blogs. Again, I'm sure many of you know so much more about this, but .com just looks so much more spiffy than the other, don't you think?

So, if you have me in your blog list, would you mind to change my blog address to NoteSongs.com? I know you're being redirected right now but I don't know how long that will last and I certainly don't want to loose any of you.

Now, I have to toot Linda's horn. She helped me so very much to get my .com and she has a wonderful post up with all of the instructions for you if you'd like to buy your domain name. I guess the only thing that could be disheartening, is if your blog's name has already been taken. You have to check because you never know. I was fortunate there was no other Note Songs out there.

Please go read Linda's post at Life and Linda and learn how to purchase you own domain name too. She has a great tutorial with pictures!  I'm a dot com! I'm a dot com! I'm a dot com! :)

Be a bunch of sweeties,
Shelia :)

I'll leave you with a little Note Song ~

Time To Change

Sha na na na na na na na na
Sha na na na na
Sha na na na na na na na na
Sha na na na na

Autumn turns to winter
And winter turns to spring
It doesn't go just for seasons you know
It goes for everything

The same is true for voices
When boys begin to grow
You gotta take a lesson from Mother Nature
And if you do you'll know

When it's time to change (when it's time to change)
Don't fight the tide, go along for the ride
Don't ya see
When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange
Who you are and what you're gonna be

Sha na na na na na na na na
Sha na na na na
Sha na na na na na na na na na
Sha na na na na

Day by day you're facing the changes you've been through
A little bit of living, a little bit of growing all adds up to you
Every boy's a man inside
A girl a woman too
And if you want to reach your destiny
Then here's what you can do
~ sung by The Brady Bunch
